Initially, we didn't connect because some contact information here was no longer accurate. We overcame that within a few days and they were perfection in dealing with going forward. They'd have been done much sooner if we'd had more cooperative weather, but when they got some clear days, they jumped into action and did a fantastic job. They dropped a dumpster in the driveway the evening before the roof was to be stripped, and early the next morning they were on site to begin work. I paid a couple of visits during the day to see how things were going. By the end of the day, the new roof was in place. A few days later, the gutter crew arrived and their performance was likewise, resulting in a very happy home owner.
Description of Work: They stripped off the old roof, replaced rotten decking, and put on a new roof. Then another crew came in a few days later and installed new gutters & downspouts.

I emailed, they emailed their excessive "minimum" charge, I responded, there was no willingness to work with me, i.e., work on my small project whenever they are already in my Buckhead neighborhood.

Ms. [Member Name Removed] -- I'm sorry you felt our minimum charge was too high for the work you wanted to have completed. Sometimes we just aren't the best fit and that's why we try our best to communicate this ahead of time and waste as little of your time as possible. Being a larger company, we lack some of the agility that a handyman or a smaller entity could provide. Being a bigger company also means we can offer some of the most competitive pricing on larger projects and full replacements. There's a fit for everyone--and everyone project-- and we hope you're able to find the help you need. Thank you for your feedback! Tony, VP

We were very happy with the job that Findlay Roofing did on our house. Chris came out to give us an estimate within a few days of our call.. He went up on the roof, took pictures of areas of concern and gave us an excellent presentation. He explained what work needed to be done and how they would do it. Chris emailed the quote to us in short order. Findlay emailed us a list of customers so we could do a drive by to see their work and pick a shingle color. We signed the contract with them and got an install date.. The shingles and dumpster were delivered in advance so once the work could begin there was no holdup waiting for them to be delivered. The crew showed up at 7:30 each morning and worked until dark with only a few breaks. Our roof was completed in 3 full days since we have a lot of detail that had to be custom fitted. At the end of the job we went out to look for nails, screws, bits of metal etc. before we moved the car back in the driveway. We checked the yard too so the dogs wouldn't cut a paw. We were amazed--we did not find a thing to pick up. We have had roofs replaced before and never had such a complete clean up. Why did we pick Findlay over the other companies that gave us estimates? Their attention to detail during the initial contact gave us confidence that they would do a good job. Their prompt response to any concern we had was great. They are a highly rated on Angie's. List as well as other sites and they are local, We live only a few miles from their office and see their signs all over the place. The quote was the lowest for the same work. the other companies we contacted were also highly rated. One gave us almost identical info about what needed to be done but were several thousand dollars more. Another company didn't even mention the roof issues and how to fix them, they just gave us an est. for a few thousand dollars more, We weren't sure they would do all the work that needed to be done. our previous roofing company is not as highly rated on Angie's List but we gave them a call anyway. Once they found out that the roof was 16 years and still had their warranty they blew us off.
Description of Work: We had Findlay Roofing remove our 16 year old roof, replace some decking and install a new vent fan and total roof

Although we were held up because of rain, we finally got the roof on. It was done in a fast, professional way. They worked long hours because they were a week behind because of the rain. Matt, who gave me the estimate was well prepared when he first arrived with his insurance papers, samples and conditions. I am very satisfied with their work.

We had a new roof installed 2 years back by Findley and we are completely satisfied. They did a top notch job. They even made a correction to the roof contour that was not contracted and at no added cost, but a big improvement. So when we decided to have new gutters installed, Findley seemed like a good bet from previous experience. The sales person seemed quite knowledgeable, and their price fair. The problem is that they do not do the gutter work themselves; they use a subcontractor and our experience here was not quite so good. Unfortunately I cannot say they are better or worse than other suppliers since we've no basis for comparison. When we asked them to come back to check on drainage slopes and shingle damage, they indicated that the slope was fine and that the water puddling would quickly evaporate. But I could not steer the conversation to the issue with the shingle damage, which was pretty bad at one spot. (I have subsequently made some repairs myself.) Some of the downspout attachments are faulty also, which is fairly minor since other attachment points seem to be adequate, but says something about attention to detail.

