Innovative Housing Solutions

The whole experience with this Business was a nightmare. This business should be avoided. The same owner has operated the business under different names, Innovative Building Solutions and the lastest is Panelized Steel Systems. Innovative Housing Solutions is currently in litigation. Don't be fooled as you will get the same poor service from all of these businesses since they are the same Owner, Sonya Meyers. Her husband, John Meyers runs the business. We experienced numerous problems with the business throughout construction. A large initial payment was made up front to procure materials but the materials were not procured and additional money was demanded before construction of the wall panels would be started. The delivery of the wall panels was late and the wall panels were not constructed properly when there were delivered. Many of the steel panels had to be totally removed and replaced. The business never adhered to the payment schedule and demanded more money before work was completed. The job was never fully completed as the contractor abandoned the job without finishing the contracted work scope. This left us, the owners, with an incomplete house that could not be occupied and a loan that still had to be paid.

The company name is actually Innovative Building Solutions as it was probable changed when the original partners who owned the company changed. The job has been a nightmare. We agreed upon a total price, the amount of the initial deposit and payment schedule. However, materials were not purchased with the money from the initial deposit as required and the contractor demanded additional funds to be advanced before he would proceed with the work. The metal frame wall panels could not be fully constructed in the warehouse and delivered to the worksite as planned since the contractor erecting the panels did not have equipment which could lift the panels to some areas of the property. Consequently, the panel wall sheathing, siding and windows had be be assembled to the metal frames to all locations on site. The metal frames were constructed months after the contract was signed and when they arrived there were significant problems. The Bathroom panel walls were only 2x4 studs in lieu of 2x6 stubs as required and had to be returned. A number of panels had incorrect stud spacing and no window openings as required by the plans, and had to be returned and replaced. The contractor was very difficult to work with and unprofessional. To date he has still not provided all of the metal frame panels required by the plans and has requested payment even though the work is incomplete. In the latest contact with the owner, he indicated that he had gone out of business and sold the company to a new owner. It is uncertain if we will ever receive the remaining panels that are required. Fortunately, we have not made the final payment.

They do panelized fabrication for wall panels. They also purchase steel girders and other materials for contractors to install. I will use them again in the future.
