I called Trees Plus for an estimate to prune 3 trees, when
the arborist arrived his recommendation was to do nothing, in his opinion the
trees were healthy and pruning was not required.
When I pointed out a few area of concern and some pruning
that my wife and I had already done he gave us a few pointers.
It was very refreshing to find an honest business.
We received a pruning quote from another business for $500,
it is important to note that I do not think the first company was overcharging
buy just their opinion on work that was required.

Walter and his employees are all very professional and responsive. Walter knows more than anyone would care to know about the care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and grass. Ann-Marie is the office manager and she makes sure that the customer is in the loop and manages the customer expectations very well. The work crews arrived promptly, did their work well, communicated well, and even made good when they made mistakes. Bottom line, they did a lot of work in my yard and made sure I was happy with the job before they discussed payment. They even worked with me on making payment arrangements. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will use them again in the future.

This is by far the best tree service we have ever used. John, who gave us our estimate, was extremely professional and not pushy. He also patiently answered every question we had. The men who did the job were also very professional and extremely hard working. Our job was big and they had to be careful of houses, neighbor's fences, and a lot of shrubbery that we wanted to keep. They worked from approximately 8 am to 7 pm and finished the entire job in one day. Due to our yard situation, they had to use a Vermeer machine to bring the wood from the back yard to the front to a dumpster and the chipper (a long way over a manicured yard). They laid down plywood to protect the grass, driveway, etc. The cleanup they did was unbelievable. You could hardly tell they had been here. They even used a blower to "fluff up" the grass where the plywood had been!

I hired Trees Plus to trim a tall elm that was overhanging my house, as well as to remove a tall, nuisance privet tree in a shade garden area I have in my back yard. Walter from Trees Plus was also able to point out ailing trees in the garden and instruct me as to how to selectively remove small scrub trees so that my hardwoods could grow stronger. The team arrived on time the day of the job and walked through the job with Walter, who explained thoroughly everything that was to be done. The guys removed several medium-sized trees without any damage to my surrounding plantings. They cut out dead wood from tall pines in the garden. They even cleared away tree debris that was already on the ground in the garden. Tree limbs and debris were put into a chipper that they had on site. Before leaving the job, the guys blew off all the driveway and path areas and left everything very neat and clean. They were a great group - very polite and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

John came by as scheduled on a Saturday morning to look at the trees along the back of my yard and provided sound advice on what should be removed or simply trimmed. His quote was in line with my expectations and after a little negotiation we arrived at an agreeable price. John and his crew showed up promptly a week later and completed the job in about 3 hours. They laid down plywood to protect the lawn and were careful when cutting the trees not to damage my fence that was very close. They did a good job cleaning up and even followed up the next day to make sure everything was okay. My yard looks much better and I'm pleased with the work they did.

The crew(7) arrived at the appointed time and worked with great energy all day. They worked very professionally to complete this large job in about seven hours. I would definitely use them again. NOTE: if you are looking for "cheap and dirty", then this may not be the company for you. If you care about having the job done properly, then I would definitely consider Trees Plus.

Alan and John came out and provided a good quote and description of the work to be done. They were very professional and not pushy. They had a cancellation for the next day so the work was done faster than expected. They arrived on time and all work was done in a professional manner. After they finished the yard was very clean with no trash or anything left behind, other than a wonderful job. The yard looks so much better. I will use them again.

I was very impressed with how all of this worked out. Several guys showed up, on time, with all of the needed equipment and a big wood chipper. They finished in about four (4) hours and left very little evidence in our yard, or on the driveway, that they had done all of this work.All of the workers were friendly and seemed to know exactly what they were doing and how to get the job done perfectly.We have already recommended Trees Plus to our neighbors.

An ex Brit who knows nothing about trees and plants here in the USA, I took the trouble to get three quotes from three tree service companies to cut down three trees and do a whole lot other tidying up in my new garden. While Trees Plus and Walter Byrd the owner did not give me the cheapest quote, Walter was by far the most knowledgeable of the people I spoke to.He is like a walking encyclopedia. We negotiated what I hope was a win-win deal, and right on time he and his crew turned up. They did an amazing job. All the crew are very professional. They are quick, efficient, and perfectionists, and what is even better they are all very nice guys to work with. They are pleasant, courteous, and know exactly what they are doing. They did everything they said they would, to the highest of standards. I would thoroughly recommend them, and if I ever need any more tree work done they are the people I will ask.Whatever you do, don't fall for the company that will do this on the cheap. With Trees Plus you not only get what you pay for but a whole lot of help and support, information and advice besides. A nice garden is an investment for the future and I feel I have spent my money wisely.

