We were initially told that the project would take 2-3 weeks. Boyd was quick to start on our project and the first few days were very positive. Then there were days when no one showed up to do any work. The bathroom and plumbing was the first stage of the project. The materials used to finish the bathroom walls buckled and warped overnight and we were told that he would replace them with plastic sheets (like what is used in a gas station bathroom). To avoid this cheap look, we opted to have the bathroom tiled, at an additional cost of $800. Again, more days were lost as they took time off and the bathroom was finally finished with in the initial time line for the entire project (3 weeks). The Bathroom looked great, but we were initially told that there would be a light fixture above the mirror, as well as, a larger fixture in the center of the bathroom with an exhaust fan. Instead only a standard fixture was installed in the center of the bathroom. During the install of the walls and ceiling, we were initially led to believe that the ceiling would be finished from the bottom of the stairs throughout the entire remodel area. Only the main living area was drywalled, leaving an area at the bottom of the stairs unfinished and the ceiling in the closet was not finished either. When I complained about this, Boyd explained that finishing the ceiling in the closet would be too much work because he would have to rewire an outlet that was apparently too complicated. He said that he would spray the ceiling black and it would look good. He did find a piece of dry wall and installed it at the bottom of the stairs, although it was never mudded. We noticed that our phone stopped working as they were installing the drywall and brought it to their attention. Boyd said that he thought that the line coming into our house was "abandoned" so he didn't think it was his fault that the line was drilled into. This resulted in us calling Qwest and spending $275 to have a new line ran and two outlets installed. The back side of the bathroom wall was never finished, although we specifically asked if that part would be finished before work started. When we brought it to his attention, he denied that it was to be finished. Overall, we felt that the job was not well done, it took nearly 8 weeks to finish a job that originally was to take 2-3 weeks. Extra costs brought us well over the budget that we were initial quoted. These are very friendly people, but not great at keeping their word.
