If you wonder who pays for "Roof Roof" cute bulldog signs on the Interstate and all their radio ads, wonder no more. Findlay is WAY over-priced.
Description of Work: Got a quote from Findlay for replacement of all gutters. They did not return the estimate when they said they would (I had to email and ask for the estimate again). Their price was twice as high as other estimates. I went with Gutter Creations, Inc. and they did an excellent job. Before you use Findlay, get several estimates. Their prices are WAY too high.

Findlay Roofing was very easy to work with. I called them to get a quote after seeing a coupon on Angie's List. Jason called to say he was in the neighborhood and could stop by early if i was okay with it. I was and he stopped by, wrote up a quote and called me back to tell me about it and also sent an email with the quote. We talked a little bit about different options and price and we settled on a very reasonable price. I wasn't ready to do the work right away and Jason was fine with that. There was no pressure at all to do the work now. I emailed him back about 2 months later and said I was ready. They were out at my house 2 days later and did the work quickly and cleanly.
Description of Work: Replaced roughly 105' of rusted out gutters with brand new gutters including Gutter Guard protectors.

I did not use this contractor because the price was way out of line. Comparing apples to apples Findlay Roofing was 88% higher cost than two other estimates that were about the same.
Description of Work: 5 hip caps blew off during high wind.I had the 5 hip caps replaced, all vent pipes painted and the chimney cap/shroud painted. I had the painting added because all the roofing companies had minimum charges to do any work.

Sir, Thank you very much for your feedback! It is our goal to make sure that we always provide quality work with competitive pricing. So if we are substantially higher than other companies similar to us in the market - it's definitely something we want to know! I spoke with the tech and reviewed the estimate to determine why his pricing was so different. He felt that the chimney painting was a bit more involved and should be done by painters to get the most professional job. Therefore his quote included 2 site visits - one by a roofer, and one by a painter. Each crew has a minimum charge thus resulting in the higher estimate. I apologize for difference and hope the above explanation offers some explanation as to the price. If you have any other questions - please let us know! Sincerely, Marcella - Findlay Roofing

Findlay Roofing was professional from quoting to clean up. They set up an appointment convenient for me and their rpresentative Chris showed up on time and made recommendations that actually saved me money. I felt good about the company from the first meeting. Once I chose them they were accommodating in setting up a time to perform the reroofing of my house. The crew showed up on time and worked hard throughout the day. I am pleased with every aspect and would highly recommend them to anyone. The work was of the highest quality.

The roof went very well. I was quite pleased. The gutter guards, not so pleased. The two guys they sent made big dents in one of the gutters with the ladder. They tried to repair the damage as much as possible. I did not want them to disassemble our gutters/guards to fix it, but he put some bondo on there and painted over it so that it is barely noticeable that the ladder dents are there. It was better than having to disassemble everything. Compared to the team that was sent down the street and across the street, my gutter team was not as good as they should have been. However, Findley did try to repair the damage. They were concerned about the damage and did a great job with the roof.
Description of Work: They put in a new roof and gutter guards over my existing gutters.

After someone came out to give me an estimate, I hired Findllay to do the gutter replacement. I chose them because of their listing and ratings on Angie's List and because a friend whose husband does commercial construction always uses this company. This is the first time I have had gutters replaced on a house, so I was unprepared for the possibility of a long delay. On the scheduled day, a crew came out After taking down all the gutters, they reported that there was rotten wood that had to be replaced. At first, they said they would send out carpenters that day to replace the rotten wood. Then someone from the office called me back to say that their carpenters were scheduled so tightly that I would have to wait 4 more business days to have the wood replaced because my house would take longer than the window of time they had reserved for the carpenters. Since they cannot put on the new gutters until the wood is changed, they originally told me I would not have gutters on my house for about 7 days, during which thunderstorms were predicted. (The rain was predicted on the first and second days (both weekend) the carpenters could come, so I was skeptical that the work could be done even then). They apologized profusely, said there likely would be no flooding, and that if there was, their insurance would cover it. I found this response unacceptable; if they had informed me at the estimate that I might be left with no gutters whatsoever for 7 days, I would have delayed the job until they could schedule extra time to complete it if there were unexpected problems, or likely hired someone else. My house is big and the gutters are high, but the estimator saw that, knew the age of the house, and he and I discussed the likelihood of rotten wood. He even pointed out rotten wood to me on my neighbor's roof. So i believe the rotten wood, or even the "more than average rotten wood," should have been expected or at least planned for as a contingency. I was very disappointed that Findlay started the job without sufficient crew and time to finish it if there were problems. I tried to work with the supervisor, who told me there was nothing she could do and that there were no carpenters who could come out until 4 more days had passed. After I called Angie's List to get help, I was told I would have to file a report so I gave the report by telephone. The next morning the CEO called me because he had seen the Angie's List report. (I had not yet seen it; it came in my email a day later.) He rescheduled a carpentry crew, and they finished, then the gutter crew came out, and I had new gutters before the forecast rain. I'm grateful that something was done, but I'm very disappointed that I had to speak to a CEO to get the job finished in a timely fashion. The CEO indicated it is typical for houses to be without gutters for several days -- in my case, the company thought 7 days was acceptable until I complained to the highest level. Also, because of the large amount of rotten wood, the total cost was about $2000 more than the original estimate, almost doubling the expected cost. (The wood was obviously rotten, but the estimate, like the scheduling, didn't take into account the large amount of rotten wood that was actually present.) On the other hand, the quality of the work was excellent. My neighbor, who was working in his yard, was very impressed and came over to compliment the gutter crew. The crews were careful and professional. My problem was not with the work, but with the scheduling.
Description of Work: I hired them to do gutter replacement for me. On the first day, they worked about 3 hours to remove the gutters, then told me I would have to wait 4 days to replace rotten wood and about 7 days until the new gutter installation would be finished. During this time, my house would be completely without gutters.

