The Green Thumbers

The design was bad, even though I was told I could amend how the designer drew it up on paper; but she was mad when I didn't like her design. Three people in landscaping were rude, impolite and condescending. The laborers were here 3 times and still didn't get the job done right. They didn't do what the contract said (amend the soil, for example) and they (landscape architect & project manager) REFUSED to lay flagstones as I directed. I wanted the flagstones placed as close together as possible; they left 4-6 inches between them, so you couldn't naturally walk on them. You had to practically hop from one to the next one. They even used damaged stones, ones on which other stones were saw cut, they had scratched grooves in them. I was accused of trying to get out of paying my bill, which was NOT the case at all; I did pay them in full, but I wish I hadn't because the job is all wrong. I've had to hire another company to try & fix the flagstones. The price of the job was way over what I should have paid. They laid sod, but it was lumpy and bumpy and had holes in the yard. I am so disgusted with the landscaping division. If you use these people, make sure you get every detail in writing. I would not recommend them at all. I cannot download pictures, but the job was so ugly, you wouldn't even want to see it

In 2008 we had a retaining wall built by Green Thumbers and after 2 years it was falling apart. Contacted them and they initially refused to anything about it. So we contacted the owner who kind of blew us off and referred us back to the landscape forman. He initially said he would repair for $3000 after we had spent $4000 for the wall and landscaping. We told him that was unacceptable and we stated we felt they should do the job for free as they readily admitted it was their fault, since the installation crew did not create a proper base for wall. After some more negotiating we agreed on a price of $1200 to repair. It has now been 5 years since the initial install and the wall is starting to shift again.I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Green Thumbers was excellant.  They arrived when they said they would and when their work was delayed because of weather additional crew members were brought to the work site so it could be finished when we hoped to have it finished.  The salesman kept checking if we were happy with the work, which we certainly were. The end product was wonderful.  I had other bids from from area landscapers and Green Thumbers was very competative.

I can not say enough good about the quality of work, the landscapers themselves and the salesman. Because of the weather they were a little behind schedual so they brought in additional crew members members to finish the project so it would be done when they estimated it to be done. I give them an A for every aspect.

Green Thumbers redesigned my landscaping using flowers and plants they had on inventory. The best thing about the work is that they did the work in very timely manner.  HOWEVER, I was mortified to find out that they had WAY OVERBID my landscape project by 40% because I had friends over later that summer and was told that the work could have been done for a LOT less and that Green Thumbers is well known to overbid projects because of their high overhead and labor costs.  I discovered too late that the designers fees were outrageous compared to other local independent contractors.

The owner did not talk to us and the salesman did not seem to want to give up his commission. They had people on the crew who did not know what they were doing. A year after the completion of work it was all falling down. We called them back and they said it would be a couple thousand dollars to repair it. We really were upset about that. I would never use them again.

They do a good job, they show up time and I like their work.
