He did a great job. He was punctual, easy to communicate with and pleasant.

It was great. I was skeptical about no stain on the wood, but he prepared the floors and applied the finish and they look GREAT! He had no problems doing each room separately because it was going to be very difficult for me to get all the furnithure down the narrow stairs of my older home. So I moved the furniture back and forth in each room as they were completed.
anyone looking to refinish floors should at the very least contact JW Floors. They were easily the best decision for the price and qualtiy. They are a busy company for that reason I believe.

Overall it didn't go very well. First, Jason's equipment broke down the day he came to start the job. He had set up everything, but one of his sanders conked out. I felt bad for him. We didn't reschedule until a couple of months later, but on the scheduled day, he stopped by to explain his other sander had to go in the shop. It was another week before he could start. I don't blame the equipment failure on Jason--stuff happens, and this wasn't his fault.
He and his helper sanded the floors the first day, and put on the first coat of finish. I was very disappointed, because the finish was starkly light, even though Jason and I had talked about using an amber stain to match the finish to the adjoining hall. Jason explained that he couldn't do that unless he used an oil-based product, but that just isn't true because I sanded, stained, and sealed the hall floor myself, and another company had sanded/sealed another bedroom. Both jobs were completed with water-based stains and finishes, and they matched. Also, Jason had previously quoted using a water-based product (with an upcharge of $75, which I accepted.) The next morning Jason called to explain he couldn't come back because the finish was still wet on 2 other jobs, and mine surely had to be wet, too. But this was a water-based product that per the manufacturer dries in 2-4 hours, the heat was on in the house, and the relative humidity was low (under 40%.) The floor was bone dry, and I wish he had just said he couldn't make it.
Re. the stain, at first Jason said he could put a stain on directly over the first coat of finish, but, as an amateur woodworker, that made no sense to me. I called the manufacturer, and they confirmed my judgment. I called Jason, who agreed to re-sand the floor put the stain and finish down, all at no extra cost. He came back the next day and sanded/first coated the floor. Then 2 more coats each of which took a day.
There were other hassles, such as showing up 1 to 2 hours late, but I don't want to pile-on too much.
In the end, I'm disappointed. The floor has many long, parallel gouges that mar the final product, and the stain is much lighter than the adjoining hall. He reduced the price from the quoted $485 to $340, but I wasn't interested in a lower price. However, I gave up, not wanting the disruption of having the floor done again, and not knowing if it would turn out as expected.

The price was reasonable. They did the job and they were able to accommodate me because I had other things going on in the house and I didn't really schedule it that well. They were able to work around. They came at the time they said.

and local services - but JW needs to step up their professionalism. Josh seems like a hard working and personable guy - but I would be willing to pay more for a better job - done right the first time - without all the hassels.

Jason showed up right on time for quote. The job was a quality job overall and though a bit longer then originally estimated, it looked great. There was one area, however, that had some rot and really needed to be replaced. I saw this after inspection and wanted him to come back to replace (for an additional amount). When it came time for it to be done though, Jason called and said he had his tools stolen and could no longer do it. I was a bit miffed that this was not brought up when he was doing the work. He then just put it on me to find someone else to finish the job. I thought this was very unprofessional. It seems like if you want to work with a customer, help finish the job and don't pass the buck. In any case, I called around and got a few estimates that were much higher for this little bit of work (in part because it was only a small job now, noone wanted to do it). Because I had paid Jason out for the work he did (refinishing the floors of a duplex), there was no incentive for him to come back and finish the small rot job. I will still get a quote from him again (as he is quite competitive) but will consider this in light of other considerations.

They were very wonderful and they worked greatly. What they tempt to do with the floor was great, unfortunately it was just too far gone. They also responded very quickly, they were here within 2 hours of phoning and giving us the estimates. I have no complains about their service. They ended not charging us at all. We hoped that they could be able to save the wood flooring that we uncovered but they weren't able to, so they didn't charge us.

Jason has a really nice demeanor and customer service attitude. He is organized, punctual and efficient but a bit rushed. He charges by the foot and then anything extra like handwork around spindles and using the water-based poly. The only issue was that his sander left grooves in the stringers on a bunch of stairs. He didn't tell me because he thinks it is normal for a job, I call it damaging property. He sanded the grooves out without any complaints. I just would prefer that he had pointed it out and offered to sand them without me asking. But he is really easy to work with, friendly and likes his job.

