Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc
About us
2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters, Drywall, Decks/Porches and Carpentry Unfinished! There are many construction companies out there that will only help you solve half or less of your project needs, meaning you need to use more than one company to get what you want done. One company will install a roof system, but won't do the soffit work, or one will install Hardiplank siding but won't paint it. At Housworth, we are one company with expertise in many areas of construction. We won't leave any project half done. Housworth was established in 1929 by Gladis Housworth. It was known as the Housworth Plumbing Company up until the time it was taken over by Jack Patrick. It then became Housworth Construction. It is now managed by Laila Patrick the current CEO. We have been under Laila Patrick's leadership for the past 12yrs. Locally owned & operated. Additional contact name - 2018 Super Service Award Winner in Roofing, Painting Exterior, Gutters,& Drywall.

"Thank you so much for allowing us to serve you. Please call us if you need any more home improvement estimates."
"We don't have any records on file for this customer or address. Not sure who this is."
Roofing crew were safety conscious and knew the trade. They kept the work area tidy, clean and free from unsightly debris, construction materials, tools, etc. and were conscious of our privacy and the neighbor's as well.
Richard Anderson, the Project Manager was very knowledgeable, detail oriented and careful in making sure our home and landscaping were protected from being damaged, especially during the tear off of the old roof. He responds quickly to correct work deficiencies if any and will go the extra mile to offer his expertise to solve problems and how to save us money.
After the work was done, he went up the roof to perform his quality check, went around the house and made notes of the punch lists. Minor corrections will be done next week.
He finally flew his camera equipped drone and took aerial photos of the roofing work, which was emailed to us for reference. This is how a company should make use of this new technology and harness its capabilities.
Thanks Richard!!!
I made a point of telling estimator, who was very knowledgeable, that I did NOT want ridge vents, because of the special spray foam insulation I had in the attic. We revisited this issue several times, agreeing that there would not be ridge vents. I even wrote no ridge vents into the contract.
But--the crew put on ridge vents anyway. This meant my insulating attic seal was damaged. The Site supervisor did not call me that evening when this error was discovered, by me, even though I alerted the crew when I saw this had occurred. (Site supervisor was not present at my house in latter part of day.) I called office the next morning and asked to speak to owner. Richard co owner said he had heard from site supervisor (who had called me that morning after I called to request a phone back). Note that I had to call them, not the other way around.
Richard and I agreed on a remedy (they pay for repair to insulation), which I arranged. He apologized, and Louis site manager apologized. But gosh, this was alot of stress for something that should have been straightforward and for which I paid a lot of money. There needs to be clearer communication and fail safes. There needs to be a less casual protocol for mistakes too, which I understand can occur.
Gutter people showed up a day later than I expected and no one called to tell me.
Roof and gutters look good and I think are of high quality. The process of getting them was arduous. I cannot recommend this company, even though I think they were trying to do a good job and were always polite.
"We deeply apologize for the ridge vents being installed on your home and the lack of communication from our production manager. We have addressed these issues and have implemented new "on the job procedures". We hope by us rectifying the issues that occurred with your spray foam that you know that we will always take full responsibility for any mistake that we make. We hope if you need anything else in the future you will give us an opportunity to serve you."
"Thank you for allowing us to complete the project on your home. If you need anything else in the future please call us and we would love to come out to give you a free estimate."
"Thanks so much for being a loyal Housworth customer. We enjoy making homes "Housworthy"! Please call us anytime you need us."
"Thanks so much for allowing us to make your home "Housworthy"! Please call us anytime you need us to come out."
"We apologize for the missed appointment time that was originally scheduled. Thank you for giving us a second chance to come out and meet you and provide you with a free estimate."
"Housworth gave you a estimate for $700.00 for replacing missing shingles that were blown off your roof. Anytime shingles are missing from a roof system it typically means that they were installed incorrectly. Our workmanship warranty for this type of repair is 90 days. Our records indicate that you also took a $50.00 credit from Angies List which brought the total to $650.00 for the repairs to your roof system. Our office has nothing on file that you called with any issues after your warranty period."
"We respect the opinions all our customers good or bad. We are currently investigating this matter; however, we would have hoped that [Member Name Removed] would have contacted our office concerning these matters. We are now learning that correspondence and phone calls were not made to our office, but only to Richard. We find this strange that [Member Name Removed] of [Member Information Removed] would only correspond with Richard and not the company. We will update our response after our investigation is complete."
Richard from Housworth came to the house and before he had even looked at the roof said that we probably had hail or wind damage and that he could get me a new roof through my insurance for free. He then climbed on the roof and saw 9 shingles that were damaged and said that if I didn't choose to file an insurance claim for a new roof, their minimum charge would be $550 to replace the 9 damaged shingles. My fianceé said that price was ridiculous so he reduced it to $450 because I had used their company in the past. I was 7 days away from closing and did not need the hassle of insurance claims, etc., plus my insurance agent said that if they agreed there was damage, any insurance coverage would be prorated because of the age of the roof (16 years).
I called a second company, Kaiser Siding and Roofing, and he only saw 1 damaged shingle, did not mention needing a new roof or any hail or wind damage, and replaced the 1 damaged shingle for a minimum charge of $225. Still high but half of the reduced rate from Housworth.
A male roofer/construction worker in Georgia in the 60's or 70's being told he had worked hard forever on his company and done very well, but nothing like his daughter would one day make it become??? I suspect he would spit out some chew and laugh loudly:) Oh well. This company is an outlier. Morally sound. In it for the long haul customer by customer. Richard knows me and my wife and our children by name. Very competent and professional. Many roofers chase storms and then leave. Don't make my mistake and let one talk his way onto your roof. Call Housworth and then spend your time with your job or family because your roof will be fully taken care of!
"[Member Name Removed], thank you so much for your review. We most certainly value you as one of our customers and we thank you for allowing us to serve you. If you need anything in the future please don't hesitate to call us. Also we read this review to Richard and he wanted us to tell you hi! Have a wonderful weekend. Housworth Team"
Everything went
great and the project manager Luis Vasquez was very helpful and resourceful;
he selected our colors and his customer service skills spoke volumes; he was
the greatest! Â They started working a little
later than we expected but the project took only two days as Luis stated. Although
we noticed additional caulking was needed after the project   was completed, the painter had to come back twice,
but the second time, the painter completed a thorough walk through without me having
to suggest that he check additional areas.Â
Also, the payment was processed immediately
but ironically I had to follow up with the company concerning the receipt and warranty
but   overall they deserve an ?A?.
 My only recommendation
is that the project manager compete a walk through first, after the project is
completed; and then complete second a walk through with the customer, in order to
address any concerns the customer may have.
Â
It was our pleasure doing Business with Housworth!

