Lowe's

My experience in the store was great. I worked with salesman Bryan Sylvester who made it fun to pick out a door. I contracted for the door and installation. Bryan told me no one would call me until the custom door had arrived in the store. The installation company, First Choice in Clinton, called a few days later to schedule an installation appointment. On the day of the appointment they did not show up, nor did they call to say they were showing up. The next day they called and said that since the door had not been delivered to the store yet they could not do the work. I would have appreciated at least a phone call to notify me that they were not on their way, instead I spent hours waiting for them. I would have appreciated an apology. We re-scheduled for an appointment that Joe at First Choice said would be "during eight AM to nine AM." On the day of the appointment they did not show up, nor did they call to say they were showing up. I left my house at 9:10AM to go to work. Twenty minutes later at 9:30, the installer called to say he had arrived and did not understand why I was not at my home. I was very upset. I called the Lowe's store and explicitly stated I would need an apology to be able to work with this installation company. The Lowe's central installation office called and scolded me for not being at my home at 9:30, past our appointment time. They did not apologize. Then First Choice installation called again asking to re-schedule. To be fair, they apologize for not answering their phone that day, but they also scolded me for not being at my home at 9:30, past our appointment time. I listened in and decided I could not give my hard-earned money to a business that is so unprofessional. If you are going to be late or cannot make it, fine, but you should at least call to say you are not coming, or at least apologize when someone is upset about you not showing up. You should not scold your customers for adhering to the schedule that was planned and agreed upon. I won't ever hire Lowe's to do installation again. Fortunately, the store manager was very understanding and refunded the labor part of my contract when I called to cancel. I will be picking up the door, doorknob, and other materials from the store and looking for a new contractor for this project.

Good help with the purchase and setting up the installation as well as following up on the work. I had a good experience purchasing a stove with them and having it installed so I went to them again. Not as successful replacing a tub spout that a guy in plumbing at the store recommended but I shouldn't have tried to do it myself! Did better with the recommendation on honeycomb Levelor blinds and having them cut to the size I needed that a woman working in the window treatment section told me about when she saw me looking at the more expensive custom blinds. Overtime I go there I tend to get good help and service for the most part.
