The work started the last week of June and was supposed to last 2.5 weeks, and it took 3 months instead (work completed 2nd week of september) Mr Anderson had to build 3 vanities: the first was unacceptable (bad paint work, wood moldings not straight, wrong size: would not fit between the tub and the wall unless he took the wall he just built down....) The 2nd vanity was not deep enough to allow for a sink with 2 faucets in the usual place, i.e. behind the sink. He had the sink and faucet from day 1, so had all the measurements yet he built a vanity clearly without taking attention to the size of the sink.... The company that came to measure the vanity before installing the marble top, asked me if I intended to put the faucets on the side of the sink.... and whether I intended to just have my top drawers for show, because they were flush with the top of the cabinet, and therefore, once the marble top was installed, I would no longer be able to open them. This second vanity cabinet was also dented and there were wood defects all across 2 of the 4 doors. Rather than have Mr Anderson rebuild doors again since they were damaged, I offered to go buy some from IKEA since they had the same exact sizes. The cabinet base had to be rebuilt to make it possible for the sink to fit and the top drawers to open. So the drawer boxes that Mr Anderson had built would no longer be deep enough. I went to IKEA and found a cabinet with the exact depth that was needed for the 3rd cabinet. I gave Mr Anderson the possibility to use the drawer boxes from this cabinet if he so wished rather than build new ones. He immediately accepted. All he had to do was attach the rails to the new base. The shower: Mr Anderson installed a handheld shower and a rain shower. He mixed up the valves, inverted them. The rain shower had not enough water pressure unless the handle was turned completely to the right, but that made the water boiling hot. The handheld shower ended up with the handle for the rain shower, and vice versa I hired a plumber to reopen the wall and they were appalled as he had installed the pipe behind a beam to support the new wall structure. Fixing the problem, by reinstalling 2 new valves would have cost over $900. I opted for a 2nd option that I could live with for $387 I asked Mr Anderson of he could replace a spot light he installed inside the shower with three little spot lights inside the shower as I wished to have more light. He told me to go buy a 100 watt bulb (the maximum allowed for the light bucket was 60 as I found out from the person at Lowe's who helped me with this). I even went and bought the 3 smaller bucket lights (which he said Lowes did not carry), and asked him to use them to replace the light he had installed. He totally ignored my request and never did it He scraped the popcorn ceiling in my bedroom without covering any of the vents, while his wife was putting in the grout for the floor tiles. I was appalled as I knew the dust would go from the bedroom into the bathroom. It did and the grout has a greyish "dirty" look. It was supposed to be more brown than grey. I asked if they could fix this. He said they did, but did not do anything about it The dust from the ceiling was left on the floor for over a month. I was the one who had to cover all the vents. He moved a vent slightly, cut a new hole in the ceiling for it and did not put the vent cover back for a few weeks. The new opening allowed for attic insulation to fall inside the bedroom. He installed the sink once the vanity top was delivered, and flooded the bathroom. Did not tell me anything about it until I saw a huge yellow discoloration on the ceiling of the room under the bathroom. He left the day he installed the faucets and told me I could not use the hot water as that faucet was leaking. It turns out both the cold and hot faucets were leaking. He came back the following week to fix this, and when he left, the faucets were still leaking. I called a plumber and they were stunned by what he had done. He primed the bathroom ceiling without covering the brand new acrylic tub. I had to scrape off the paint for hours so as to avoid damaging /scratching it He never put the finishes touches to the bathroom. I had to pay someone to add the quarter rounds to the baseboards, and the finishing touches around the corner tub The IKEA wardrobe: The wardrobe came with every screw included, he charged me $500 for material. I asked him to please explain to me what material he charged me for, he has yet to respond. I received an invoice before he started the work and since he had forgotten the ceiling scraping in the first invoice and I had ended up buying the IKEA wardrobe instead of allowing him to build it from scratch, he was to give me a final invoice with the remaining balance I still owed him. I have both invoices, and he increased without giving me any explanation, 2 previous charges. A total of a little over $700 were totally unjustified He pressured me into paying him before all the work was completed, and though I was far from satisfied with his work, I still trusted him with regards to the actual costs he would charge me. He showed me the due balance on his computer and went down the invoice very quickly, not allowing me to see the details. I reminded him that according to his first estimate, I was not supposed to pay the remaining balance until all work was done. He pressured me to pay, explaining he had bills coming in and that of course he would come to finish. I asked him to send me that invoice via e-mail and had to ask 4 more times until he finally did, one month after he had asked me to pay that same invoice. I asked for him to reimburse me for the plumbing repairs and the unjustified charges he billed me for. He never responded. Mr Anderson worked on my bathroom renovations in between other jobs. He never respected deadlines and did not keep any promise about finishing at specific times. After the 2nd week, he took a one week vacation with his wife. He always came 2 or 3 hours later than he announced and some days he did not even come at all (because he would take a home inspection job or worked on his daughter's deck or had to take his younger daughter to a soccer game). Starting at the end of July he would never come before 6pm and would work until 11pm, because he was driving school buses during the day time. Mr Anderson took several other jobs while working on my house, as I found out from our conversations. Several times, he came to my house without having had much sleep, because of his other jobs, and the quality of his work suffered greatly from it: mistakes after mistakes, work done at the last minute. Instead of plainly apologizing for errors, he found reasons after reasons to try to justify (the wood defects cannot be visible until the wood is painted, etc). In his response to my review, he claims that the delays were due to me changing my mind. Yet the tub he mentions, is clearly listed in his first invoice. He also claims he did not charge me for extra work, such as replacing the sash of the window. I was the person who went to Home Depot to buy a new window and "fixing the sash" simply required switching the bottom part of the window..... The window was bought according to his specific measurements and so there was no reframing. The hole for the window was made only after I had bought the window. The grand finale was when he flooded my bathroom floor when connecting the drain and pipe to the sink (causing a 3 feet long water stain damage on the newly painted ceiling underneath) The plumbers, painters and company that came to install the vanity top can attest to the quality of his work. Clearly, to this day, he will not take responsibility for his mistakes. Not once did he apologize for any of the issues, instead he charged me for his mistakes and blamed the delays on me even when his own invoice contradicts what he claims.

Response from Anderson Home Inspection
I was shocked to see this complaint from the member. We always do quality work. There were many items we did for her more than once because she changed her mind of what she wanted after the work was completed. We did these at no extra charge. The shower entrance was done in tile, Then she decided she wanted wood trim, then sheet rock trim. We framed for a window she bought. Then she decided she wanted a bigger window. We reframed with no charge. The sash did not seal from the factory we replaced it no charge. We worked on her bathroom 7 days a week to complete the job. She asked for more things to be done as we were working. I finally said no more until this remodel is complete then we can do the other things needed. The original time frame was 2 weeks. This was before she decided to add a corner tub and change the side of the wall the vanity was on. All these changes take time to move plumbing and sewer that needed ran. The vanity she wanted at first was a corner vanity, we built that she decided it was to big. The 2nd vanity we built was the standard 18” deep. That would not hold the sink with the faucet behind it. We built a 3rd vanity that she wanted the IKEA doors on. She also bought a 9 drawer cabinet she wanted installed in the vanity that needed cut in ½ and modified. We did this at not extra charge. When we were done I asked the member if she was happy with everything. Her response was yes. I showed her the final bill and wrote me final check. I’m sorry she is not happy now. I didn't know she felt this way about this job. She does like her bathroom and hope she can enjoy it for a long time to come. Jeff Anderson Anderson Home Inspection & Improvements Inc.
