In my 45 years of dealing with veterinary services, I have
never encountered a vet who was as rude and unprofessional as Dr. Head. Not
only is this vet one of the most expensive on the island, but if you are not
careful, they overcharge and recommend expensive tests and procedures that may
not be necessary.
Our family boarded our 3 cats with them, once for 8 days,
and once for 16 days. We were quoted a price of $70 per day for one large cage
and one small cage + administering meds to one senior cat. When we came to pick
up the cats, we were overcharged by $14 per day, which amounted to $336.
When I pointed out the billing discrepancy to Dr. Head, he
acted confused about his own pricing, and then became angry that I would
question the discrepancy. He pompously stated, and quot;I do not negotiate
billsand quot;. The bills are apparently whatever Head decides to charge, and questioning them with him
can result in a rude and unprofessional outburst from him.
I’m sure you can save yourself a lot of money and grief, if
you avoid this math challenged, unstable person.

As always it is a good experience in this clinic. I have two dogs and two cats that I take here for their annual exams. The help is patient and kind. Dr. Head is always there to ask your questions, takes his time to explain.

I made an appointment to bring my older (10-1/2 years) dog for an initial appointment, as we recently moved to Hawaii and I wanted to get established with a veterinarian. Dr. Head and his staff got us in within a day or two of my call, were very welcoming, did a thorough examination, administered several vaccines, and took the time to talk with me about health issues for an aging dog. I felt very comfortable with Keahou Veterinary Hospital.
