Budget Truck Rental, LLC

I used my credit card and reserved a 24 foot truck a month before my move date. At 1:30 in the afternoon, the day before my scheduled move, I received a call informing me that only a 12 foot truck was available. I was horrified and angry. The woman on the phone informed me that she did not have to listen to my anger and suggested I contact their 1-800 customer service number, which I proceded to do. Customer service was very understanding. I offered to drive 50 miles to Davenport in order to pick up the size truck I needed (and indeed, had reserved). The man assured me that this could probably be arranged and that he'd put me in an inventory queue and that I'd get a call-back within 2 hours. I waited 3 hours, until 4:30 pm and never got a call-back. I ended up going to U-Haul instead. This was a horrible experience and caused me to spend twice as much as necessary on my move (since these truck rental companies all charge mileage - and being forced to rent a truck half the size I needed forced me to make 2 trips). In addition, the lack of explanation for the last minute cancellation was maddening. I might have felt differently if the woman canceling my truck had said something like, 'I am so sorry, but our big truck broke down.' but instead she seemed cold and indifferent to my plight. I would never want anyone else to go this experience.