Very pleased with new roof. The original roof was installed ~1994. Roof replaced due to age and poor condition. Findlay removed existing power vent fans. Ridge vents installed. The old roof had many undulations.... when the shingles were removed we found out why. The builder had used molded and rotten plywood that was turned face down so that it was not noticeable when the felt and shingles were put down. Findlay rep Chris Stull sold us on the roofing job. We had four quotes, all were similar in price. Our decision to go with Findlay was a) Owens Corning reputation and b) Findlay Roofing reputation and reviews. Roofing crew did a fine job with installation and clean up. Hopefully we won't need another roof anytime soon but if we do we would certainly use Findlay again.

They did not replace the wet installation before they laid the roof. They did not install the double felt or ice and water shield with the True Definition shingles. This caused a lot of damage. I had to have the Roof redone by another Service Provider. I do not recommend this Service Provider. I am a senior citizen and thought I was picking a reputable company and have to go through having to fix and put another roof.

Hi [Member Name Removed]-- I handled your account directly. The insulation in question was not wet, but had a previous leak, which did not compromise the effectiveness of the insulation behind your dormer wall. Frankly I was a little hesitant is using a company big enough to advertise frequently on WSB. I thought they would be over priced and provide mediocre service. Fortunately, I contacted Findlay because I had in-laws who used them and were happy. The work, the professionalism and price were all top notch. They also were a big help with our insurance company. Impressively run company and highly recommended.

Findlay Roofing provided excellent service and outstanding quality of work. We highly recommend this company. As recommended by the company, we also recommend that you drive around to nearby houses that have installed a Findlay Roofing roof prior to picking out your roof color. Findlay Roofing will give you a list of nearby houses by roof color for your convenience. The roof color on a small pamphlet looks a little different on a large scale house. We actually changed our mind on color once we drove around looking at roofs and are very happy with the color we picked.

110% pleased with service. The crew arrived promptly at 7:00 and worked very hard for 12 hours with a short break for lunch (which they brought and ate on location). They were polite and knowledgeable- and amazing as the temperature was 93 degrees and very high humidity! When they were done, they cleaned everything so that you would not know they had been there. Very nice looking job and professionally handled.

The crew showed up on time and performed a great job. It was completed in one day. They cleaned up and the roof looks great. I would use Findlay and recommend Findlay again. Thank you

Bottom line, Findlay Roofing mis-diagnosed the original leak, then blamed the problem on non-related part of the roof (which was later verified by their own people), then blamed it on flashing that they should have fixed in the first place. Findlay Roofing will not stand behind their work and will ?fire? you as a customer if you try to hold them accountable. I see from the other reviews that they have a lot of positives, but if you read those, the homeowners didn't have major issues with the work ? if you use them, hope that all goes well in the initial repair, because they will not make it right if they make major mistakes. Update 5/19/2015: Response to Provider comments I do not understand how this could be characterized as a "stalemate" The issue is clear and uncomplicated - $3000 was paid to Findlay to fix a leaking roof. They refused to fix the roof even though it was shown that the roof in the repaired area was continuing to leak, instead blaming the issue on another part of the roof, the skylights, that was proven by their own people to not be part of the problem. I'm not sure how the other comments in the company response are relevant, but here is my point by point rebuttal to the company's response (This is all provable via documentation if necessary.): 1. The work, while paid by the previous homeowner, was as a direct result of a leak identified by the inspector as part of the home buying process. 2. We did not refuse the water test at any time, nor did we refuse to look at any proposal. On the contrary, it took multiple requests over a period of months to get them to provide any documentation of any sort. 3. They initially offered to replace the roof work but insisted that we replace the skylights at an additional cost of $1600 as a condition of doing that work. We kept insisting that the skylights were not the problem since the stains were higher on the roof than the skylights. Only after significant back and forth did they offer to do a water test. The water test later proved that the skylights were not the cause of the leak. 4. At no time was anyone ever belligerent with Findlay personnel. I simply informed them in a level tone that I would be holding them accountable to fix the roof leak they were originally paid $3000 to fix and this could include legal action if necessary. We also rejected their assertions continuing to blame the skylights, which the technician attempted to frame as an affront to their expertise in roofing keep in mind that the water test indicated had nothing to do with the problem and the technician was completely wrong. There were no insults, yelling, personal attacks or other unprofessional behavior involved of any kind. 5. They continued to say that they weren't responsible because of their agreement with the previous homeowner. This agreement, as written on the invoice, only related to not being responsible for leaking related to the skylights, period. As the skylights were subsequently proven to be not part of the problem, this argument is null and void. 6. As Findlay validated in their response, they finally identified the cause of the leak as the connection between the roof and the wall. This clearly shows that they did not adequately address the roof problems in the initial work.
Description of Work: Contracted to repair leaks in sunroom. Findlay Roofing was hired to repair several minor leaks when we purchased our home last summer. Immediately upon moving in, we noticed that the roof where they had done the work was still leaking. After several attempts to contact them they finally sent someone out to look at the roof and told us that the problem was with skylights. They offered to replace the roof over the sun-room, but refused to do the work unless we paid around $2000 additional to have them replace the skylights, even though the water spots clearly were not from the skylights. After several more back and forth attempts at communication where they either didn't respond at all or took weeks to respond, they finally sent someone out to do a water test, which ended up proving that as we said the skylights were not leaking and that in fact the source of the leak was another part of the roof. We asked them to provide a statement for what they would or would not cover to make good on the original work, and the technician said they would and would get back to us. After not hearing anything for nearly two weeks, we contacted the office manager, Marcella Radtke, who blamed the problem on some flashing and told us that not only were they going to not fix the leak, but that they would not do any work for us in the future. This back and forth went on for more than 6 months total and the excuses, deceptions and unprofessional treatment are some of the worst I’ve ever experienced as a homeowner.

