Went well and as promised and expected. Sun Power's online 24/7 monitoring system and equipment warranty is good.

There seem to be plethora of solar installation companies to choose from on Oahu. We look at multiple companies and after a couple of months of research on the individual companies as well as the solar panels the represent, we decided to go with Eco Solar (www.ecosolarhawaii.com). The basic considerations looked like this:
1. Local company with MIT grads at the helm;
2. I couldn't find anything negative about that company and we all know that people like to post "bad things" if applicable;
3. Sun Power products - we chose the 345w panels;
4. Solar Edge inverter;
5. 25 year warranty on the entire system;
6. Their sales person was Rafal Mistrzak was awesome on details and explanations;
We started the process in July of 2013 and the system was installed in late February of 2014. Throughout the process, the entire Eco Solar staff that we have worked with or met have been absolutely excellent! The communications between Eco Solar and us have been outstanding and crystal clear. They have never missed a mark or a beat, always on time, and left no messes when they finished the installation. There was one very small hiccup with a panel that didn't come on-line correctly on day 1 of the installation. By day 2, the issue was resolved and again...the communications regarding "what was going one" was superb.
Our system is not gigantic or extremely expensive. However, the attention to details and strong communications would lead you to believe that we have massive system installed. They are the real deal and definitely worth consideration. We want to be completely unbiased and tell you about the good and the bad. IN all seriousness, I really can't think of any step or piece of the project where there was a situation to be concerned about or a negative statement to be made.

While the sales pitch was impressive and the salesperson was polite and professional, building permits and Hawaiian Electric applications were not filed timely. The promise of excellent service and allowing the roofer to place the penetrations through our new roof were unfulfilled. I found out later, when I compared the dates on permits with email and my notes, the salesperson lied to me on three occasions simply to placate or appease me. While the system functions, having to call and email Ecosolar so many times was stressful and very unpleasant.

Sadly, from the time I committed to use their services until the system was installed, I endured a more than three month nightmare. To keep this brief, I have omitted other minor issues. I should have chosen another photovoltaic company at the first sign of trouble. Foolish me, I chose to stay with the company simply because the salesperson seemed sincere. It was a decision I regret.
