I've used Ames Lock & Security twice.  They're great.  Before both jobs they discussed my options with me and had all the prices for the different options upfront, and were able to come out the next day.  When they were at the house they were courteous and paid attention to all the details, and the work was exactly what we'd discussed.  I appreciated their straightforward approach on both visits.

We bought a house, so had all locks changed. Found out the front door deadbolt only unlocked from the outside (whose brainchild was that?!). Because it's an old house, they had to be creative in finding something that worked, and that also looked like it belonged there. It was so nice that they paid attention to aesthetics as well as function! They did an excellent job.

I would have expected better from a locksmith. The technician they sent out could not pick some of my locks (that I did not have keys for) so they could not be rekeyed. You would expect a locksmith to be able to pick a lock. Also for one of my door knobs he broke the cylander while trying to rekey it and told me my only option was to buy a new one or not have a working lock. Even though he broke my previously working lock he wouldn't replace it.
