Wagehoft Home and Land is a local company and Ray Wagehoft is the owner. He is very dependable. He did what he said he was going to do. Our neighbor referred us to him. The other neighbor had called a bunch of roofers and he recommended him highly. The price was good. There was one other company whose price was a little bit lower, but it was at the low-end. He was very professional and efficient. He gave us a computerized statement. He told us exactly when he would be here and he was. I didn?t have any problems with their cleanup. They cleaned it up immediately. We have 3 small dogs and there were absolutely no problems. There were no nails or anything else. We have recommended them to our other neighbors. The price was very reasonable too.
Description of Work: Wagehoft Home and Land, Inc installed a new roof on our house. They replaced and installed shingles over-ridge vents.

Nephews were unaware of work until Aunt asked one to check on the work at the house. He and his mother, (sister-in-law), went to the house and EVERYTHING was gone. Personal papers, personal items, furniture, carpet, everything down to the walls. When asked what happened to the personal items, we were told they were sold at garage sales, etc. They had access to financial papers, account information and this aunt was known to "stash money" as many do from that age. Aunt needs to cash in her 401K to pay this contract. She doesn't have the money for this type of work and we feel this contractor may have done this in the past. Remember, he met her at the nursing home.
Description of Work: We are currently having this company investigated by the BBB and the State of Iowa. Contractor contacted 80 year old aunt confined to nursing home and "confided to her" that the company was having hard times and laying off workers. Aunt (who has turned Power of Attorney over to nephew) signed a 20 page contract and the inital estimate was $16,000 and he turned over additional charges after the estimate totalling somewhere in the area of $24,000 to $27,000. We are currently trying to sort out the actual cost. Contract included bill of $20,153.26 + $266.24 tax = $20419.50 and then added 10% Over head and 10% Profit for a total of $24,496.52. This where all they had to do was clear out trash (and it was bad) paint and replace carpet in a small two bedroom. They charged for rewiring all the fixtures (didn't need) and failed to get proper permits (as per the city code) and have it inspected. They charged $75 to "detach and reset refrigerator while painting and $106 to Detach and Reset Range while painting. Other charges too numerous to add totaling the work for 3 weeks of $24,000 +.
