Slumberland Furniture Store

I went to select furniture for a guest bedroom that I recently finished remodeling. I took my fiance (who does not live with me) along. I am a middle aged female. The selection was the best in town for what I was looking for and the price was in my range--not cheap, but not the most expensive. That part was good. The problem was with the sales guy--Don Davis. I noticed how he would only talk to and look at my boyfriend. Even after I said what I wanted and paid with MY credit card, he proceeded to look past me (AND WALK PAST ME) to shake my fiance's hand--didn't even really acknowledge me--the person who bought and paid for the bedroom set after the sales. He even, when writing up the sale, called over to my fiance to ask his first name after writing down my info. This purchase was for MY house! Lo and behold, the Thank You note arrived today from the sales guy addressed to "The <my last name>s" and then the note was to <fiance's first name> & <my first name> and the sales guy proceeded to thank us for our purchase! Obviously he made several sexist mistakes and assumptions! When I called to correct my customer account information to make sure they knew it was MY house and that I was very put off by the treatment and assumptions made, the woman who answered the phone was very apologetic. You can bet I WON'T be shopping there again.

Have been satisfied with numerous furniture purchases from this store. Had a negative experience purchasing a mattress. Having never purchased one before it was all a guessing game to us, but we were willing to spend any amount to be comfortable. Our previous mattress was comfortable for us, but was old, sagging and simply past it's prime. We felt like the salesman didn't really have any advice whatsoever on what might be good for us beyond 'more expensive is generally better'. We didn't know the difference until the money was spent and it was too late. We bought a tempurpedic first, which we didn't like, and returned it for a luxury inner-spring, which we actually disliked even more. If you know exactly what kind of mattress you need (or you're one of those lucky people tha tcan sleep on anything), or precisely the firmness or softness that lets you sleep comfortably, go ahead and shop here for a mattress, they sell a wide array of them. If you're not sure and will need guidance or advice from someone who knows about sleep and sleeping comfortably, go somewhere else. Or do a LOT of research beforehand. Be warned that if you return a mattress once, that's it, your next choice is your last, no matter how intolerable. Also of note, if you buy a Tempurpedic mattress and they give you "free" pillows, but you end up returning the mattress, they then charge you for the pillows at $100 each (Pillows are non-returnable). If you don't think you'll use them to begin with, and aren't sure if the mattress will work for you anyway, pass. Our dog sleeps on ours... it's a $200 dog bed!
