I hired BF a couple times. BEST thing I can say is they come when you call. They usually communicate that they are sending one person--but more than one person shows up--not sure if that increases the charge. I know plumbing is not cheap. Just saying. It is nice that they give you info on WHO will be coming to my home--but then when ANOTHER person shows at my door and I dont have info on that person--it sort of defeats the reason they sent me info at all. (on one person) Also why do I need two plumbers for one job?I suppose one is in training?? Who knows? They do--it would help if they would tell me. And if I am being charged for TWO. Esp. when it is a Friday before a Holiday Weekend. I called for two reasons--one toilet was not flushing right--or filling the tank right. AND another toilet that they worked on a few years ago was still giving me problems--it was leaking. Asked them to finally fix it right since they put it back in place. I put a new flapper on the first toilet that was not flushing right--and was not filling the tank. Plumber said I put the flapper on right--then we looked at the other toilet that they worked on--he said it was not a leak but the toilet was broken--I needed a new toilet--it would cost me more for him to fix the toilet --or it sounded like he did not want to fix it--and be accountable for them not putting it back right the last time they worked on it--so he said I should pay for a new toilet--cost he estimated JUST for the toilet--not including the cost to do the work--$600--and then the other work on the other toilet...we went to that toilet because he put some fizzy tabs in it to make sure it was not a problem with the flapper. Gave it some time to see --he said the flapper was good. He said it was the fill tank valve. I asked how much for THAT?? Mind you--it was 2pm Friday--before Xmas weekend--it was not like I could call another plumber to get another quote--and if I let it go--the toilet would have to be turned off all weekend--for the holiday--no one was working over the holiday--unless I wanted to pay after hours time--double prices--if anyone would answer the phones. Sigh.... I told him--dont you have discounts for someone that is older etc.... He said maybe I can give you 5% off---this was after he quoted me a price over $420 for that toilet. Two plumbers (I think--still not clear if the other guy was a plumber or if he was a mentor shadowing the guy they said was coming to my home in an email) Barely at my home 20 minutes and already telling me that a job to replace a fill valve--which took him 15 minutes---will cost me over $400--I told him forget it on the replacement of the other toilet when he did not seem to understand that Ben Franklin should do the right thing and fix the work they left broken in my home. In other words--I was between a rock and a hard place--like a stranded driver in the middle of a hwy and only one tow truck for miles that was willing to come tow me. (and charge me a lot!) When he left I went to use the toilet--it still did not flush right. I had to keep flushing and holding it down to make it flush completely--which was WHY I called in the first place. AND NOW the toilet makes a noise all the time like air running through the pipes. Not sure why? Maybe it will stop-I have no idea why it is doing it--but it does it every other second. Annoying. My old fill valve did not do that. I had to Google to see what the AVG cost for this FIX was --in general--it came back that the AVG cost was $200 LESS than what I PAID! WOW! That made me feel even worse! But it made sense--Since I looked up the cost for a Fill Valve Part & Avg charge for a plumber per hour. I am fair--but Im not here to get scammed. Esp before Xmas And I am not paying for a second guy that really is not doing any work. (other than running to the truck to get some things for the other guy--which is nice but not worth the ...

I was not expecting $600 more when they had to come back and finish after I added the shiplap. I should of gotten more estimates. Almost $3000 for two water lines install a sink and toilet, plus running to drain pipe

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Company is scam artist, they get you invested with $98 service call fee ($78 +fuel surcharge+tax) because they refuse to give any ball park estimate over the phone. Then this company quotes you $1941.89 for the exact same repairs that I had another licensed plumber just complete for 313.51.

Drain Clog or Blockage - Clear
Terrible experience, called for them to clear back-up in the basement. They turned on the water in the upstairs shower and sink. Left it running and flooded the bathroom floor. Tried to fix the sink in the bathroom, packed up, and went to the truck without telling me they had stopped it up completely- I ran out to get them to fix and they said a piece of galvanized pipe was blocking it. The solution offered $3700 to replace pipes. $562 and I was worse than when I started. Talked to the manager to get the $191 charge to the snake drain refunded, and had to call 4 times- mo a refund. Lucky we were able to get the drain working with drain and plunger. Hope others can avoid my mistakes- go somewhere else for plumbing needs.

Drain Clog or Blockage - Clear
I had a clogged kitchen sink (disposal issue). I made an appointment since I couldn't be home that afternoon so they came the next morning. The guy who showed up, went immediately to the basement to our kitchen clean-out which was directly below the kitchen sink on the wall. I explained to him what had been happening. We'd lived in this 25 year-old house only a few years. After laying down a sheet on the floor, he got a bucket and some rags and started to twist off the cap on the clean out. A few minutes later, that cap came flying off in his hands and water and gunk came shooting out of the hole. It shot out on the technician, the walls, the floor, everywhere! I did not expect that and he said that he put too much pressure on the line when he was releasing it (I don't know, that just what he said). Grabbing the bucket & wiping himself down, he got things under control and started to get his machine ready. He put the auger in the pipe. To make a 2 hour ordeal short, he had to go down the line twice and he put his camera in twice to get the job done. The technician was very nice but what I was left with when he drove away and the means that it took, to get my sink unclogged was very ridiculous. I will never call them again. I paid my bill in full (over $300) and now, I have to repaint my walls and steam vac my floors. I don't have the original paint as this was painted before we moved in. The technicians magic spray and the Magic Erasers that he said would work, didn't. I am stuck dealing with a mess, that they created. It is very frustrating that this company creates this kind of a mess and expects their clients to clean up after them. I'd never call them again, I'll call anyone else. I was very disappointed even though I did get my sink unclogged. This happened on 9-20-19. I was finally contacted after posting a review. The manager from Benjamin Franklin called and apologized for the problems that we had occurred and said they were planning a meeting to address this issue. He also told me to send him any receipts that we would have to fix the issues (painting and cleaning) and they would reimburse us. We did the initial clean-up to stop the contamination right away but we couldn't paint the basement till later as we didn't have time. We sent our receipts to him via mail to their business address and we haven't heard nothing from them. It is now May 2020, it's been 6 months since he called me and told me to send him the receipts. We did all the work ourselves although he told me to hire someone- glad I didn't go that route as I'd be out more money. They did sloppy work and they can't even back-up their promises. Very disappointing.

Our hot water heater started leaking on Monday morning. Within an hour Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was at our house to assess the problem. They called in the need for a new unit and by 5pm that same day we had a new water heater installed. We appreciate the quick response.

Their service manager came to our home on a Saturday and replaced our failed garbage disposal. Job was done professionally. He cleaned up after finishing the removal and installation. There was no added cost for coming on a weekend and the service fee was waived as we were first time customers. Very satisfied.

I'm 75, had 2 back surgeries and just released from hospital. My garbage disposal quit and wanted to replace the kitchen faucet. I purchased the disposal and faucet from Menards and had them on hand. I was charged $445. for a routine remove and replacement of the two items. I was told I'd be getting a receipt sent to me as I paid by check. That was a week ago and I haven't gotten a receipt. I've also learned the price should have been closer to $150. I think I get ripped off! I will never hire them again!

Got same day service and the clog was snaked and I signed up for the drain cleaning via special chemicals they sold me. Their straight forward pricing guide was easy to follow, but when a PVC cleanout broke, they replaced it, but didn't have a line item for doing that type of repair, so they used the cheapest option for that, but it was still 100 bucks. Seemed like a lot for 10 dollars in parts which I could have easily done. I would have spoken up and had them not fix it if I would have known how much it was going to cost. Oh well. At least they'll warranty the repair. Other than that, they were great and fun to work with!
