Richard Long, the owner, came at the appointed time and did a first-rate job. I would not hesitate calling them again if something else goes wrong and I would definitely recommend Reliable Landscaping and Sprinklers.

Mr. John Long, owner of Reliable Landscaping and Sprinklers, really impressed me with his professionalism and honesty.  He could have told us that we needed to totally re-design the Japanese garden, if he wanted to make big profit.  Instead, he told me that I should keep the design intact because it was a good design, which looked good and allowed for efficient water flow.  He recommended that we remove the small gravel and reuse it to save money.  He removed all of the small gravel and placed thick weed barrier and replaced the small gravel and added larger gravel to keep the gravel in place.  He recommended that we remove the mondo grass, which was being overrun by our lawn grass.  In its place, he added the large gravel and placed smooth river rock to form an appearance of river running through the Japanese garden.  He got rid of 2 plants which had thorny branches and replaced with more appropriated Japanese. plants.  He also cut down and reshaped our large bush, which was getting out of control.  The improvements made to the front garden is fantastic.  It looks great and  it will certainly cut down on weekly maintenance.  Mr. Long aslo recommended that we remove the ground cover on back yard slope which has been a problem due to weed growing out of control.  He replaced it with grass plugs to make it a grassy slope, which would eliminate the need to pull weeds every week.  He also check and fixed all sprinkler heads that had been damaged.  He was going to only fix the head but ended up digging to find the sprinklers and leaking pipe.  He was able to fix them without increasing the cost of his proposal.  We were really impressed that he returned the lawn to the original condition despite all of the digging.  His workers were polite and worked hard to complete the project in 3 days.  Mr. Long came back to fix sprinkler piping which was not part of the proposal without asking for increase in the proposed amount.  I highly recommend him to anyone that wants a "reliable" and honest landscaper.

Reliable completeled the work on schedule, efficiently and exactly as documented in the statement of work.  We were completely satisfied.  We've used thiscompany for many years because we know we can rely on the quality of their work and will receive professional service.

Richard visited our home and scoped the project in advance.  He discussed the best way to address our sprinkler issues.  The team arrived on-time and completed the work in a timely manner.  No big issues with the quality of work.  Later, I did identify a couple of minor items that needed correction.  Richard came back out and fixed those issues in a timely manner.  The project cost was below the original estimate.

 

The entire service went great, from the initial assessment, the estimate and refining of the scope of work, the scheduling, the actual days onsite completing the work, the interactions with the office staff who were always very responsive, polite, and professional, and also the billing and documentation.
I worked with Rey, who was the hands-on project manager / project lead overseeing the entire engagement. He performed the initial estimate, and saw it through to completion. He was onsite the days that his team was working. And he did a final walk-through with me after the work was completed to explain everything that was done, as well as talk through ongoing maintenance and next steps.
I was very happy with the entire team from Reliable Landscaping - including both those who were onsite doing the work as well as those who were in the back-office handling all of the administrative duties. A very well-run, well-operated, and well-oiled machine. Reliable Landscaping is the best I've ever worked with. And Rey, in particular who I worked closest with, gets my highest recommendation.
Not only WOULD I utilize Reliable Landscaping again, I've already signed up for ongoing maintenance with them. And I look forward to working with Rey again at a future time to do a larger, more comprehensive landscaping engagement for our under-utilized backyard, once budget and timing allows for it. Reliable Landscaping will be the first company I engage when that time comes.

Richard came out to the house, very punctual, to give an estimate for installing a conduit. Our current conduit was blocked and we needed a new one to get services from Hawaiian Tel. He explained what he planned to do, and two days later, I received the estimate. The cost was in the range of what I felt I wanted to pay. Richard arrived 1 hour early to do the work, which was great because I was leaving soon. He completed the work, by himself in less than an hour. He removed the grass neatly, dug a trench, placed the PVC conduit and then filled in the trench, replacing the grass. He left the area in perfect condition. In addition, he put duct tape over the open end of the conduit (which was underground) so that no water or dirt would get in. Excellent service and a nice person to work with. I would have him back anytime with any landscaping needs that I may have.

I had used Reliable Landscaping in the past and was happy with their work, so when I decided to make some changes I called them for an estimate. Alan Gracey came out and talked to me about what I wanted done, took measurements, etc. He quickly understood what I wanted; clearing weeds out of a planting island, laying weedblock and black cinders. Then install artificial turf as a meandering walkway.
It took a few days to get his estimate, and in the meantime I called a couple of other companies to get estimates. One never showed up. The other one was good (I ended up having them do an even bigger job) and his estimate was lower than Reliable, but he didn't take measurements and hadn't done much of this particular type of work, so I wasn't comfortable with that. Did a great job on the larger cleanup and maintenance job, though.
So I ended up going with Reliable. I asked some follow-up questions about how they prepared the ground, what kind of turf they use, etc, and got satisfactory answers. Richard, the owner, showed up with the crew when promised and by the end of the days the job was done and everything cleaned up.
Very happy with the job they did. I would recommend Reliable Landscaping for promptness and quality of work, and cleanup. You
can probably get a slightly lower estimate from some other companies, but the ease of working with Alan and Richard, their quality of work and professionalism is worth a few dollars more.

Earthworks and terrace walling good. Plants were not up to value but they have come around for a walk thru and have arranged to replace some of them

The crew arrived on time, they were hard workers, and they completed the work satisfactorily. Alan Gracey was the project manager and competently oversaw the work, as well as installing the sod himself. There was a leak of some sort in the irrigation that showed up a few days later and Alan came out and personally corrected the problem (it was not a significant problem).

Richard did an awesome job and it was less expensive and quicker than I expected. He not only fixed the problems I identified, but he checked out and tuned up the entire system and gave me good advice and getting a brown patch of grass to come back to life.

We used them for quite some time. We 2 other providers before them that were horrible, both went out of business. We had sprinkler trouble which they fixed quickly. Their maintenance was hit an miss though. We paid for twice monthly service but that was not always the case. Sometimes it would be 3 weeks or more because someone called in sick. The guys would break our landscape lights, not tell us or replace them. We will not be using them again.

Richard was very easy to work with and very responsive when I needed to talk to him. I didn't have a detailed plan when I called him for an estimate; he helped me think about options and design. His wasn't the lowest estimate but I felt good about his company and him so I we went with him. He executed the agreed upon plan quickly and cleanly. He suggested some good plants to use, and had lots of pictures of past projects, provided references. The job was done on time and within budget. The only reason I didn't give him an A across the board on all parts of the rating: one of the parts of the job was to relocate existing sprinkler heads so that they would be in the right places and with the right spray types for the new landscape plan instead of where they were for the lawn. After a couple of years I can see that some of the areas do not get the right coverage from the sprinklers. Maybe designing a sprinkler system is not his strong point. But most of it does work fine and I very happy with the work he did. I highly recommend the company.
