As above this was the worst move I have ever had.
Do not  hire a moving company without checking references and then  calling the references.
Don't hire a local mover just because you think they will be  more personal.  I would go with a large moving company that has a good name and also has references that you can check out. For example United.

Terrible.
Go with a reliable moving company.  I made the mistake in going with a local home town moving company.
They knew exactly what I had from the estimate they gave me.  They lied and said I added furniture.
They should have loaded one day and delivered the next day.  Instead they delivered my items in the dark around midnight.
As I stated above, they used 3 trucks and everything was mixed up, furniture and garage items.
VERY BAD MOVE.

The day of the move, I called to verify the amount discussed and was told that if that was what was said, that was what it would be. I gave instructions as to what I wanted moved, in the house and the garage, and was told I could just go to the new home and they would be there. Upon them moving the items in my home, I discovered many deep scratches on the window of my front loader dryer, the side of my dryer and then came the final bill that was $196 more than discussed; at this time was handed an unsigned contact of their charges and conditions.. I did call to find out why but was told that we would take care of this after the holiday. I could never reach anyone but an answering machine or voice mail and had no return call. After many attempts, I had to send a certified letter and then file charges in small claims court. The one call that I finally was able to reach their office, it was one of the worst and unprofessional experiences. The language was so horrible and excuses were unacceptable and then she hung the phone up on me. That was when I filed the charges.
As for the contract, I was very surprised as to this. It states that they are not responsible for any damages to your possessions, and if there is truly major damage, they will only pay 60 cents per pound. They also will offer to move boxes you pack, do not let them!!! This contract states they are not responsible for anything that goes wrong with what you pack that they move. They also stated in court that they charged me for the time that they folded their blankets and driving time home. Also, they do not move appliances or heavy items with appliance dollies...they use lug straps. Also moving my dryer they did not use shrink wrap to protect it, they claimed they could not. In hindsite....Sears had the wrap protecting it and had no problem moving it in, why could it not be moved out as such?
If anyone would be wanting to hire this company, I would have witnesses with them as to what is being said, I would have a signed contract but one that would cover any damage by this company and they would be responsible for damage, I would also make sure that they are charging for legimate/valid charges....and also record any and all conversations between both parties.
As for recommending this company, I would have to say find someone or anyone else to do a qualified job.