He was the lowest price, and we are quite satisfied. Will certainly call him again when the time comes to redo the rest of the floors in the house.

They were great, and they were very reasonably priced. It's a family-run business, and the owner is easy to relate to and communicate with. Also, the man who worked on my floors was really knowledgeable. They sanded 4 times and recommended water-based polyurethane.

JW moved the large furniture out of and back into the rooms. Phenomenal results done over a week (we took a week vacation out of the city while the work was being done). When we returned, there was hardly any dust anywhere, and barely a scent lingered. I'd be happy to recommend them to family and friends.

I can't sing the praises of JW Flooring enough. Jason came out for an estimate the same day I called and then squeezed us in to an already busy schedule in short order (our job was on the smaller side). The end result was top notch and his prices were extremely competitive. He uses an dust collection system and there was almost zero dust. I recommend JW Flooring without question if you are looking for an excellent result at a great price.

It went very well. It was a one man operation, maybe could have had another guy but it was very professional. It was outstanding across the board. I would use them in the future without a question.

He was pretty good! He did an excellent job! He does floors for new homes as well. The machine stays outside so there is no dust inside your house. He has great craftsmen ship. The floors look like a piece of furniture now. It was very impressive. The price was really competitive. He was there when he said he would be and took care of everything.

Very responsive and flexible with scheduling. Prompt arrival first day. Owner had assistant sand the floors, he checked in periodically while managing other jobs. First two coats applied, with third coat planned for next morning. Owner was flexible in helping to coordinate schedule to minize excessive odor in the house. When I inspected floor after second coat (I arrived after he had left), it was clear that the sanding and finish application were inferior. There were notable grooves/uneven spots throughout the floor in both the hallway and room. There were circular marks in several areas from the edger. There was pooling of the polyurethane spanning across the width of the hallway in at least one area as if someone had paused with the applicator brush and the finish had dried before being spread. I asked the owner about the 'grooves' in the floor, he initially seemed surprised but said he would look at the floor when he arrived for next coat. Spoke with him next day in person, he initially stated 'industry standard is to view the floor from standing and look straight down, not from an angle with light reflection" - however, the defects were so noticeable this was a mute point and unappreciated. In the same breath, he did readily agree to re-sand the entire floor. He personally came back the next week (based on mutual availability), resanded and finished the floors. The floors look much improved and feel quality is more comparable to what was charged. The only other point is that he agreed find a hardwood threshold to help blend the hallway with another bedroom with previously finished hardwood floors (to help hide the transition point). He quoted a reasonable price and stated he would have it installed within a few days. It has been 2 weeks now - I am assuming that, after the overall experience, I will not be hearing back from him. Overall, I found the owner easy and pleasant to work with. I think he does do a good job himself and is overall very responsive. However, I think there should have been closer monitoring and/or training of his employee. In the end, it caused alot of time and frustration for him as well as myself. I have tried to be as objective and accurate in describing the details as possible.

Whatever I needed from them they had done correctly. They performed what they were supposed to do when they were supposed to do it.

Plugged sander(s) and vac equipment into breaker box in basement. Left the place clean after every sanding round. Underpriced competition by about $300. Well done.

They are a small company. They've been very flexible in terms of working with and around other contractors in the house. They have helped with suggestions and ideas. The experience has been great and I plan on using them for further service in the near future. The only thing I would note is that administrative aspects were not as professionally handled as they might have been.

Our floors look fantastic! JW Floors did an EXCELLENT job! The job did take a bit longer than what most other crews were quoting us at, but JW Floors finished the job earlier than any other quoted contractor's start date. The reason it took a bit longer was that JW Floors has a packed schedule. They do a lot of refinishing for one of the major Real Estate companies in town, and Jason fit us in his schedule even though we called him only a week in advance. If you schedule your work in advance, it won't take as long. In any event, Jason worked days, nights, weekends, and even on the fourth of July to finish our job in the time frame that he gave us. Jason is a driven individual and it was a pleasure to do business with such a company. I wish everyone did business like JW Floors.
