Description of Work: Thomas Maggio showed up with another man to evaluate 2 roof leaks. The areas were repaired fairly quickly for $525 which involved sealing a few holes and replaces 1-2 shingles. About 2 weeks later when it rained next, the roof continued to leak at the one of the two spots. Thomas told me to call him directly rather than call the office because he could respond faster. When I called him on Monday and told him the one site was still leaking he said, "that's great", meaning the other site wasn't leaking. Hmmm...ok. Next he said he would call me during the week and let me know when he would be close and he'd take care of it. Didn't hear from him until Friday. He said he was 19 miles away so he would show up first thing in the morning, in fact before 9 am. Saturday morning, 9 am passed and no word from Thomas. I called and texted him but no response. I called the office and Emma was nice enough to set up another person to come out. Around noon Thomas calls my cell phone saying he cancelled that and he wasn't gonna let anyone do his warranty work. He was running several hours behind though. At that point I said no, you failed to call or text me after multiple promises and putting me off all week. He then hung up on me. Wow, unprofessional. The guy was a total B.S.'er. At one point at the initial visit he said he and his roofer buddy had worked together for over 10 years. When I asked the guy when they were separated he said they worked together for about 2 years. My impression is that is Thomas being Thomas. I think Findlay is a good company and feel they will take care of the issue. But, I will not work with Thomas again.

Description of Work: Findlay replaced my roof in 2006. I have recently discovered 3 leaks. I left a voicemail a few weeks ago, and an email over the weekend. I know the 10 year warranty has expired, but I just wanted an estimate to repair the leaks, since they replaced the roof. They evidently didn't want my business. Their #1 competitor has already returned my call and scheduled an estimate. You snooze you lose.

HAD SEVERE LEAKING DURING HEAVY RAINS AND SUSPECTED MAJOR ROOF PROBLEMS - POSSIBLY ROOF REPLACEMENT. FINDLAY WAS SUPER RESPONSIVE AND JERRY CAME OUT TO INSPECT WITHIN 24 HOURS. JERRY FOUND NO MAJOR ROOF PROBLEMS BUT SOME VERY BAD CONDITIONS AROUND HVAC STACK AND SEWER VENT PIPE. WE AGREED ON THE PRICE AND REPAIRMEN WERE THERE WITHIN 48 HOURS TO EFFECT THE REPAIRS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE HAVE USED FINDLAY ROOFING. THEY ARE EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE AND DO GREAT WORK.

THE REP DID NOT ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE SKYLIGHT I NEEDED REPLACED, AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE THAT INCLUDED THE WRONG SIZE SKYLIGHT. I WORRIED THAT THIS WOULD AFFECT THE FINAL ESTIMATE. HE WAS VERY NICE, AND IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD COMPANY, BUT I DECIDED TO GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. IN COMPARING THEIR MATERIALS WITH ANOTHER COMPANY, FINDLAY'S QUALITY OF PRODUCTS SEEMED TO BE LOWER, BUT THE COST WOULD BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER.

FINDLAY REP. SET UP AN END OF DAY ATTEMPT TO ASSESS MY ROOF & GET A BID. I TOOK OFF WORK EARLY FOR THIS. THE APPOINTMENT TIME CAME AND WENT. CLOSE TO AN HOUR AFTER THE FACT, A MESSAGE WAS LEFT ON MY VOICEMAIL BY FINDLAY REP. WHY HE COULDN'T CALL EARLIER. AT MINIMUM BY THE TIME OF THE APPOINTMENT VIOLATES COMMON DECENCY, MUCH LESS GOOD BUSINESS & CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'LL TAKE THIS AS A BAD OMEN AND MOVE ON.

IT WAS ALSO COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR OUR REPRESENTATIVE TO NOT CALL THE MEMBER UNTIL AFTER THE SET APPOINTMENT TIME. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING COURTEOUS. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS NO WAY FOR US TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE OR MAKE IT UP TO THE MEMBER, BUT I DID WANT HIM TO KNOW THAT HIS OPINION WAS HEARD AND IS IMPORTANT TO ME. SO AGAIN, I AM SORRY.

I WAS VERY PLEASED. THE SECRETARIES COMMUNICATION WAS POOR - NOT RETURNING CALLS, DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I WAS SCHEDULED, ETC. ORIGINALLY THEY TOLD ME 30 DAYS TO SCHED, BUT I HAVE LEAKS AND I CALLED TO TRY AND IMPROVE DATE. THEY SCHED ME THE NEXT DAY!! AND I ONLY FOUND THIS OUT WHEN THEY DROPPED THE SHINGLES OFF THAT MORNING!! BUT I WOULD RATHER THAT BE THE WORST EXPERIENCE, AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT. ALSO GOOD AT NOT SELLING ME SOMETHING I DIDN'T NEED, SO KEPT THE COSTS DOWN.
Description of Work: NEEDED NEW ROOF - USED OWENS CORNING - SUPREME AR, 10 YR LABOR WARRANTY - PAID $350 EXTRA FOR 25 YR MANUFACTURE/MILDEW RESISTANT SHINGLES. COMPLETELY TOOK OFF EXISTING ROOF IN 4 HRS, AND REPLACED THE NEW ROOF THE NEXT DAY, WITH GARAGE ON A DIFF DAY. CLEANED UP VERY WELL. I HAVE LOTS OF PLANTS AROUND THE HOUSE, AND NOTHING DAMAGED. WORKERS WERE VERY CONSIDERATE. SELECTED THEM BASED ON MED PRICE (NOT LOWEST), BUT SEEMED MOST PROFESSIONAL, ETC.

I TOLD THE MAN WHO DID THE ESTIMATE THAT I DID NOT WANT THE JOB DONE IN COLD WEATHER. WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS, TWO MEN CAME AND DID THE WORK BEFORE THE WEATHER TURNED COLD AGAIN.

THE COMPANY DELIVERED THE DUMPSTER AND MATERIAL WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THE CREW ARRIVED PROMPTLY AND WORKED DILIGENTLY UNTIL THE JOB WAS COMPLETE. THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS AND CLEANED UP NICELY.
