"I really enjoy working with you. I really felt like we clicked and worked well together. I look forward to working with you in the future."
I wondered whether I could afford to hire Mary Jo Cooper, but as it turned out, I couldn’t afford NOT to hire her.
I was in a serious bind with my home. The housing market for my area had not yet recovered, and while my mortgage was not underwater, the current value of my home was still tens of thousands of dollars under what I had paid almost 15 years ago. Then, to compound the problem, my home was damaged and required extensive repair. Oh, and, did I mention that I needed to sell my home within the next year?
I was overwhelmed trying to determine what needed to be done in order to repair my home and renovate for sale, but still minimize further financial loss. So, I called Mary Jo.
Mary Jo had requested that I complete an assessment prior to her visit so that she was prepared to meet my needs. From the moment she arrived, Mary’s ideas and recommendations flowed at about 25 per minute. I was taking notes as quickly as possible, but barely kept up. I quickly learned that much of the task list that I had established for preparing my home for sale was misguided. Mary Jo suggested many far less expensive ways of updating my house for the younger and trendier demographic that is purchasing in my area. What I truly loved about her style was that she is very specific. She didn’t suggest color families for paint – she provided manufacturers and precise paint codes. She didn’t tiptoe when my ideas didn’t work – she quickly indicated that they wouldn’t meet my objectives and recommended alternatives. By the time Mary Jo left, I felt that I had a quite workable plan of action established.
And then, things changed. The timetable for selling my house was extended by several years. While I was quite happy with the plan we’d developed for selling, now that I'd be here longer, I wanted to modify the plan to better fit my style and taste while keeping the style within the taste parameters of the future purchasers, as well. So, I called Mary Jo again.
Round two was even better than the initial visit. (I think that I failed to mention earlier that even though Mary Jo is focused on meeting your objectives, she is also fun!) We’d covered a number of things in the first visit that didn’t need to be changed, so with this visit, we came up with a new wall and flooring plan, vetted my bathroom tile schemes, determined how to update my existing furniture, selected upholstery fabrics and discussed accessories/art.
I received so much more value from Mary Jo than I ever expected. Her advice saved me from spending thousands of dollars that would not provide the return that I hoped to receive. And even more importantly, for the first time in years, I am excited about my home again. I’ve begun to implement our plan and can’t wait to see the final product! Thank you, Mary Jo!
"Thank you for this awesome review. I look forward to working with you on your projects and turning your dreams into a reality."

"Thanks so much for your review. I’m so glad I was able to assist you with your interior design projects!"
"I appreciate your constructive comments, and I’m glad you were able to find what you wanted from a local shop. I’m not sure why you gave me an overall C rating, since I provided you with a professional 2 hour design consult. At the consult we selected several different lighting fixtures, which you liked at the time. You wanted to look at more choices on your own, with your husband. You subsequently requested more information on additional light fixture selections. My assistant promptly provided you with 10 lighting fixture prices, at a discounted rate off of MSRP. My initial consult at $125 for 2 hours is half of the industry standards. Additionally we covered other topics during the lighting consult. I would appreciate your considering changing my rating."
"Thank you for your comments. I’m so glad I was able to provide you with the help and information you needed for your Kitchen and Bath spaces."

"Thank you for your kind review. Good Luck with your basement project."
We had just completed our master bath renovation with a very modern style in contrast to the rest of the house which is traditional. Our concern was that the bathroom now looked out of place, so we were looking for advice on paint and carpet options to make the rest of the house more transitional than traditional. Mary Jo delivered and then some. We picked paint colors for every room in the house, received advice on our wood floors, window treatments, furniture, lighting and carpeting. She listened carefully to our thoughts and opinions and incorporated them into her recommendations. Most importantly she was not afraid to tell us what would not work!
There was no upsell, no bait and switch, no pressure whatsoever to use any of the manufacturers that she has an established relationship with. Only a request that if and when we are ready that she be afforded the opportunity to quote.
Since then we have completed painting most of the rooms. The results are amazing and we are not done yet. Mary Jo not only provides great advice and ideas but it becomes apparent as the consultation goes on that she is a genuine down to earth really nice person.
One tip is to use a voice recorder, we played it back a few times later and would have forgotten a lot of information that proved useful down the line. We highly recommend her, even if you think you know what you are doing!!
"WOW, I really appreciate your positive review!!! I am so glad that you were able to disseminate, and incorporate the ideas and suggestions that we covered in your consultation. It is so refreshing to be appreciated for my knowledge and work that I bring to my clients. Another aspect of this successful consultation, was your level of involvement and participation."
"Thank you for your kind review. I appreciate your comments, and I enjoyed meeting with you."
She spent so much time/patience with me looking at fabrics and furniture. Her recommendations were spot on. I love our new room. When she delivered furniture, she vacuumed the new rug and even re-arranged my existing knickknacks. She is a very talented designer and a pleasure to work with.
"Thank you for the positive review, and for the referral! Referrals and repeat business are the highest compliment any service provider could ever ask for. I enjoyed working with you! You were quick to make decisions on my recommendations. I knew that I would enjoy working with you."

"Thank you for the positive review. I enjoyed meeting with you. When you decide to move forward on your kitchen project, I would love to help you with the final layout and selections."
While she offers complete services, and I took advantage of most of the applicable ones, she did not seem unhappy when I selected a painter that does not work with her. That was a very good sign as far as I am concerned. (After meeting with her painter, I thought he was well qualified, but based on price and recommendations about a painter in my area, I used him instead.)
We went back-and-forth about design for window treatments for three areas that had quite different needs (one full window, one window in outside door, and one small window over sink). We also changed paint colors several times so as to find just the right shades, given light, design preferences, and other factors. She was always willing to come up with additional suggestions and has a great sense of color.
I had hoped to finish everything for much less than this all wound up costing, but based on previous experience, I think Mary Jo's prices are likely in line with others and she offers good quality materials, service, and ideas. We probably could have cut a few corners with prices of various things had that been essential.
All of the major tasks are now finished and the kitchen looks great! So much more light -- so much fresher looking -- makes me happy when I walk in the door! Thanks, Mary Jo!
"Thanks so much for your positive review. We enjoyed working with you as well. It was our pleasure to assist you with your drapery and lighting and cabinet hardware for your newly renovated kitchen. Glad you're enjoying everything!"
