Whole process went very smoothly. Estimator was on time, thorough and provided options for lessening the expense as well as expense lessening decisions that cost more in the long run. Packers and loaders were very quick, polite and careful in getting things ready and on the truck. Delivery was flexible based on our new home's closing date slipping a bit. Items were placed in rooms as requested and furniture was set-up properly in all instances. Move coordinator was in contact and helpful throughout the process ensuring no surprises.

These guys really know how to play furniture Tetris and can maximize what can be moved safely in your truck. The arrived and helped finish packing, wrapped furniture and ensured everything was positioned for a 900 mile trip. While they were certainly not the lowest cost option, they provided fantastic service. We used Maher to move us from Austin, TX to North Liberty, IA (company relo) and hired them to fill the gaps with out move back. For do it yourselfers, you will save a lot of $$ by hiring the pros to pack/load the truck that you will drive (uhaul).

I am answering this per your request. Apparently I did not finish it. This was a long time ago. And I know I will never use it again as I am too old to move now.
But I thought at the time they did a good job and put in their Maher Storage unit where we picked it up when we got ready to move into our new home.

I called to get an idea of what it would cost for an interstate move and a very personable gentleman named Mike came to do the estimate. He made the experience easy and took the time to sit and answer questions before submitting the estimate. He was available by telephone, text and email for further questions. He answered all sorts of questions about types of boxes and tape and to use, packing for fragile items and difficult to pack items such as televisions, as well pricing and insurance. I went to several other companies to get estimates and I finally decided on Maher Bros based on the comfort level I had in working with Mike.
The movers came in a timely manner. Joe and his crew spent the day packing and promised to make the delivery in time for me to get a few days to unpack before Christmas. They were on time on delivery day and despite a rainy start, they got the truck unpacked and checked to ensure that all items were accounted for. They were pleasant, careful and methodical and Joe seemed to remember each individual item that appeared on his inventory list. The only part of the experience that did not go as planned was that the estimate was considerably under what I had been quoted so we ended up paying $1500 more than we had planned. I'm still trying to figure out why there was such a discrepancy... possibly I was not clear about what I had planned to take from the basement and garage. I would recommend this company to anyone who is considering doing an interstate move.

Very very bad. We were in a long distance move. The booking agent does not communicate with the local agent at all.
We booked Allied for our moving back in April to move at the end of July. We booked their full pack-load-move-unload service. The booking agent asked us to pick three preferred days and then they can tell us exactly which day they were coming to pack up AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR to the pack day. So we picked our days and waited until the last Friday before our preferred days and there was no word on exactly which day they were gonna come. We called and was told that they were still working on it. They will call us the next Monday to let us know....... Monday the whole day, no word...... On Tuesday afternoon we finally got their call saying that they were coming to pack up at 8 am on Wednesday. NOT SO HELPFUL PEOPLE, TO GIVE SUCH A SHOOOOOORT NOTICE! Wednesday was not even our preferred packing day and we had a full plan for the day. We made millions of calls. Our local agent said that our move was booked one month before, and yet when we called the prior Friday the Allied people still said that it was not known! At last, basically our only response from Allied is: let us pack you tomorrow OR YOU GO FIND A DIFFERENT MOVING COMPANY! It was the end of July when so many people are trying to move. How were we supposed to find a moving company in two days for a long distance move? EXTREMELY IRRESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN MISTAKES! At that point, we just had to cancel all our plans on Wednesday Thursday and Friday JUST TO COORDINATE WITH OUR MOVING COMPANY. And then it took the truck 13 full days to travel just over 700 miles to finally arrived at my new home. 13 days without any furniture and cookware. You can only imagine.
Moving, especially long distance move, is itself stressful enough. But I had to say, Allied, you only made the whole experience even more stressful! I do not recommend using them to any one who hires moving company to HELP with the moving process.

Sales people and move coordinators were very professional and punctual. The moving crew was very organized, treated our belongings with care, and were in and out of the house in now time.