Alan came out on Saturday the 24th to give me an estimate. He came on time. He was professional and polite. He assessed my trees I wanted removed and agreed that they should be removed. I signed up for TreePlus services on the spot. He instructed me that someone from the office will be calling to schedule a time next week. On Monday morning, they called and we scheduled a time at 745AM on the 27th. My wife said they were quick and done before the estimated time. They were very clean and we didn't see any debris from the cut down trees. The tree stump grind was performed the following week. We noticed that they forgot to take the fallen branch that fell on the gazebo. This branch wasn't the result of their work but from a previous storm. I contacted treesplus and the following week they took care of it. All in all their services have been spot on. Typically projects don't always happen like clockwork but it nice to see a company that responds to issues that come up professional and promptly.

Trees Plus came out immediately and walked me around the property. He was extremely knowledgeable and did not waste my time as we walked through. He knew right away which trees were valuable to my property and which trees were a danger. He was very careful not to make too many changes to the property in order to keep the visual appropriateness. After they removed the trees which went seamlessly, they came back out to grind the stumps. It took a phone call or two to remind them of a stump that they accidentally left, but they did come to grind it relatively quickly.
We spend quite a bit and Trees Plus worked with us on payment which I really appreciated! It was a great experience and I have already referred them to many of my neighbors. I think you would be very happy with their honesty and how efficient they are.

I normally don?t provide rating or submit comments regarding our service experience. I?m submitting this revision to the report that was posted May 8, 2012 because I don?t believe the summary that was entered by Angie?s List staff accurately reflects the many details that were discussed during our very short conversation.
I provided the review because I received an unsolicited call from Angie?s List. I was confused by the call and didn?t understand why Angie?s List would be contacting me now or what purpose the review would serve. Trees Plus completed the service several years ago. I was not a Angie's List member at the point in time that they called me; my membership expired at least a year ago. Overall I did not have a positive experience but considered my issues closed a few days after the work was done. The customer service rep explained to me that Trees Plus had given my name as a former customer and they wanted my feedback. Later I found out that this is part of a survey program that Angie?s list provides to its commercial customers.
Regarding the service, when I met with the owner of Trees Plus (Walter Bryd) he was very knowledgeable about trees and I trusted his recommendations regarding planting and overall tree care. His recommendations were confirmed or validated by other vendors I interviewed at the time. Walter?s expertise is the main reasons I selected Trees Plus. His estimate was accurate and included all the trees I wanted removed. The group that arrived did an adequate job cutting down the trees.
With that said, I don?t plan to use Trees Plus in the future. I say this for three reasons.
1. When I received the estimate from Trees Plus we discussed a range of outcomes of what I should expect. I raised the issues that I had discussed when we had another tree removed years earlier. We discussed things like what happens if the tree falls on my house (Trees Plus was insured and provided a certificate of insurance), an employee was hurt (Trees Plus had Workers Comp insurance), etc.
One item that was not discussed in clear terms was the potential to damage my yard when the trees were removed. I explained that I had had a very similar if not identical large tree removed several years earlier by a competitor. That removal left us with somewhat large scraping marks or abrasions from the tree trunk to the street (approximately 200 ft). This was an eye sore, but the damage was acceptable in that it was a manageable repair effort. I said at that time that I could live with similar damage or slightly more damage in the yard but I didn?t want a costly bill as a result of the service. There were no guarantees made or any commitments regarding damage or repair. But, based on that conversation I didn?t believe a significant repair bill was at all likely either. It?s obvious now that there was a gap in understanding on this issue.
The outcome of the removal was far worse than I had expected. I was left with 10-12 (10? to 24?) holes or ?indentations? along with a noticeable rut at one end of my yard and a damaged flower bed. Although I tried to repair the flower bed, over time the damage created a significant drainage problem in my yard as well as my neighbor?s. The flower bed was well established and drainage had never been and issue before this. This ended in a costly unplanned repair bill.
I raised these issues to the site coordinator immediately when I saw the holes that day. He told me that this sort of damage occurred with all large tree removal like mine?I should have expected it, that he was not prepared to do anything to correct the issues and it would be up to me to fix my yard. Follow-up on this issue was unanswered.
3. To add insult to this mess the behavior of several of the workers that day was unacceptable. A couple of the workers climbed up the stairs of my deck and I caught them teasing my dog even though I had asked to keep the workers away from the front and back doors. Beyond the behavior problems, it was difficult if not impossible to communicate with them.
As I said this work was done years ago. The category ratings reflect my opinion of the work when it was completed. A small amount of consideration on the repair or a discussion at that time would have gone a long way to resolving this problem. I was not asking Trees Plus to replace or re-landscape my backyard. I had very little grass and did not want to be unreasonable. All I wanted was for the most severe damage corrected.
I was frustrated by the impact to my yard and flower bed but angry because if these two guys had time to tease my dog they certainly could have used the time with a rake and shovel to fix the holes in my yard. I am not asking for any additional work to be done by Trees Plus at this time OR attempting to pressure Trees Plus to make any repairs or reimbursement for repairs. I?ve already completed more than 50% of the repair and can address the remaining items on my own.

