Troy and his team were very kind and professional. They were very friendly and hard working. Not once did we hear any poor or foul language, which was much appreciated! They wanted to be sure we were happy in the end before payment was due. We will but using this team again the next time we sell a home!

Their truck drove thru our yard while moving a neighbor . We have 15 feet of damage from a large commercial truck.I spoke to Troy who said his driver was new. Troy refuses to give insurance information. We have filed a police report for property damage.

The price was excellent and for the most part the movers were nice people focused on doing a good job.  I will echo what other reviewers said as we experienced basically everything they did... two of the crew tended to bicker back and forth, sometimes putting the customer in the middle of it.  I offered to buy them lunch to which two of them accepted but the third insisted he need a break and to go eat somewhere.  It was a hot day and these guys work their tails off so I can't fault him for insisting on a rest once during a big move.  I would just suggest they bicker outside on the truck and not in front of the customer.  Again, the price was great though and we walked away with only a few minor scratches on one piece of furniture.  We would have broken/scratched more things having done it ourselves and they took care to try to prevent this from happening to any of our items.  We'd use them again.

I called them about a month before we were scheduled to move. They were prompt and answered the phone right away. They were able to get us in on the day we wanted to move. He didn't take much of my information except the pick-up address and maybe my phone number. Normally, I this would have made me leery, but other reviewers said they didn't have any issues.

They were scheduled to arrive at our first stop at 9 a.m. and arrived about 20 minutes early. I was surprised/confused when they arrived with the Git-R-Done truck because I didn't think this was who I called, but it didn't matter and we had a good experience. At one point, Dave answered his phone and said something like, and quot;A-1 Git-R-Done Always Affordable Moversand quot;, which to me is a bit confusing. I'm honestly hoping I'm writing this review under the correct company name.
We moved all of the small stuff ourselves, so they only had to move two bedroom sets and a couple larger items from the basement. They had us packed-up in about 30-40 minutes. When they arrived they were ready to get the job done and worked quickly. The downside to this was that they don't take the time to cover furniture before taking it out of the house or moving it up into the truck. I have some brand new nice Amish furniture that I didn't want scratched, so I bought my own moving blankets and shrink wrap to pre-wrap any important items. I'm glad I did this because it was raining.
Our second stop was at my storage unit on the other side of town. I thought this would go quicker than it did, but apparently they had a difficult time packing the truck with two stops, even though I had let them know the situation and inventory ahead of time. Troy seemed a bit annoyed that he had to re-pack the truck. Overall, it didn't take too long. We made it to our house around noon.
When we got to our new house, they tried to work quickly but this means they didn't take time to think about their wet shoes on my white carpet. I had to ask them to put down rugs or blankets at the entryway. But, they were very flexible when we asked them to move items into the garage first so we could clean the furniture that had sat in the storage unit.
They also helped take the front door off the hinges and take-down the entryway light to get our furniture inside. Our new home was built in the late 1960's, so some of the corners were tight, but they did a great job of not scratching the walls or our furniture. We did have to remove the stair railing to get the bigger furniture upstairs. They were helpful, but I wish they would have been more positive and encouraging. They need to look things like this from the customers point-of-view and remember this is my new home that we're doing demolition the first day in the house. Even after taking out the railing, our queen sized adjustable bed frame still wouldn't make it upstairs, so they had to leave that in our living room.
They were able to get everything moved into our house by the middle of the afternoon. The cost was very reasonable. Overall, I would compare the experience to having my uncles and/or cousins move me, but better because they're experienced and much more careful than my family. We have already recommended them to other friends and family who have moved.
  • Pros:
  • and middot; Prompt/on-time
  • and middot; Fast movers
  • and middot; Affordable
  • and middot; Take direction well
  • and middot; Referred to me as and quot;the bossand quot;

Cons:
  • and middot; Only really get 2 movers because Dave cannot lift the heavy stuff, but if you’re involved and help, it goes really fast
and middot; Complained a lot about making two stops, even though I told them beforehand
and middot; They make sure that you feel valued as a customer, but sometimes forget that you can be an overwhelmed, emotional new homeowner. I would have appreciated a bit more of a positive, supportive attitude and tone when things got a bit rough.
and middot; Used our bathroom several times, including once to take a BM at our new house where we hadn’t even used it. I get that “nature
calls” and they have a huge truck they can’t just leave to go to the restroom, but it was right before they were leaving and were actually waiting for him in the truck.
and middot; They’re family and bicker a lot, which didn’t bother me, but if you’re someone who would be bothered by this, you might not enjoy the moving experience.

