Scott did a fantastic job with our tree removal and removed the tree very quickly. That said he still has not completed his contract by fulling the hole as agreed upon it the contract - it is late October - making excuses as to why is has not been completed. I would not recommend the use of this company.

It went very well.  When Scott came out to do the estimate, he was very friendly and knowledgeable.  He wants to do things right, even if it's inconvenient (like pruning oaks when it is horrendously cold, in order to protect against oak wilt).  His knowledge of arboriculture is good, and although he is certified to use chemicals, he generally stays away from them in order to do things as organically and naturally as possible.  He answered our many questions thoroughly.
When he came out to do the work, he came when promised, removed all debris afterward, and did an excellent job pruning a large tree in order both to promote its health, and also to protect the nearby house.
The only constructive criticism has to do with his responsiveness to contacts.  Sometimes phone calls were not returned for a week or two at a time.  At one point I had not heard from him or his wife in a while, and so I began reluctantly researching other tree services.  But he did eventually get back to me.  This is a small family business, and due to being out of town and some personal situations, things got stacked up, he said.
Viewed in another light, the difficulty in getting call-backs is also related to the quality of work that Scott does.  He does excellent work, and so there's a large demand for his services.  Yes, the responsiveness could be improved.  But if you can get him to do the service, you will likely be satisfied with the results.
So if you want a job done well, and you are prepared to be patient, then I recommend Economy Tree Service (now renamed as Urban Tree Care).

It went well.  Scott had to come back 3 days in a row because he kept getting rained out.  But he wouldn't move on to his next job until mine was complete.  I asked him to only take what was absolutely necessary for people's safety and health of the timber and he did just that.  A few large trees with heavy damage had to be dropped.  He cut all the pieces down to manageable pieces I could move on my own and finish cutting up for firewood at a later time and he chipped the rest of the brush and left if for me to use as mulch on our path.  Scott and his assistants hit it hard and kept working trying to beat the rain and get the job done.  I appreciated his expertise in knowing which undesirable trees to take out to thin the timber to a healthy density so the preferable trees could do better and flourish.  After you've worked with a professional arborist like Scott you will never go back to a hack.  While it may cost a little more in labor now it is well worth having someone who knows what's what they are doing, do the right thing, rather than someone who is just guessing and telling you what you want to hear.

They came and cut that one big branch off. Cleaned up all the little limbs and left the yard looking better than it was when they first arrived. Again I'm very happy with the job they performed.

It went well.  I trust Scott to take care of our trees, he is obsessive (in a good way) about tree care.  He compels me to take better care of our trees.  From using the proper mulch to pruning techniques Scott teaches me what I  need to know to improve our tree health until his next visit.

Left a message to get an estimate for removing 3 trees and they called back the next morning to setup an appointment.  Scott came out the next day to do the estimate at the scheduled time.  I could tell he has a passion for this business.  He thoroughly explained the process and completed the estimate.  After comparing with other bids and doing some more research, we decided to go with Economy Tree Service.  They were competitively priced and I had watched them carefully and successfully remove an extremely large tree that was close to power lines etc. from a nearby house a few years earlier.  I called to proceed with the job and Scott called back the next day to confirm.  When Scott came by to get the signed contract and deposit, we agreed that they would start on 10/30/13.  They showed up about 7:45 am, setup and staged their equipment, and were working by 8:15.  Noticed that they were all wearing protective equipment, which was good to see.  The crew worked together very well and very efficiently even though the weather conditions were less than desirable (rained every day while they were here).  Each day before they left, the site was clean and Scott let me know when they were leaving and what they expected to get done the next day.  I felt the job was completed in a very timely manner despite the rainy weather conditions.  On the final day Scott let me know when they were done and we walked the yard together, which was thoroughly cleaned as expected (cleaner than when they started since the trees were already losing their leaves before they started).  I was totally satisfied with the professional manner of the work that was completed by Scott and his crew, and the whole process from start to finish in general.  All calls I made were returned within a day.  I would highly recommend them to others and would definitely not hesitate to use them in the future.

They started on time and cleaned up pretty well. Unfortunately we still have no grass growing were the trees were despite putting down grass seed several times. Nothing will grow there but weeds. I had liked them on Facebook but got really tired of reading about ex-cons going around soliciting their services and it not being up to par. I understand that the owner has spent most of his life doing this and is extremely knowledgeable about his job but there is something to be said about promoting yourself rather than bashing others. I would recommend them to others if they needed a tree removed only because they are professionals. I also didn't like that they put pictures of my home on their Facebook page without asking permission first. I understand they want to show off their work but simply being asked if that was ok with us was all it would take.
Response from Economy Tree Service
"Wow, sorry about the facebook pics, they have been on there a year and you actually made comments on them, I wish you would have let me know it was not ok when I was taking pictures, while you where out there watching. I do post articles and pass info on the hackers, ex-cons and druggies, because the QC has many bad people in the tree business.I think it is only fair that people know when they have someone who has a bad history of violent crimes in and around their property. I try to educate the QC in what is out there as I am only looking out for you and others. Not to mention defending my professional industry from those who don't care about doing it right. As far the seed goes. I have no control over that. Fine, graded top soil was installed into your yard. It was your responsibility to seed and water it. That is direct reflection on you, not me. I do remember the kind words that you posted on our face book page after we where completed and had posted pics of your house, actually posted on the pic with all the wood we cut and stacked for you. Brit-"So excited with the work that has been done on our trees. Sorry again for the overly nosy neighbors" "Everything turned out pretty amazing!" and the one when you posted on my wall to get rid of the wood after the people who said they would come get it, but didn't take it all, Brit-"We still have some of the oak and maple left over so get it while it lasts!!!" I told you to post a add on craigslist. to get rid of the wood, you used my name and you then had great success. I know this as you then posted again on my facebook, (removed member name)- "All that we were giving away is gone. It went FAST! Within an hour of posting 90% was gone." Not sure what spawned a review like this after almost 3 years. You must be upset that you cant get grass to grow and I am sorry for that. But I had nothing to do with that. You post that you would not hire me again, of course you wouldn't, you have no more trees! Remember! I reluctantly cut them down. I gave you a price on pruning them instead, but you did not want to rake up the leafs anymore. So you wanted them removed. That is what upset all your neighbors. I will remove all pics of your house."

