Their communication was good.

The time from first contact to initial work seemed a bit long, but we were prepared to wait. Chris, the handyman that ultimately came to perform the work, was very professional, and worked hard to keep prices reasonable, while dealing with several problems with difficult solutions (refinishing a door that our dog had scratched up significantly).

We described this assignment as a handyman job. We would furnish the materials and SBM would furnish the workers. They send a carpenter, painter and tile layer. The end result was as we contemplated.

I contacted SBM and asked them to contact my tenant and do this work when they could (it was not a rush). They took care of everything in a professional manner. Everything was handled with a couple of phone calls and an emailed invoice from them. Received Angie's List discount.

I liked his responsiveness, fair price and communication. He is the maintenance guy and the contractor and he works well with all the tenants in my building. His pricing is good and the quality is great. He is always punctual and responsive. I have retained him as my permanent guy.

The gentlemen got caught in traffic, so he was a little late. However, the gentlemen was very friendly and did the job quickly. He did everything that I asked for.

John was on time, knew what he was doing and completed the work in a timely manner. He cleaned up his work area prior to leaving. His price was fair and he was very personable. I will be using him for all our household needs.

Had John take a look at some squirrel damage that had been previously patched by a neighbor. John removed the patch and replaced the screen that allows the attic to breathe ... in the middle of a downpour. Prompt communication and solid work ... I will use them again for additonal jobs that are on my list. I highly recommend SBM.

Micah did an outstanding job on the drywell. He's obviously an expert. He was fast, exacting, and thorough and cleaned up nicely. Likewise on the tile. I wouldn't hesitate to hire his services again.

I called them on a Friday evening and discussed my need. They said they would send someone over the next morning, a Saturday. The person came right on time, after calling in advance to confirm the time. He did an excellent job. We can't even tell there was a hole in the ceiling. He was able to do it in just one visit, even though someone else had said it would require multiple visits. He was very pleasant, cleaned up thoroughly, and made sure we were satisfied before he left. We definitely would use them again.

John and Micah repaired drywall, painted and shored up some footings on my home. John gave us an accurate estimate and when I threw him a little extra work he was able to accommodate us in the same day. The drywall was perfectly finished. The paint was perfectly matched. They protected my home and cleaned up after the job. They were pleasant folks to have around the house. Definitely a winning team!

Micah did a great job. Because I needed help on short notice, he came to the house in the evenings to get the work done on time. If he was not 100% sure about something, he called John to verify that what he intended to do was correct. I am extremely happy with all the work he did. I am grateful that he was willing to work within my schedule. Micah as polite and professional. He cleaned up after completing his work nd disposed of any trash generated by the job.

I was very satisfied with them. They came on time and I don't remember how much they charged me but they were right on with their quote. They did more than what was asked of them. They were just really nice people and I would trust them totally with another job. I've planned to use them again. The work was very thorough and they were very clean, careful and respectful of my house. They were using a lot of tarp and things like that to make sure that they didn't track anything in and out. Even my dog liked them. I don't remember what the price was but for all the work that they did, I thought that it was very reasonable. It was a father and son team and they were nice people. They worked hard and it was a pleasure to work with them.

It was a very good experience. He talked to me throughout the process letting me know what was going on. I would recommend him to others.

We'd been thinking of renovating our guest bathroom for some time and finally decided to look into it seriously. We got estimates from three contractors for the job, and Small World Industries came in at half the price of the most expensive estimate and substantially cheaper than the middle estimate. Their reputation on Angie's List was excellent and we liked them after meeting them, so we chose to contract them for the job. We are very, very happy with the work they did. They did a very professional job and were attentive to detail and making sure that we were involved and happy about the progress of the job the whole way through. They were very respectful of keeping the rest of the house clean, keeping to agreed-upon hours when they could do the work, and responsive when contacted by phone or email. When calling them, they either answered the phone or got back to us promptly; there was no problem with keeping in touch with them. Another point in their favor: They came up with the idea of smoothing the walls and ceiling with drywall mud to remove the existing texture. We didn't like the existing texture, but this had never occured to us, or to the other contractors, either. We're happy with the way it turned out. They are a small family firm and we preferred dealing with them rather than with a larger outfit. The only drawback to this that I can see is that, not surprisingly, they were juggling several jobs at once and sometimes things would come up and they couldn't be working on our job for a day or two. In our case, we had plenty of flexibility on finishing the job and so we didn't mind that the job took longer than we initially expected. And, to be fair, it wasn't always their fault when there were delays as we sometimes were delayed by parts coming in late. Despite the delays, we still consider their punctuality to be good, and better than we might have expected for a job with this many separate parts and vendors involved. The job ended up costing about $800 more than we initially expected. This was due to the required plumbing work being more complicated than expected. To their credit, they explained up front that the plumbing cost might go up depending on "what things look like behind the wall," so we were prepared for the extra cost and are comfortable that it was justified. All in all, we were very happy with our choice to use Small World Industries. In fact, before the bathroom renovation was even finished we hired them to do more texture-smoothing in another room, along with some minor electrical work there. We are happy with how that job turned out as well. We would absolutely not hesitate to hire them again, and that is not something we often feel we can say.

John was very responsive, he answered the phone when I first called him to see if he was interested in the work (I am used to having to leave a message and wonder if whoever I called will ever call back). We had to exchange several emails and phone calls before he came to do the work and always got right back to me. I really like that he is comfortable with email which works great for me. I was unsure about whether or not I could afford the hot water heater and install, and he was very patient with me and able to fit that in even though I decided on it at the last minute. I was very pleased that he could pick the door and heater up for a very reasonable charge ($25 which is included in total above). He was prompt, professional and insisted on taking his shoes off. He was very considerate and asked me if I had a preference as to which job he started on first. I felt very comfortable leaving to run an errand in the middle of the work. He cleaned up after himself and I am very happy with the work done. He stuck by his quoted price even though the job took a lot longer than we anticipated (what can I say, my house is cursed). I am really happy to finally find someone that I can count on to do things around the house.

They seem very professional and seem to have a lot of experience. He is really busy. In this economy that said a lot to me. He has done a really good job. The floor is really touchy. There is a heating pad under the tile and some how it got broken. They have been back several times to try and fix it. They have it almost all fixed and will be back tomorrow to reset the tile. They were able to get the tile out without even breaking it. They did a beautiful job with the ceiling and painting the room. They did a beautiful job painting the other room. It looks a million times better. He has been very diligent.

Though it was a small job, it was well done. He did the job quickly and effectively. He also gave me a break on the price, which was great, too.

I needed the work done quickly, and John was great. He was out first thing Monday morning and everything was finished same day. I have no complaints about any of the work done and would definitely hire him again.
