Barnum Floors

These guys are top notch...One of the best flooring contractors we have ever dealt with period....from start to finish they were outstanding...being new to the area we rely on Angie's List for all our contractor needs, and neither "the list" or Barnum Floors has let us down....our install was pretty basic, nothing too complicated. What attracted us to Barnum Floors initially was the fact that hardwood flooring is all they do. We didn't want some fly by night installer, we wanted some one who knows and loves their "craft"....visit their showroom, and their website and you will quickly realize just how good they are, at what they do....They listen, make recommendations, and they truly care.....Even after they have the sale. We recently had an issue with a vaporizer that sprung a leak. Although the water never traveled all the way to the hardwood, it still causing some "lifting". Not sure how to correct the problem, I took a picture, emailed Kathy. I heard back from Kathy within an hour, and received a call from Gary later the same day. Gary explained that although the water never reached the hardwood, that we had wicking going on, and discussed our options. We could either replace the affected boards, OR, wait it out, that it could take a few months, but the wood should revert back to its previous state. It was a golden opportunity for them to take advantage of us, and do an unnecessary repair, but they didn't . That alone should speak volumes to anyone looking for a quality hardwood flooring contractor. It's been our experience that very few contractors, once they have received final payment, will still go out of their way to help, after the sale. Since it was a very large area, we moved out of the house for the week. They were done on schedule and the finished product was very well done.

We have three dogs, carpet in family room and dining room.  I have had to replace the carpet about every other year and decided to that was too much.  We wanted a more permanent solution.  I looked at a few other places, but then decided that I wanted custom floors.  Barnum Floors was great.  The price seemed a bit high, but I only looked at companies that ordered and installed the wood-- not custom.  
It was a small process in choosing the flooring that I wanted.  They had so many types, sizes and colors of stain. After I decided on the type of wood, then the size of the plank, they scheduled me into their schedule.  Kathy was who I worked with, but they are all great.  The turn around time was longer than I expected- about 6 weeks.  But now I understand that they had to order the wood, cut it to my different sizes, top scrape,burn edges...  The anticipation of what my floors would like was the worst part.  I could't wait.  Finally the wood was ready.  It had to acclimate to my house for a week.  
The men tore out the carpet in a morning for two rooms.  They started laying the dining room first.  That took the rest of the first day and into the next.  When done with the dining room, they layed the family room.  That took a whole day.  One more day for the top oil coat.  We couldn't walk on the finished product for 48 hours.  Everyone involved with the process was great.  They are truly a local family business, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for high quality custom wood flooring!!

2 very experienced workmen. Little dust from sanding. Fast and efficient. 2 coats. Workmen were helpful in moving very large plant.

The wood floors were done on schedule, there was very little dust and the floors looked brand new.

Juan and his assistant arrived on time, worked diligently, and did an EXCELLENT job. We are very pleased!

Excellent!! The estimate provided by Gary Barnum was right on. Everyone I dealt with at Barnum Floors was helpful and friendly and professional. There were no complications. The work was completed exactly as planned and on schedule. The floors look fantastic and I am 100% happy with the results!

Gary Barnum knows the business of wood flooring & has a knowledgeable crew of workers - from office to job site - as well. We had ideas for this project, he added/advised based on his creative expertise & we're most pleased with the outcome. Creativity, punctuality, proficiency...I'm gushing but it's a job well done & a wonderful transformation of 2 large rooms of our house.

Everything went very well. They are very knowledgeable and professional. With wood flooring, it can be difficult to explain all of the options available. They did a great job explaining my options as well as answering any of my questions. I was very pleased with their service.

They helped us purchase a beautiful Siberian oak hardwood. It was stained dark, but they agreed to remove the stain at no additional charge. When the dark stain was removed it revealed a lovely, varied wood pattern with light and dark colors. The installation took longer than expected because of the humidity in the air, but Barnum was in contact with us everyday, reporting on the progress and the work performed. When they encountered a problem they called us right away to come and look at it and helped us decide what to do. Everyone, from sales to installers, to follow-up were very professional. They showed us how we could save money by finishing and installing the base boards. They came out and installed the piece connecting to the carpet at no extra charge, when we discovered we couldn't do it. I highly recommend working with this company. They are creative, dependable, hard-working, solicitous, and friendly.

The only problem I had is that both times there was very minor damage to my refrigerator finish. The first time was a scratch, the 2nd time a dent. I am pretty picky so it may be another person would not notice. The only other issue is that in just a few places, there is hair that got caught under the finish. You would not notice it unless you were cleaning the floor on your knees. Overall, it was just a GREAT experience. The one thing we did to our house that turned out fabulous!!!!! We do not miss the carpet at all.

It went fairly quickly. It took a couple of days to install. Then they came back to sand and later to seal. It looks very nice.

Very positive experience overall. Company mixed dark and light boards randomly to obtain even appearance. Finish was smooth. No large knots.

The project went very well, and the end product is beautiful. The project did take two days longer than expected, but this had more to do with unique circumstances than it did with the company. The price was higher than competitors, but the end product seems well worth it.

It went great! I wouldn't change a thing -- except maybe to have done it all a year ago.

They were very easy to work with from the sales to when they installed everything. We would use them again. They were very courteous when they were there working.
