Blaze Hair Salon

I walked in for a foil high and low light. I am new to town. After
living in NY for 18 years--I admit I am spoiled--I miss my stylist
there. I had a bad color experience prior to moving here. The colorist
highlighted my hair TOO much. I needed someone to adjust it. I explained
this to the colorist at Blaze. She and I were on the same page when her
and quot;team memberand quot; member came over to change everything we agreed upon.
Which was that she would do a high and low light foil (at the same time) to make my hair
look natural blonde with depth. When her team leader came over she told
her to ONLY do the low light. By the time I realized she changed the
plan--it was TOO LATE. I was a brunette. AUGH! Since I have pale
skin--it was awful. I look sick and washed out now. Then they explained
their price system. They divide the steps up into price categories. If
you want a blow dry --AFTER you get your hair colored--it will cost you!
That is IF You WANT to see how well they colored your hair. They are
going to charge you. Or you can go blow dry your hair yourself at one of
their stations. Takes a lot of the salon and quot;experienceand quot; out of going to
the salon--doesn't it? Esp when you pay these kind of prices. When I
told them it was kindof dark--no it actually was TOO dark. I was told to see if I
might get used to it. When I called the next day to say I still was not
happy--I was still told we did it our way because we thought that was
best. In short --they did not listen to what I asked for....and I ended
up paying for it anyway. Now I am a brunette and I have to find a
colorist in a new city that I have NO CLUE where I can find a good
colorist. Every woman's nightmare. Time to go to the Barber and get a boy cut.

The overall experience was great. Terra knows my name, as do many of the staff, and I was greeted at the door with a smile. I was offered a beverage while I waited. They always keep me informed if the appointment might start a bit late and make sure I'm comfortable while I wait. Once in the chair my style needs are discussed to make sure I get exactly what I want. Following the cut Terra styled it and gave me instructions. I have been going to Blaze for a few years now, and everyone there is so friendly and helpful! I am a faithful devotee of Terra, who is a great stylist and an efficient manager. The salon has a clean, modern, upbeat atmosphere and I feel like I always get a great deal for my money. I also love the fact that you can opt out of the shamppo and style to save a little money, and just style it yourself at the "style bar" in the rear of the salon. They provide everything you need to fix your hair and get out the door quickly. I have frequented salons that charge much more and are supposed to provide a spa-like experience that have not delivered like Blaze has. Thank you ladies for making me look and feel good! I would recommend Blaze to anyone (and often have when I get compliments on my hair)!

I was very pleased. It is just 2 or 3 blocks from my house. When I called they were able to get me in the next day. It was clean. Everybody was very nice. Pricing wise it was kind of mid range. It was probably more than I have paid to get my hair done in years because my daughter was a cosmopolitan for quite a few years, but my eyebrow wax was free because I had never been there before.
