"Thank-you!"
They were scheduled to arrive at our first stop at 9 a.m. and arrived about 20 minutes early. I was surprised/confused when they arrived with the Git-R-Done truck because I didn't think this was who I called, but it didn't matter and we had a good experience. At one point, Dave answered his phone and said something like, and quot;A-1 Git-R-Done Always Affordable Moversand quot;, which to me is a bit confusing. I'm honestly hoping I'm writing this review under the correct company name.
We moved all of the small stuff ourselves, so they only had to move two bedroom sets and a couple larger items from the basement. They had us packed-up in about 30-40 minutes. When they arrived they were ready to get the job done and worked quickly. The downside to this was that they don't take the time to cover furniture before taking it out of the house or moving it up into the truck. I have some brand new nice Amish furniture that I didn't want scratched, so I bought my own moving blankets and shrink wrap to pre-wrap any important items. I'm glad I did this because it was raining.
Our second stop was at my storage unit on the other side of town. I thought this would go quicker than it did, but apparently they had a difficult time packing the truck with two stops, even though I had let them know the situation and inventory ahead of time. Troy seemed a bit annoyed that he had to re-pack the truck. Overall, it didn't take too long. We made it to our house around noon.
When we got to our new house, they tried to work quickly but this means they didn't take time to think about their wet shoes on my white carpet. I had to ask them to put down rugs or blankets at the entryway. But, they were very flexible when we asked them to move items into the garage first so we could clean the furniture that had sat in the storage unit.
They also helped take the front door off the hinges and take-down the entryway light to get our furniture inside. Our new home was built in the late 1960's, so some of the corners were tight, but they did a great job of not scratching the walls or our furniture. We did have to remove the stair railing to get the bigger furniture upstairs. They were helpful, but I wish they would have been more positive and encouraging. They need to look things like this from the customers point-of-view and remember this is my new home that we're doing demolition the first day in the house. Even after taking out the railing, our queen sized adjustable bed frame still wouldn't make it upstairs, so they had to leave that in our living room.
They were able to get everything moved into our house by the middle of the afternoon. The cost was very reasonable. Overall, I would compare the experience to having my uncles and/or cousins move me, but better because they're experienced and much more careful than my family. We have already recommended them to other friends and family who have moved.
- Pros:
- and middot; Prompt/on-time
- and middot; Fast movers
- and middot; Affordable
- and middot; Take direction well
- and middot; Referred to me as and quot;the bossand quot;
Cons:
- and middot; Only really get 2 movers because Dave cannot lift the heavy stuff, but if you’re involved and help, it goes really fast
and middot; Complained a lot about making two stops, even though I told them beforehand
and middot; They make sure that you feel valued as a customer, but sometimes forget that you can be an overwhelmed, emotional new homeowner. I would have appreciated a bit more of a positive, supportive attitude and tone when things got a bit rough.
and middot; Used our bathroom several times, including once to take a BM at our new house where we hadn’t even used it. I get that “nature
calls” and they have a huge truck they can’t just leave to go to the restroom, but it was right before they were leaving and were actually waiting for him in the truck.
and middot; They’re family and bicker a lot, which didn’t bother me, but if you’re someone who would be bothered by this, you might not enjoy the moving experience.
The guys (three total) showed up 30 min early and after a quick walk-through went right to work. They took the time to ensure that the important/breakable items were loaded properly. I was amazed at how quickly they worked.
The original quote was and quot;no more than $600.00and quot; without any walkthrough required. Two Men and a Truck quoted us between $1200.00 and $1500.00. When all was said and done, the final bill was $565.00. I bought the guys pizza for lunch and felt that they did such a good job, that I tipped each of them $20.00. The money was well spent, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
In a nutshell: Easy to Book, Punctual, Hard-Working, Affordable
I highly recommend these guys. They were very personable with us and had a lot of integrity, and work hard.
