Paul is one of those guys who attacks his work. He's been in the trade for many years and has seen it all several times over. He was quick in determining the problem and equally fast in resolving it. He willing to do work for the average homeowner which is much appreciated by this homeowner. Definitely hire him, then step back and watch an electrician force of nature go at it.

I purchased the Angie's Deal for $250 with East Oahu Electric.  Paul responded quickly, did the work the next day.  He took only about 45 minutes to complete the job.

Paul was very friendly, courteous & prompt. Did excellent work, but seemed very expensive ( I figure he charged me $4000 for about 15 hrs. work) ; He is obviously very experienced & was able to identify the electrical issue & resolve it correctly. He also took the time to explain the work that needed to be done & why.

Only con was that he didn't clean up after he left (left old meter box/parts in back yard)



Would use him again, but would ask for hourly breakdown on project

After we determined the current fixture was not repairable, we took it down and replaced it with one I had bought. It was a two man job so I helped. Came out fine

I like dealing with East Oahu Electric.  Paul is very prompt & courteous.  His work is excellent and his pricing is fair.
He has a pleasant personality and is trustworthy and reliable.  I would not hesitate to use him again.

They were expensive as hell, but he was able to help me that day. It was like a last-minute request because my appliances were delivered to my house and we needed to move some outlets. He charged me something like $300 to move all the outlets which was ridiculous. But I needed to get it done that day. He takes advantage of the fact that people needs his service and he charges phenomenal. He is not fair. In regards to work, he gets it done. But it was ridiculous expensive. It wasn't the owner, it was some other dude that came over to the house. Then the owner came back later to pick up the money and wanted me to give $100 to somebody else. So I decided I would never hire him because of that. He over-communicated.

Clearly, the offer states "Whole Home."  While he did come over and check out a few outlets in a couple of rooms, in no way was it a "Whole Home Electrical System Evaluation."  He did suggest replacing all wiring w/ copper.
Yes, we know $49 is very inexpensive for a whole home evaluation but that's what the deal said and that's why we bought it.  Not just to have a couple outlets in a couple rooms tested.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and the service was okay. He actually did not perform a full inspection.

I did not know that the meter housing or "socket" as they call it was my responsibility.  They said it could result in a fire and needed to be replaced immediately.  I was frantic.  Remembering something my brother had said about Angie's List, I joined to find a good electrician to get the work done quickly.  After carefully reading all the reviews offered by Angie's List for electricians on Oahu, I decided to go with East Oahu Electric.  I was worried about a couple of negative reviews but encouraged by the many positive reviews.  I gave East Oahu Electric a call and within minutes Paul Poirson showed up.  He looked over my meter box and said we should get an electrical work permit right now because the house power needed to be cut by HECO before proceeding with any type of work.  He said that HECO is reluctant to respond quickly unless the customer has a permit showing serious intent rather than just shopping for prices.  I gave him the money for the permit and waited.  A few days later, Paul came by to give me an estimate for the work ($2400) and said we had the permit but needed to wait for HECO.  A few days later, Paul called to say that HECO had given the go ahead and set a date that HECO would show up to cut the power.  A week later, HECO showed up with a huge truck followed by Paul Poirson with an assistant.  They discussed something and the power was cut.  Paul immediately went to work and was finished in about four hours.  HECO immediately came back to turn the power on and I was delighted to have this headache of a problem fixed.  It was very rainy and stormy that week but East Oahu Electric did a good job.  I was impressed.  I don't know how others feel, but I would definitely call East Oahu Electric again!  Thanks Paul...and thanks Angie!

When he left, he left his ladder here. We had to call him to come back for his ladder. I wasn't here for most of the inspection, my brother was and I guess for the most part, it went okay. He had to go up in the attic and check. He left the opening to the attic open, didn't bother to close it. What he wanted to do was replace the wiring, replace all the conduits that was up there, which require making holes in the wall. I think that what he suggested we do was what he felt he needed to do, but after talking to a couple of different electricians, they didn't think that the conduit needed to be pulled out and they came out with different options for me. So would I use them again? No. He showed up like an hour early and I haven't gotten home yet, so he was too punctual.

I purchased one of Angie's Deals for a $49.00 Whole House Electrical Inspection. This package is normally valued at $199, saving Angie's List members 75% but is definitely not worth it. Extremely disappointed with this service and wish I had not purchased it.
Provider told us that he would not check any outlets unless we had concerns. This is contrary to the services that were supposed to be completed.
The deal was supposed to include items listed  below.

Checking for proper placement of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms - DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT SMOKE ALARMS
Testing all alarms - DIDN'T TEST ANY ALARMS
Checking all electrical panels, main breakers, and circuit breakers - completed
Testing all outlets for proper operation and safety - DIDN'T TEST A SINGLE OUTLET
Inspecting water heater, air-conditioner, and furnace disconnects to make sure they can be safely disconnected during an emergency - Looked at the panels but not the individual units.
Checking GFIs and ARC fault breakers - completed
Evaluating electrical service cable and grounding system - completed
10% OFF additional work with this offer purchase - Asked about some additional work but was not offered any percent discount when given a price.
Providing a post-inspection report identifying areas of safety concern ONLY
This "deal" was a complete waste of money and time. If anyone is considering purchasing this deal I personally recommend against it.

I spoke with Paul the owner on December 18th, he asked if this was an emergency. He was ready to send someone out immediately. I had an appointment to go to, so he scheduled for the next morning. He called back to reschedule because he had an emergency with wiring that caused an electrical fire. I was willing to wait another day, but he called again later in the day to let me know that he was working on the other house that night and he would send Chad out to my house the next morning as previously scheduled. I really do appreciate this kind of customer service and care.
Chad arrived on time and was able to quickly determine the problems for the three rooms. This is an old house built in 1940s, electrical was rewired in the 1970s and 1991. This house is in great disrepair, so I know it was not easy to fix some of the problems. Chad let me know what he was doing at every point in the job. He is quick, efficient and friendly.
I have not lived in the islands for many years but I truly appreciate the aloha and the Southern hospitality. Thanks so much for a great job!

Paul takes the time to explain what he is doing and why he is doing it.  He is easy to talk with, was responsive to what I wanted to have done and gave me some good ideas.   Paul is definitely there to work for the customer.
I had a question after the visit and he promptly came back to take care of it.  Paul accommodated my calendar in scheduling each of his visits.  Many service providers request you to be waiting at home for a window of time.  This is not the case with Paul.  He shows up when he says he will and gets the job done. 
I will definitely use East Oahu Electric again
