I recently had my central air conditioner replaced by Pristine Air Conditioning (PAC) who did an excellent job! When the builder originally built the house 18 years ago, he “squeezed in” a central air installation after the fact. (I know, hard to believe, right?). As a result, he made several serious compromises in order to say “the house has central air” when he sold it and “moved up” at the 3-year point. (He made several other compromises to minimize his cost which we were aware of, but we didn’t discover the issues with the A/C until after the purchase). As his primary goal seemed to be “central air no matter what”, the system overall was UNDERSIZED, partially UNSERVICABLE, and had SERIOUS hidden restrictions in the return air duct. The air handler was stuffed into a small attic above the MBR closet along with all the ducts. It was so tightly packed it was completely impossible to service. Since the system was undersized (and many windows and sliding doors were missing drapes or blinds) the system simply couldn’t keep up with the heat load. We would set it at 78 degrees, it would turn on at around 8 am and run CONTINUOUSLY all day while temperatures in the house slowly increased to as high as 85-90 degrees. Usually by 9-10 pm at night, temperatures would finally be back down to the 78 degrees set on the thermostat. When I replaced the unit, my priorities were: 1) It must maintain the set temperature, and 2) It MUST be serviceable! Several companies looked at the existing installation and wouldn’t even bid on the work. However, Jason (owner) and Billy (head installer) at PAC looked it over and said, “We can do this!” I ordered a Trane XV20i 5-ton system and installation was completed in a single day on March 29, 2018. It took several hours just to disassemble the air handler and constricted air return in the attic. At Billy’s recommendation, I agreed to lose another corner of the closet to allow the air handler to be serviced. He connected the new air handler to the existing ductwork, replaced the outside unit and thermostat and BOOM! Excellent cooling! Billy and his team did a wonderful job! Long review I know, but the bottom line is this: Pristine Air Conditioning is a local company with excellent references (BBB, Yelp, Angie’s List), and they did an OUTSTANDING job on my very unusual and difficult existing installation. Give them a call and you won’t be disappointed!
