We are DELIGHTED with Barks and Wags, and we heartily recommend them to anyone in the area needing some training for their dog.  By the end of the first training session, not only had our puppy learned "sit," but WE had learned how to effectively practice with her, teach her new things, and modify her behavior to fit our household expectations.  She has completed three training sessions (with the fourth to be scheduled soon!), and she now is confident with several commands!  Additionally, she walks on a leash like a pro-- limited pulling or dawdling (these behaviors are still present, but only in the early morning when the birds are chirping and the bunnies are hopping and our puppy wants to befriend/kill ALL OF THEM).
Amanda is incredibly knowledgeable, and her love of and respect for dogs is evident in her work.  She has taught our puppy some amazing skills, and she has taught US how to be better dog companions.

I have taken my 3 herding dogs to doggie day care once a week for over a year. They love it. I love it. They get lots of exercise and come home exhausted so I get a night to relax! Amanda and her team really love the dogs and are very attentive to their behavior. They put the dogs into packs that are well planned for best results and move them around as behavior and energy calls for it. It's not just a place to drop your dogs off to play all day. There is definitely a structure and method to the routine. I can't imagine them getting any better care than they get at Barks and Wags.

This was well worth the money. They took the time to groom her completely and she came out looking like a whole new pup! I could tell they were caring and wanted to make sure the job was done right. She was brushed, shampooed, had a de-shedding treatment, nails clipped, ears cleaned, trimmed - the works! It was definitely better than bringing her to a big box pet store.

It's clear that Amanda loves dogs. She made us feel like our dog was the best dog ever......clearly Riley is the best dog ever. :o) She taught me how to handle my dog. I thought we were going to train the dog, but it's really more about training the owner to handle the dog and I learned a lot. She was respectful to us and to Riley. She made sure that we were comfortable with everything. She wanted to make sure that we covered what we came in for. She did a lot of research on the therapy dog training and went the extra mile to get what we needed to do a mock test situation.

I originally planned on taking a group class, but I am so glad we paid the extra to go with individual classes. It went faster than group classes. It is also so much more individualized. Each person and dog are different. If you do it individually it is geared towards you and your dog, not six other people and six other dogs.

After we had completed three training sessions we found out that we needed to board our dog. We've never boarded our pampered princess hunting dog before. I felt that Riley would be comfortable and well taken care of there and I was right. Riley still gets excited to go to Barks and Wags, so I know it was a good experience for her.

Amanda's staff that we encountered while there were all helpful and respectful. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The interactions with other animals and clients were all respectful and pleasant.

I would highly recommend her for training and for boarding.

We've been taking our two beagles to Barks and Wags every Wednesday for more than a year, and we've been very happy with their service and treatment of our dogs. They have day time activities and lots of social interaction so the dogs come home happy and exhausted. They also have done grooming and boarding for us in the past with equally good results.
Their facility is very clean and the staff is very friendly and professional. It's clear that Amanda and her team genuinely love dogs and it shows in everything they do. It's the only place that I'd trust to care for our dogs.
