About us

just add water is a landscape company specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of water features; including water garden ecosystem ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountains, and rain water collection systems. We also have a small retail store at Kidman Tree Farm in Polk City Iowa where we sell supplies and water plants. We consult with diy'ers as well, so we can help you if you are just looking for advice. We do may water feature remodels and rebuilds. We are a small company and you will work with the owner(Chris Thompson) of the company on every aspect of your project. Our projects range from small backyard projects to very large commercial and residential water features. We believe that every project is a custom work of art!

Our relationship with Chris began years ago when he installed our first 2 streams, pond, and pondless waterfall system.  We have been so pleased with his service and products that he was continually invited back to enlarge and enhance that first feature.  We also use his maintenance services to keep the system in tip-top shape.  He stands by his work for years and will not hesitate to replace parts if needed.  His clients are always part of the Central IA Water Garden Tour every year because they are environmentally sound ways to beautify your home's landscape.  We are even considering consulting with him on our next home's water feature in another state because his work is so exceptional!

He is maintaining my pond that he had installed for me. He landscaped, designed and installed it. For a year or two, he also supplied me with the beneficial bacteria and the fish to keep it going. As it got too much for me, he offered to do the maintenance and charges me for his service. Since it is his job, he does it well. He comes out every two weeks to clean up all the algae and takes care of my pond; every spring he cleans out, drains it and refills the pond, and every fall he preps it and gets it ready for winter.

The wall was coming apart and falling down, it didn’t last 3 years.  We attempted to call him back several times to stand by his work and he would not return our calls.  His work didn’t last and would not come out to repair his work.
