Solid Surface Technologies

We called Solid Surface in a desperate search for a competent corian crafter. Solid Surface did not do retail work. They were only manufacturers, but they did refer us to an employee of theirs, Johnny Torres, who did residential work on the side. We called Johnny and he came by to estimate the job of cutting off a wing of corian countertop and refinishing the edges to make a space for a dishwasher. Johnny brought along a colleague, Ron Clark, to assist because the cabinet under the corian needed to be custom reconfigured so the dishwasher would fit. To make a long story short, the two men were excellent!! The refinished corian looks like it was made that way originally, and the dishwasher fits inside the reconfigued cabinet so well, you would think it was originally custom designed for the dishwasher.

I found this company on the internet and asked  for an estimate for a bathtub surround.  Having gotten estimates from other companies before,  I knew that their price was fair one.  Nevertheless, I was tentative about using them without a referral.  I decided to visit their workshop to get a feel for the place and to see something they were fabricating.

Once there, I liked what I saw.  The owner impressed me as a man who knew the business inside out.  A large vase stands in his office.  It is multicolored and looks like a jig saw puzzle.  Only someone with a great deal of skill could create that.  I was sold.

I am by nature, picky, and I was still nervous about how things would turn out.  Much to my relief, the bathtub surround was exactly what I wanted.  One down.   I held my  breath and let the worker cut the corner corner of my counter off and replace it with a rounded edge. Two down.  Then I  let him dig into the Corian above my range to insert the tiles. Three down.  I let my breath out.

At first,  I could see the line where the annexation took place.  I could see fine irregularites around the tiles.  As planned, back he came another day and cleaned that all up.  Now it looks like the corner was always round and the tiles were inlaid from the start.

I am very pleased.
