Associa Hawaii - Honolulu

In 3 years my Hawaii condo association has had 5 different Associa managers. Most did the bare minimum and 1 was competent. They assess units for bills without doing any research to make sure the bill is actually a unit responsibility versus an AOAO responsibility. So very unimpressed. Their ads put forth the impression that they actually care ....but they don't.

We used this company for Rental Property Management and would never do any business with this company again under any of it's names. It used to be Certified Management and changed to Certified Hawaii when it was sold about 7 years ago, then changed again to Associa Hawaii, but it served as the Rental Realtors for our condo in Honolulu for many years. In Jan. 2013, when we were notified that our unit needed a new stove, we learned that the last tenant had done considerable damage to the entire unit. When I saw the photos of the unit, that I requested, I asked how all this damage could have happened and was told by a Certified Hawaii Rental Manager that the unit had not been inspected in 3 years. This resulted in a huge re-model estimate for us. We could not deal with the Better Business Bureau in Hawaii about this problem because Certified Hawaii is owned by Associa Inc. in Texas. From the Dallas Texas Better Business Bureau we learned that Associa Inc. has an A+ Review although it has 277 Total Closed Complaints with 32 pages of complaint text including 163 problems with product/service, and 112 problems with billing/collection. We received a response from Associa Inc., through the TX. BBB, stating that we misquoted a Rental Manager at Certified Hawaii that the unit had not been inspected in three years. Associa Inc. reported that walk throughs and inspections were conducted but, inspection findings were not always written in report format. Apparently inspection findings were not only not recorded, if inspected at all, they were not reported to the owners of the property, certainly not to us. We received no useful assistance from this company and would never do any business with this company again, under any name it uses.
