Capital Landscaping

About us

Capital Landscaping is a design build firm that was started in the fall of 1998 with only 21 mowing accounts and a pickup. Over the next several years, it began to evolve into a design and build firm specializing in backyard family living spaces. Today Capital Landscaping has 15 full time year around employees. During the summer months the number fluctuates as we offer a summer internship to an aspiring landscape designer and several summer jobs on crews to college and high school seniors. During the winter months Capital employs as many as 65 people during the evening hours to handle our corporate partners snow and ice needs. Take time to look over our web page to see how Capital Landscaping can help you with all your lawns service needs from mowing to beautiful landscaping to suit your yard. At Capital Landscaping we value customer service and integrity and we stand behind our work. Additional email address - [email protected].

We chose Capital Landscaping for our snow removal because they also take care of the church and school where our children attend.  We were given an estimate of $55 per driveway clearing, and after we agreed to this, we received a bill for $100.90.  My wife called to discuss the discrepancy.  She was told the additional charge was due to there being over 4" of snow, and there was an additional charge because we have a circular driveway.  The circular driveway has been here since the house was built in 1979, and my wife told them about the circular driveway at the time of the estimate.  We were never informed of the surcharge for a snow depth over 4 inches. The gentleman who took the call was quite rude to my wife.  When I got home, I saw the bill and called Phil at Capital Landscaping.  Phil was also quite rude to me as well.  We exchanged unpleasantries and I fired him.  They did do quality work, were reliable and prompt.  Our last snow removal company did quite a bit of damage to our yard which is why we switched to Capital in the first place.

The aeration service went well. It was easy to schedule an appointment with them.

We hired this company to build one retaining wall, rebuild another, and perform minor landscaping services. There was little initial oversight and several tasks had to be re-done. While oversight and job quality improved, there was a major disagreement as to proper installation of the new retaining wall. While the performance was ultimately acceptable, it was a difficult and lengthy overall process.

They did a phenomenal job. Somebody who left a job was terrible, and they came along to pick up the pieces. They did a very good job. They have been in business for a while, and they were very professional. They knew what they were doing. They came here and knew exactly what I needed. They were very knowledgeable and professional.

They are a group that deals with aeration and over-seeding.  The job turned out fair. I would probably recommend them to people.  They lacked a little in communication and that was due to the fact that they had a lot of people buy their coupon. I would interact with them.

We had a terrible experience. He did not complete contract work, we did not pay last payment. Required legal action to resolve. Drainage Issues-landscaper advised he would use a laser leveling system and complete a final grade prior to installation of sod to assure water drained properly. Water will not drain following a minimal rainfall we have standing water in our yard and it becomes unusable for up to 4 to 5 days. A simple evaluation using my level indicates the yard is graded uphill in spots preventing the water from flowing. Deficiency with Wiring for Landscape Lighting. Quality of installation is extremely poor. A low quality orange colored extension cord was used. Low quality duct tape was used to secure wiring. Bent over nails & screws were used to fasten wiring. The system trips the ground fault breaker. An inspection of the connections & underground connectors indicates the work was poorly done, is unsafe, unsightly and unacceptable. Lot's more to tell, but out of room.
