Brian came out to look at our chimney after a rainstorm caused a leak in the interior ceiling and wall. He said the the flashing around the chimney was in bad shape and the bricks were spalling in many places. He reflashed and waterproofed the chimney. In August of this year we had a long, steady rain and the ceiling leaked in the house in the same place. We were having masonry work done for a landscaping project and I asked the mason to take a look at our chimney. He pointed out right away that Brian had put the flashing on top of the shingles and caulked around it, "a big no no" according to the mason. He also pointed out that there were cracks in the brick joints, an issue Brian said he would ask a mason to contact us to fix. That never happened. After the second leak, I tried contacting Brian on his business and cell phone numbers, and he never responded to my calls. He also gave another number of someone else for the "new" business contact person, and that guy never responded either. I don't know about his skills as a chimney sweep, but chimney repairs are not his area of competency.
