Longs Construction

I'm so glad that I spoke with Gene Wike at Gilchrest Jewett Lumber about porch railings, because he helped me pick out materials, helped with design, and provided me with the names of three contractors who could get the job done, including Dennis Long of Long Construction. Dennis gave me a reasonable quote and warned me that he had some bigger jobs ahead of mine but would try to fit this little job in when possible. Within a week, he called to say he had a few hours and could send a two-man crew over to do the job. Brian and Eric did an excellent job and I am so pleased with the new railing. Neighbors and family are impressed with the look of the railing. I would be happy to employ Long Construction for any future remodeling jobs. Many thanks to all involved!

This was a major purchase for us, and as such we had lots of questions along the way.  Denny was very patient, working with us through the planning process, suggesting options and helping us to feel more comfortable.  We must have met with him half a dozen times before we were ready to commit to the project, due to our constant questions and changing requests.  Denny's top concern is that his customers are comfortable with the process, and that he provides what they are looking for.  The work is absolutely top-quality (and the addition is beautiful).  While the cost was higher than we had hoped, it was finished within our agreed budget...he also investigated a lot of potential issues he saw up front, such as unique HVAC challenges for the room, septic lateral line issues (rural home), and capacity of existing electrical units, to ensure there would be no surprise costs later on; other contractors we had talked with did not do this, and I have a feeling we'd have had some unpleasant surprises had we gone with one of them.  Denny and his team do most of the work themselves, sub-contracting out only a few parts, such as HVAC, electric, roofing and foundation...and he keeps strong relationships with his subs so that they are as responsive to his needs, as he was to ours.  On a couple of minor issues with a fireplace and furnace toward the end of the process, Denny remained the point of contact for us with those contractors, and he kept on it until he was sure we were satisfied.  Overall, I can't say enough good things about the work, and the demeanor, or Denny and his crew.  You will feel as though you are their only customer, even though they are certainly juggling multiple jobs at once.

They are very personable and good about answering our questions. It was finalized about three weeks ago. I don’t have the figures in front of me so I’m not sure the exact price right now but the price was reasonable.