"We appreciate all of our customers and welcome their review good or bad. Our investigation revealed the following. 1. Customer requested and estimate for a porch system and we gave them an estimate. 2. Customer made a change request and we gave them estimate 3. Customer made another change request and we gave them an estimate 4. Customer made another change request and we gave them an estimate 5. Customer makes a final change request and we gave them an estimate 6. We discovered that a mistake was made in our estimate price 7. We contacted customer and explained the many change request were made and that we found a $4000.00 mistake in our estimate. 8. We presented a correction to our customer which would only have them paying $1500.00 for their final change request. 9. Customer said they would not pay anything additional and requested that we cancel our contract with them. 10. We apologize to this customer and still wish to help them if they request."

I found Housworth on Angie's list and asked for an estimate to build a wood front porch portico due to the number of great ratings. Even though Housworth's estimate was pretty much equal to the other estimates for the build, I hired Housworth because they really listened to my request on the design of the porch and their work estimate made that very clear. The porch was built in 2 days and the craftsmanship is excellent. There was no cover over the front porch on this 48 year old Williamsburg house and the addition of the portico added so much style that I see cars stop to look and hear neighbors walking remark on the beauty. I was so pleased with Housworth's work ethic and craftsmanship that I hired them to paint the house and shutters, add window toppers to make the windows look longer and add style and install shutter dogs on all the shutters. I worked with Luis Anderson as my Home Improvement Specialist and he was nothing but a joy. It is obvious the crew respects and likes working with him and that is certainly good for me. I had a crew from another company working to renovate the garage as the sheetrock had pealed of the walls and fallen off the ceiling. Housworth's work was so superior to the other company that I let them go and hired Housworth to finish the job. I wanted to hire them to put a garage door in but that estimate was just too high.
Excellent work and great crew to work with!
I am renovating this 48 year old house from to to bottom as it never had any previous renovations. I will get an estimate from Housworth on any additional work I need done.
