Sometime ago a rock chipped paint away from the roof of my Hyundai Accent right where the windshield/roof connect. This rather minor incident blossomed into a rust spot the size of a dime in a short amount of time. Worried about it rusting through I could not wait any longer so I started getting estimates. When I took it to Boon, he was pleasant, a small business owner, and the price was right. Moreover, it was close to my job and apartment. The work that I saw coming out of his garage looked professional. He told me to drop it off on Tuesday the following week and it would be done in two to three days. This was the typical time estimate that I had received from two other autobody shops in the area and was perfect because this was all and ldquo;out of pocketand rdquo; expense for me and I didn't want to pay on a rental any longer than necessary. On Monday, the day before I needed to take the car in, I received a call requiring me to be out of town for a few days. I called Boon and made sure it was okay to drop the car that Monday evening. He was okay with it. I paid for the work to be done and then proceeded to get the rental that I needed for the next few days. On my way back on Thursday, I called to see when I should pick my car up and was told that he needed the car for one more day. I thought okay, one more day would be okay. I called the rental car company to request another day. Another day passed, no word from Boon. On Friday afternoon I stopped by to make certain that everything was done so I could return the rental car. Upon entering his garage, I was told that he needed the car for half a day on Saturday, that the rust spots on the roof was giving him problems. I was assured that it would be done by Saturday at 2pm at the latest and that he would refund at $25 a day the extra days that I had the rental car. I could understand the possibility of unforeseen issues and thought, even though now this was going to cut into my 4th of July vacation, a half a days delay would not hurt me. I left a little frustrated. On Saturday morning, I got my first call from the shop telling me that they needed the car for a couple more days. I stated that this was unacceptable. I had plans to be out of town that weekend. I needed the car and people were starting to wonder where I was and why I wasn't already on my way. The woman from Boon's said she would call me back in an hour to let me know what could be done. When she called back I was told that it would be done by 5pm and not to worry about the rental. At 8pm, I dropped the rental and Boon's wife was nice enough to pick me up from the rental car company because they do not and ldquo;pick you upand rdquo; or and ldquo;drop you offand rdquo; when their closed. Upon arrival at Boon's, I was told that when I got back from my vacation that I should drop by and leave the car for an afternoon. There was additional buffing that needed done but it should only take an afternoon. I was told that I should not wash my car because things needed time to and ldquo;setupand rdquo; or and ldquo;cureand rdquo;. Upon returning to my apartment that evening I saw hundreds if not thousands of pockmarks - like dimples in a golf ball - in the paint and an area that still needed to be buffed. I was hopeful that this would all be taken care of upon my return. I went on, by now, my shortened vacation. I called Boon on Monday when I returned to set the date for finishing up. The day scheduled was Wednesday. When I got to Boon's, much to my surprise, Boon wanted to rent a car for me so that I and ldquo;could do what I had to do that dayand rdquo;. It was nice of him, but all I thought was it is going to take more than an afternoon. Indeed, it turned into a second day. On Thursday I got my car back in the afternoon. Nice and shiny and still pockmarked! I am so very frustrated. I have been more than patient with all of this and ldquo;run aroundand rdquo; that I have endured. I believe that 17 years of experience would produce a better quality of service --- where the bodywork was concerned and communication with a customer. I am truly disappointed in my overall experience and have spent too much time and money dealing with Boon and his autobody shop. I wanted to give the small businessman my business. I would have hoped that he was deserving of it and completed the work to the customer's satisfaction. On July 13th I called Boon's shop about the pockmarks and again on July 16th. Both times I was told he was busy and he would get back to me. As of today (July 19), I have not heard anything from him. Not too sure how difficult it is for a shop owner to take time to return a call to a customer but what I do know is, as of today, I would not recommend Boon's Twisted Essentials to anyone in the future. P.S. I hope to provide an update in the future.
