Perfect Plumbing

The owner and his son arrived to give me a free estimate of the required fixes. Normally I would have done the work myself, however my schedule just would not allow the time needed to do the repairs. I was quoted $285.00 to replace the water shut off on the wall and the water regulator inside the tank. Keeping in mind a new toilet costs on average $125.00 at any local home improvement store I was a bit shocked by their quote. Given my time constraints and the fear of a major water leak I had them do the work. Once I agreed to have them make the requested fixed the owner proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace all of the water shut off valves In not only the bathrooms but the entire house because they were “older”. Given I had personally installed these valves within the past 6 years during a major renovation, I knew they were installed correctly and had no visible defeats or leaks. The shut off valves function perfectly. Despite telling the owner that I wasn’t interested both he and his son continued to present worst case arguments to convince me to agree to plumbing work that was completely unnecessary. I also asked the owner to give me an estimate on replacing a flapper inside another toliet just to see what he would say. Again, I was quoted $285.00 to replace a $12 part that can be purchased at any home improvement store and literally takes 5 minutes to replace. The owner and his son were at my house for 2 .5 hrs to do work that at the very most would have taken me an hour to complete. They needed to leave and come back twice because they grabbed the wrong size shut off valve. These valves are a stock size and should have been easily available as stock parts in their truck. I even told them what size they would need when I scheduled the appointment. On the way out the door the owner paused and told me that I needed to replace the water resistant laminate flooring in the bathroom because it was all rotten. Upon inspection my 3 yr old floor was in perfect condition and in no way needed replacing. I had used this company several years ago and they were wonderful. Given my recent experience I will never use this company again.

They come out immediately. I get different plumbers, but they are always super nice and respectful. They are punctual too!

We have used them several times. We spent probably around $1,200 to $1,400 with them the last time that they came out. They were very prompt and excellent. After all the work was done, the owner called back to make sure that it was done to our satisfaction and he followed up on it. We had somebody else price the whole thing out and he said that it would be $2,000 or something. The quality of their service was excellent. I would really recommend them. Their punctuality was also very good. We would use them again in the future by all means. In fact, we would definitely call them again to fix the magnet right on our washing machine.

They found the problem almost immediately and put in a new bowl was and changed a part in the water tank.

In Jan. 2013 Perfect Plumbing replace 150 feet of water line at my mothers house in Council Bluffs.  She paid them $14,00.00 in full  before the job was completed.  They pulled off the job before the trench was even partially backfilled.  My Mother spoke with Frank the owner on many occasions from Feb. through May, when she had to hospitalized and remains so today.  She asked me to contact Frank and see if he would finish the job he was paid to do.  I have had six conversations with Frank and he has promised to complete the job every week since the beginning of May.
He has used every excuse to delay finishing this job.  In the mean time the yard has eroded to the point that some of the water line is now exposed, and a dangerous and unsightly ditch is cutting through her yard.  The hole next to the foundation is about 3 foot deep and water is now coming into the basement.  The neighbors back yard is being covered in mud run off.
I have been holding off on hiring someone else to finish the work because Frank keeps promising me his crew will get it done.  I believe that since he was already paid for the job he has no incentive to return to finish it.  I also believe that he is taken advantage of the fact my mother is 75 years old and in the hospital.
I have hired a company to come in next week to back fill the trench at another cost to my mother who is on a fixed income, the job will cost her $2,000.00  I have also reported Perfect Plumbing to the BBB as well as the Iowa Department of Health Plumbers Board of Licensure.
And finally I would like to give you an insight into just the kind of man Frank is.  On my first phone call to Frank he spent the first 5 minutes of the conversation telling me how much he respected my Dad.  My Dad was an Architect here in Council Bluffs, who worked closely with Frank on many jobs.  Frank said that my Dad, and I quote, " Saved my butt so many times that I could not thank him enough."
I would NOT recommend Perfect Plumbing to anyone, and as a word of advice do not pay him until you are satisfied that work is good and completed.

In '99 I personally installed all new parts including a cheap shut-off valve.  It took me forever because I'm a novice.  Within the past few weeks my toilet was beginning to act-up & knew the entire set-up needed replaced, but I dreaded replacing the worn-out parts myself.  Finally, in just the past few days, I was forced to manually adust the flap & float after each use.  :-(  I used Angie's List to find a plumber & chose Perfect Plumbing because of its proximity to my home.  Frank arrived exactly on time, checked-out my toilet as it flushed, left to get parts, came back promptly, replaced everything (just like I would have done because I knew everything was shot), cleaned up the mess after the work was done & he left... all within 1 1/2 hours.  He didn't charge for checking out the problem or for leaving to get parts!  His work is first-class, & I recommend him.

They responded the same day I called - rearanging some things to do so as he could tell I was needing help. The person sent was quick, polite, a bit shy but answered all my questions and cleaned up after he was done. I had a question after he left regarding one item on the invoice as it was higher than I had been told. The owner quickly sent the same guy to correct the invoice and it was handled very well. We have looked for a quality plumber for over 8 years and plan to do business with Perfect Plumbing going forward.

I noticed the water heater went out Friday night. I call one company who told me they couldn't get here to even take a look until 6 that night. I called Perfect Plumbing around ten in the morning. The first person was here within an hour to look at the problem, confirmed it was the water heater, and gave me an estimate. When I ok'ed the work, he left and returned with an assistant and a new water heater. Everything was finished and cleaned up by 1.

We called them and they came out the next day. He was a very respectful man. The owner himself was here most of the time. The quality was excellent. They hauled all of the old stuff away as part of their service.