Response from Findlay Roofing Inc
Dear Reader - Unfortunately the above statements are partial and do not explain the whole story. The homeowner did not mention that she bought the home from someone else - and that the previous owner is who contracted us to make the repairs. The previous owner asked for only a certain scope of work to be completed even though she was notified in writing that there were definitely other issues. We completed minimal repairs per the previous owner's request and stated in writing that we would not be responsible for anything other than the completed work. When the new homeowner called us back because the area was leaking, we did have to go thru a few visits because we were unable to tell exactly what else was leaking. The homeowner refused a water test so the only thing we could do was wrap the skylights and wait for rain which took several months. When it continued to leak we were finally allowed to water test, and were able to prove that water was coming in at the wall. We did not perform unnecessary repairs nor did we misdiagnose any issues. We informed the previous owner that likely other areas were leaking. We confirmed that the scope of work we were authorized to do - is in fact no longer leaking. We chose not to estimate any further repairs for this homeowner because of the way they responded when we tried to explain to them what the agreement with the previous owner was. They insisted we were responsible no matter what the issue was, became belligerent with the QC manager on site, and refused to even look at the proposal given to the previous owner - until after our last visit. We felt it was best to part ways with this particular homeowner and informed them that although we would be unable to provide any further estimates, that they please let us know if they needed any documentation for past work or findings. I do regret we were unable to satisfy this homeowner, but do not feel we were negligent in any manner.

I was underwhelmed with Findlay Roofing. It's a surprise since I used them once before several years ago and had a good experience. I set an appointment to inspect a leak near an upstairs bedroom window (likely caused by a roof issue immediately above the window). The first person I was scheduled to meet with never showed. No call. No explanation. Never came. I called Findlay, who apologized. I decided to give them a 2nd chance (given my positive experience several years ago) and scheduled a new appointment. The contact came out on time and inspected. He gave me a fair quote for the isolated issue/work but then explained that my roofing shingles generally showed some possible damage, so perhaps we should work with insurance company to see if a full roof replacement made sense. Insurance company inspected and disagreed. My contact has since gone radio silent. A month has passed and despite my efforts to contact him to remediate the isolated issue which I'm fully prepared to come out of pocket for, he remains nresponsive. Not really sure what happened. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience.
Description of Work: Consulted with provider on upstairs bedroom leak through window. Determination was roof issue immediately above the window. Services were never rendered since contractor has been unresponsive.

Findlay was excellent to deal with from the beginning of the project to the end. They were very patient and helpful in selecting the appropriate shingles. Their price was the best of several estimates. They were on time, efficient and worked quickly. They cleaned up afterwards leaving the area very clean. Some of the hardy board was damaged during the roofing process. They repaired and/or replaced it in a very professional manner. We were very satisfied with Findlay and would certainly use them again.