Scott showed up promptly at 8am. Started by 'sizing' up the tree and went to work. I personally wasn't to sure about the power lines running next to the tree but he had no problem. Tree came down with ease. Yard looked great when he was done. Thanks Scott and crew!!!

The entire crew of Economy Tree was very professional and knowledgeable. It was very evident that Scott, the owner, knew a lot about trees and the proper way to care for them. Scott came to our house at the beginning of June along with a few other tree removal companies to give us an estimate on the removal of the tree. His quote was very competitive with the other companies. We decided to use Economy Tree based on Scott's professionalism and obvious knowledge about trees. We signed a contract and gave our deposit at the beginning of July. Unfortunately, due to a LOT of hot weather (with multiple days close to triple digits) and emergency tree removals, the crew was not able to get to us until late in July. Even though they had to push the work back, Scott was always very good about keeping us informed about what was going on and was very polite and apologetic about having to change plans. Once the crew arrived at our house, they worked very carefully and again were VERY professional. Due to the amount of damage to the tree and the safety issues involved with climbing the tree, the crew took about 3 half-days to complete the work. Once the work was done, we were so happy with the result! They did a wonderful job of cleaning up any debris and saw dust (they even climbed ladders to clean sawdust off our roof and our neighbor's roof!). Aside from the tree and the two stumps being gone, you couldn't tell that the crew had been there at all. They left our yard as clean (if not cleaner!) than it was when they arrived. We can finally rest easy knowing that we no longer have to worry about this problematic tree falling on our house during a storm. And if that wasn't enough, Scott was willing to answer questions that I had about the other trees in our yard. I would recommend Economy Tree Service to anyone looking for good, quality workmanship at a competitive price. Thank you Scott!

They did an excellent job. They ran into some weather issues, but still got the project done. My only glitch with them happened the following spring when we had a branch break off a tree and called them... they did not respond and I had to deal with it myself. I would use them again as the pricing was very fair for the quality of service.

Economy Tree gave us a very competitive bid and was prepared for the difficult terrain with all the proper safety equipment.  They removed a wide variety of trees in all shapes and sizes.  Initially we had intended to sell our home and thought a river view would enhance the capacity to sell the house.  After Scott finished we realized we loved the view so much that we didn't want to move!  We then hired them to prune and trim our front trees.  As before they did a professional, responsible and fantastic job with our front yard 10 or more trees.  They will return tomorrow to remove a dead oak in our woods.  I will hire them again!

I called them to trim up a pine tree and an overgrown rhododendren and he came for an estimate.  He was courteous and seemed knowledgeable about the task.  When he came he and his people worked continuously until the job was done and then cleaned up after themselves.  I thought the cost was reasonable and would have them back again.  I suggested them to my yard man and he was impressed with the job they had done also.

They did a fabualous job. I highly recommend Economy Tree Service. We had our front yard tree taken out first and it went very smoothly. They have great teamwork. I think it took them 3 days from start to finish with the front tree and the cleanup was wonderful you could hardly tell the were there. wonderful wonderful!!! Then with our backyard tree that one is more challenging so we had a few weeks inbetween that we were waiting on the weather to corporate and once it did boom they were on it. It took a week for the back tree but it was a monster and very diffcult to remove. They are very good at the diffcult part of it they roped everything off and once again the teamwork was amazing. They were there every morning by 8am and finish for the day around 4pm. The cleanup for the backyard tree was very good also. We had some wood we wanted from the tree and they stacked it up good for us. They really did go over and beyond what we expected. A+++!!! Great Job Scott!!

Scott came to meet with us and give us our estimate.  He told us about the process and how it was going to work.  The first morning they arrived right when they said they would be there.  Worked all day got all the branches down from the tree (working between all the power lines).  Next working day, they took down the rest of tree.  About a week later, they came back and removed the stump and filled it. I really appreciated how polite Scott and his crew were from start to finish.  They did a wonderful job.  The price was right and the only ones that bid on it that were able to do this without taking out my power and my neighbors' power while doing this big project.

All when well depending on weather & snowing conditions - had to be done during winter to protect oak tree from insects that could kill the oak? they did a very good job. 2. at a later date- Wanted to add another photo of stump grinding but could not find "button' to select to put another photo in my report- this service was done later (3-5-11) and this was included in the original price... also will clean up after stump is removed- they will put dirt in to fill hole.
