Very professional and was sure to put drop clothes down if he thought there would be a mess and wore shoe covers so as to not get the floors dirty. Very informative with all knowledge and quick response with the final paperwork.

He found flaws that I had not. I was able to negotiate repairs with the help of Mike's detailed, professional looking report. For the most recent inspection I added a radon test, and he found high levels. His report helped me to convince the seller to do radon mitigation, as well as some electrical repairs.

Great! Mike was punctual, knowledgeable and thoughtful in his inspection. He let me tag along, explaining things along the way, and patient with my novice-level questions. After the inspection, he sat down with me to go over the findings, and provided a thorough report for later reference.
I would absolutely recommend him to others.

He was very professional and explained all things. But, being a new house owner, I didn't insist on he inspecting the attic. He did not inspect and I found a water leak from the roof in the attic. I could have saved my ceiling if he had spotted that during inspection.
Response from The BrickKicker Inspection Services - Davenport
"I wonder if [member name removed] could contact me regarding the leak. I have checked my data base for the inspection report under name and address alll the way back to january and could not retrieve anything. Possibly they have the wrong inspection service?"

On the recommendation of our realtor, my husband and I had Mike at BrickKicker do a pre-buy house inspection. We found him to be very thorough, knowledgeable and professional. He took a lot of time to answer our questions as he went through the house. The report we got back was detailed, concise and easy to understand. Because of what we learned about the property from Mike, we have a better idea of what we might be taking on and are able to make a more informed decision. We are 100% satisfied and would absolutely utilize Mr. Ewoldt's services again.

It was great. This was our first home and the inspector spent a lot of time with my wife and me explaining all sorts of home owner tips. This was an older home (1900) and he was very honest and realistic about what he was seeing and the kinds of issues we could encounter. He was very helpful in keeping our expectations of a 100+ year old home realistic. Very informative when it came to the kind a of renovations we could do and in kind of rating the issues we were seeing( oh this is a big deal or it?s a couple hundred bucks to redo that). No issues have come up that weren?t pointed out during the inspection. We were able to use his report to negotiate several repairs before closing.

He was prompt, did a thorough job, explained everything he was doing, provided a list of things that needed to be fixed complete with pictures of the problems. He was very professional and personable.

UPDATE:
We have had 2 separate instances with our house that have raised problems with our inspection. Ned did check that our range vent was functional. This consisted of turning the switch on and off to make sure the fan worked. He did not however check to see if it was installed properly (would the fan suck the smoke down into the vent). We called someone to come out and take a look at it because it never functioned properly and would occasionally set off the smoke alarm while cooking. The HVAC specialist informed us that the vent was not working properly, therefore the fan was only blowing the steam/smoke back into the the kitchen. He indicated that this is a potential fire hazard and that our inspector should have tested for this.
Problem #2 was our water heater. We were not getting hot water one evening so I contacted our home warranty company. They tried to walk me through how to locate what the problem may be but the pieces they were referring me to look at simply were not there. After they sent their local plumbers to inspect the water heater they told me that the vent draft hood WAS NEVER INSTALLED. Without this the vent stack cant cool down creating a potential fire hazard and Carbon Monoxide issues. He indicated that this also was something my inspector should have noted.
So within one month I have had 2 separate issues with 2 separate appliances in my house and both instances resulted in 2 separate repair men telling me that these issues were potential fire hazards and that my inspector should have noted them.
I called Ned about this and he informed me he was out of town at the moment and would be following up with me when he returned. It has been months now and I still have not heard from him.
I thought at the time that everything was looked at and inspected properly at the time, but guess I was wrong. Sorry Ned, but the facts are the facts and now I am questioning my entire inspection and cannot endorse this service. Very disappointed.

Ned spent over 3 hours inspecting the house and took many pictures, which were included in the final report. He allowed us to tag along with him the entire time, my husband even joined him on the roof! He explained everything he was seeing in terms that were easy for us to understand and comprehend so that we knew what types of repairs were going to be needed. He was professional, courteous and an all around nice person. He never rushed us and took more than an adequate amount of time to inspect the house, opening every door, cupboard, window, etc. The binder he provided with the maintenance checklists for homeowners and space for notes and receipts is great and I plan to put it to use. I would highly recommend BrickKicker to anyone looking for a thorough professional to inspect their prospective home.

The home I was looking at purchasing had an inspection done a month prior to mine from another company. I was hesitant to go with a company called "Brick Kicker", but was desperate to get another opinion. The first inspection came back with a few minor fixes that they had then fixed. I was hoping my home inspection would come back completely clean since that's what the first one indicated. Ned from Brick Kicker found a few more things wrong, a couple safety issues that were important to me. I followed him around the whole time and he was excited to show me what he was doing and things I could fix. He was great about answering all of my questions. I would recommend him to anyone.