Like a previous review, we booked with Troy and had the owner of A1 Git R Done movers show up to help. They are partners and share equipment.

The guys (three total) showed up 30 min early and after a quick walk-through went right to work. They took the time to ensure that the important/breakable items were loaded properly. I was amazed at how quickly they worked.

The original quote was and quot;no more than $600.00and quot; without any walkthrough required. Two Men and a Truck quoted us between $1200.00 and $1500.00. When all was said and done, the final bill was $565.00. I bought the guys pizza for lunch and felt that they did such a good job, that I tipped each of them $20.00. The money was well spent, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

In a nutshell: Easy to Book, Punctual, Hard-Working, Affordable

They showed up a little early and I was impressed with that. They didn't start charging me until they showed up on the job. They were very polite and very professional and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to move.

We had scheduled highly advertised and popular moving company for our moving date of August 31st, but then our closing date changed to the 5th of September and we had to switch dates. Fortunately, that highly popular moving company was booked We soon learned why this was fortunately for us. Having to find a new company in a hurry, we looked on Angie's list for a new referral and found that Always Affordable Movers had good reviews. I called the owner, Troy Erb, and was amazed that I didn't have to schedule a time for an estimate. He quoted me $75.00 right off the bat. Didn't need anything but my address, no e-mail, no credit card number, no nothing. I called the night before to confirm, and Troy was matter of fact and seemed a little offended that I felt I had to call to confirm. Now that I know him, I know why because he sees himself as reliable, and not someone that needs to be reminded of his commitments, which is true. It's like working with someone in the olden days when a handshake and a man's word stood. He and his crew, Dave, who is the owner of A-1 moving services and shares services with Troy and helper, Josh showed up 10 minutes early. They were diligent in their work, and the allowed us to help, which the other company forbid. With our whole family helping we were able to get a four bedroom house and a full garage moved in 4 hours. We were so impressed with them we bought them lunch and enjoyed getting to know them better at lunch. They are really good guys. Troy did charge us $50.00 more than I expected, but I wasn't even tempted to quibble about it since the quote I got from the other highly popular moving company was three times the price and they only had two men and wouldn't let us help. I paid Always Affordable $425, and they had three big burly men not two little guys. We happened to bump into the crew at lunch time of the other company at lunch, so I was able to compare what we got for our money's worth.
I highly recommend these guys. They were very personable with us and had a lot of integrity, and work hard.

After researching several different moving companies in the Des Moines metro area, we decided to give Always Affordable Movers a chance. Several things appealed to us which included that the time does not start until they arrive at your location, they supply three guys for $75.00 and are very flexible with scheduling. They arrived 15 minutes early, was very professional throughout and was very careful not to damage our items or the new house we moved into. They worked efficiently to ensure that the move was done as quickly as possible. They broke down items and put them back together at the new home without even being asked. They were willing to do anything that you asked of them, including moving furniture around or take furniture out of the house that just put in without any questions. We had one issue with our king size mattress that was a little big for the stairway opening to the second floor. Before bringing it up, they told me the concerns that they have and that there was a possibility that it could scrap the newly finished paint on the ceiling of the stairway. They did everything they could to prevent damage and they only slightly scrapped the ceiling which was okay with me. It was easy touch up. It was very appreciative that they informed me of their concerns before they moved it up and took every precautions to minimize the potential damage knowing that the mattress had to go upstairs. Definitely recommend them for your moving needs.
