Painting by Gene

Gene did a nice job and was super friendly. He did most of the work himself with help from his employee Gary. I will ask Gene to do some additional painting in the future. I thought his prices were reasonable. He does not have a cell phone (Gene is an older gentleman) so make sure you leave a message and he will get back to you. He was very helpful picking out paint and allowed us to buy it from anywhere we wanted. He used his discount as a contractor to buy the paint and kept all the receipts for us. He didn't charge any extra for paint, just what it cost. He did all the work and made sure it was finished to our satisfaction before he made us pay anything. I will be recommending him to anyone who is in need of painting.

Everything was excellent. Gene knows his stuff and is very friendly. Gene also works around the customer's schedule. He is a hands-on painter and does not sub-contract the job to strangers. I will ask Gene to do some additional painting when I get ready. Oh, by the way, Gene's prices are very reasonable. If there is something to paint, get a bid from Gene.

It took him a couple of days to get back to me but after that, he did a great job of providing me with an estimate over the phone. He completed the work with little guidance and ahead of schedule.

I called on a Thursday morning, and Gene returned my call within half an hour, came and looked at the job the next day, looked at it with me to go over a few things (on a Saturday) and got me an estimate by Sunday. He was able to start work a little over a week later and it took about 3 weeks total. He and Gary were quiet, kind, and easy to have around.

He was local, fair and different. I got a recommendation from Angie's list. They were good.

It was good quality work at a slower pace.

It was great. We contacted several painters for bids. Gene was the only one who called back the first time (there was still snow on the ground, but we wanted a ballpark to figure out if we could afford the work). He was responsive every step of the way. The initial bid didn't include painting the gutters or replacing the rotten wood. When we asked, he gave us updates within 24 hours for how this would change the bid. After we received the bids, he was easily 2/3 the price of the other bids. We were a little worried about the quality given the low bid, but it was great. Since we painted the house the same color, we thought we might only need one coat. We decided (along with Gene) to put on one coat and see what we thought. After the first coat he gave us a couple of options for the second coat (the whole house or the parts that got the most sun) with different prices for each. Obviously, they could have done a poor job on the first coat and then charged us an arm and a leg on the second since they had started the project, but they didn't. The second coat was less than we expected. They cleaned off the mildew and scrapped all of the loose paint. He and his other painter were usually there by 7:30 in the morning and worked all day. They obviously had to stop when it rained, but they were quick and the work is excellent. If we didn't know where they replaced the wood in the siding, you couldn't tell that it was done. We are so pleased with the work they did.