No work was done due to incomplete and undefined estimate
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate to replace siding with Hardi Plank and to do some other repairs where I have rot on dormers and windows, and replace trim with PVC to eliminate future rot. Someone came to do the estimate in a timely manner, but the estimate was 3 sentences and a price. Other companies provided a detailed estimate of 3 pages with each item addressed. I called and asked for the same thing so I could be sure everything I needed was included to make a comparison valid. I was promised the estimate but no one ever gave me one, even after I requested it again. They just ignored me. If they did not want to do the job, that was fine but I expected at least a courtesy call to state that. No work was done because they did not follow-up.

Work was performed in a timely fashion.I had no problem with the price. I did not know I had a problem until recently, 20 months later. I went up into my attic to get something down, and found several places where the workers had stepped on the edge of the decking at the peak of the roof where they were working, and busted through the decking. I called them when I noticed the damage , their response was the warranty is up. They would send an worker out give me an estimate for them to come out and repair what they damaged. This should have been handled when it happened .Not to hope no one notices until a year has passed .If anyone is planning on using this company I suggest you inspect the work top to bottom at time of sale.

The roof appears to be of good quality and we have experienced no problems. The execution, however, left a little to be desired: 1) Work was to start on a Monday, but because of bad weather (no fault of Findlay) was delayed until Wednesday. The job was to take one day -- "day-and-a-half, tops." It actually took almost four days, from Wednesday until Saturday. A large crew showed up on Wednesday and got smaller each day, thus increasing the time required. 2) The trash skid was delivered on Monday and because of weather delays and slow work, blocked my garage until Saturday. Findlay rep wanted to leave it in my driveway until the following Monday until I insisted they get it out of here as soon as work was completed. 3) I hired Findlay because I required the contractor to provide a "legal" work crew. Company rep said no problem, but I found only one or two people on the crew who responded to questions in English on the first day. By Friday, only one. I chose not to insist on documentation, so I have no way of knowing if the company met that commitment to me. No other contractors would provide a "legal crew" guarantee. I hired Findlay because their quote was a couple of thousand dollars less than the next-lowest bidder and because my insurance company said their proposal was acceptable. I might hire them again, but I would insist on a guarantee on the time required beforehand.

Quoting process entails the ensuring that this is a real project. They will go up on the roof to make an inspection and provide an on the spot quote and provide shingle style and color information. They can schedule the job with 3 days notice. Installation for 2600 s.f. two story home was expected to be 1 day. Because they needed to replace more plywood than expected, job took 1.5 days. They retain all rotted plywood for your inspection to ensure that you are comfortable with what was replaced. They use a trash trailer vs. a bin so there are no scratches or cracks on your driveway/street caused by the weight of the debris in the container. They call you to remind you of install date, they double check the site location, and they call to keep you abreast of the progress of the job. They can work fast because they used a 12 man crew who worked together regularly vs. temporary labor. Crew chief had 10 years+ experience. There is a lot of debris with this type of project and their clean-up was very thorough.
Description of Work: Findlay handled a reroof of a 23 year old house. Very professional in their approach from quoting, to scheduling, to speed of installation, to site cleanup. They were also very helpful in working with my insurance company regarding a wind/hail damage claim. They were first rate and I would highly recommend them. Key contact for me was Alex Tymchuk.

The company had a crew of 13 working on the roof for several days, arriving at 8am and leaving at 6pm. When additional damage was discovered in the rafters, the Account Exec was quick to make sure it was properly taken care of. The clean up during and following the work was exceptional. There were no nails or other debris left. The Account Exec coordinated all claims with the insurance company, before, during and after the work. We were 100% pleased with the job and would highly recommend them.

From the promptness of getting an estimate to the making the final payment, it was a very pleasant experience. The estimate provided by Tony, was the best in terms of price and product. He advised me on what would look best with my home, the extra features/upgrades that Findlay Roofing would provide along with advise on potential issues I may experience with my insurer. Any question I had was promptly answered, even when Tony was officially off duty. The work crew that installed my roof was courteous and professional and arrived promptly at 8 AM and finished the job in one day. Three days later, I have yet to find a nail, scrap of shingle or any other debris left behind. I'm sorry I can't remember my crew's point man, but he was very nice and professional. Even the payment process was smooth and easy. I was very pleased with their service and I'm going to recommend them to my mother to have her roof replaced.
Description of Work: Findlay Roofing replaced the roof on my home.
