I have him $600 for two new windows and he kept telling me that his supplier was behind and that they would be available "next week" for 12 weeks. When they finally came in I told him that I wanted to be there for the installation. I came home for lunch one morning and there he was with my siding off, pulling out the old windows. I withheld payment of $400 for 12 weeks while trying to get the manufacturer information to see if I could deduct the windows from my taxes. During that time he put a business card of a police officer in my door with a note indiating there was a suit filed against me for non-payment. I called him and confronted him with the lie (no suit was filed, thisi was just harrasment) and told him that I required specific performance prior to him recieving final payment. When he gave me the information that I asked for I sent a check. My roof still leaks. I will have to pay someone else to fix it.
Description of Work: I had this handyman do several projects for my home: remove carpet and replace in 2 bedrooms and lay tile in the bathroom, replace windows and fix leaking skylight. I work long hours and have difficulty getting time off to be at home for repairs. i don't have anything that someone would really want to steal so I felt comfortable after he had done the bathroom and the bedroom floors to allow him to have a key to do the other work. He took my check for the new wiindows and proceded to take 12 weeks to get installed. He came back several times to look at the roof/skylight which continued to leak. He never stole anything, and didn't take advantage of having the key. I believe it just changed the dinamics and he thought he could do what he wanted and take all the time in the world.