"We were very sorry to hear of this situation. When the original review was posted, we were shocked because it is so out of character for us, as we always return calls for messages left for us. We are unclear, as maybe the customer called and did not leave a message because this was the first that we have heard of the situation. However, the reviewer was contacted immediately after reading the review in an attempt to gather more details and make the first steps in getting the issue resolved from two years earlier. An appointment was then scheduled for the following Saturday, May 19th, to do a walkthrough of the property. While on site, it was agreed that Trees Plus would correct the complaint, not because we felt pressured to do so, but because we felt it was the only right thing to do. After receiving the modified review, it is clear that the reviewer no longer wishes to follow through on the issues that were raised."

They were excellent! They showed up right on time and as scheduled. They finished the work within the time they said they would. The foreman knew what he was doing and his crew was a good-working crew. They did a quality job and I would definitely use them again!

I had 1/2 of a split trunk tree fall down in August. I asked Trees Plus Ltd to give an estimate for removal of this tree (and the remaining standing portion) and a few others I had concerns about, as well as assess the health of all trees. I was able to get an appointment for a free estimate quickly, and Walter came out and evaluated the trees. He was very personable, professional, and displayed excellent knowledge of the variety of trees, shrubs, and flowers in my yard. I did obtain an estimate from another company as well, which was a little lower. However, I decided to go with Trees Plus because the estimate also included the tree pruning, and, more importantly, I felt much more comfortable with Walter's knowledge and plan for tree removal. The company also carries both liability and worker's compensation insurance, which was important to me.
A 3-4 man crew came out to do the tree removal and pruning, and cleaned up afterward. My yard looked better after they left than before they arrived. The stump grinding was completed by another crew the next day. Throughout the process, Walter and his team were professional, prompt, and courteous. I think the price was reasonable for what they did. I would use this company again, and I have already recommended them to friends.

Overall, the experience went very well. They really worked with me, and they cleaned up the site very well. They removed everything and restored the property to look as though nobody was there (minus the trees). Their price was good. The work turned out very good.

Overall, the experience was excellent. By the time we finished dealing with them, we were on a first-name basis. When he came out to look at the job, he gave me ideas on what to do with other shrubs or bushes that we have. They were just wonderful, pleasant to deal with (even when they didn’t know whether or not we were going to work with them) and answered any questions that I had. The crew was pleasant to deal with as well; they were respectful of our property, cleaned up the lawn afterwards and did good work. They stuck with what was quoted; we didn’t feel like they were price-gouging. At the end of the job, they provided us with free mulch that we were able to use. I’m happy with their services.

The experience has been good. They have arborists, so they know what they’re doing. They’re careful and get rid of the debris. I think their price is okay. I’ve been very pleased with them. They have good equipment and good employees.
