I contacted this company using their online scheduling to perform service on my air conditioner. My initial appointment was rescheduled since I was unable to reach someone when I attempted to return the call to confirm. We played phone tag.
I again used the online form again to schedule another appointment on Monday. I received a call back to "confirm" the appointment and again tried to reach the office but only reached someone who takes a message and you have to wait for a return call. Well, when I finally received the return call, I was told that you don't actually schedule an appointment on line, that is just a form to send an email requesting an appointment. I was then told that the company had no availability for over a week, Wednesday, to check my AC unit. To make the situation more confusing, I received a message today indicating that I could have an appointment if I was able to call and confirm within one hour. This call came in during the middle of the workday and I did not receive the message until several hours later. Well, I later received a message from a technician indicating that he was at my house! When I called the office, I was told that I missed my appointment and that the next appointment was next Thursday (today is Wednesday). Until this company resolves its customer service and phone issues, I will not use them or recommend them to anyone else.
morning. After a courtesy call that tech was on his way, young man
arrived and promptly took a look at the work to be performed. He was
professional and friendly and told me he could do the work immediately.
He gave me a quote, which I thought was a little high but, after some
discussion, we came to an agreement. True to his word, he was finished
in about an hour and cleaned everything up nicely.

The installation (which is in the crawl space of my house with an outside compressor unit) was performed by two technicians and took about 8-10 hours. The technicians arrived on time and worked almost continuously until the job was completed. They were polite, knowledgeable and professional. They answered all of my questions and gave me instructions on how to operate the new system. They removed every scrap of debris including the old hardware and all of the packaging from the new system.
I am delighted with the new system (manufactured by Trane) and was pleased with all of the people I dealt with from the person who answered the phone to the installers.
Casteel may not be the least expensive HVAC supplier in the area, but their price was within reason, the product is first rate and the service was outstanding.
Aside from the pain of parting with $5000 it was a pleasant experience from start to finish.
The good news is that they installed good equipment that worked as advised.
But they also falsified the final inspection report (by a person who never visited the house, using pictures from before the
installation), failed to get a county inspection, ruined a ceiling and a wall, and stopped taking my calls, inexplicably. I have to assume that the failure to get a county inspection means:
1) They failed to do something they should have; or
2) They did not do something they should haven?t; or
3) They did not care enough about the regulations to bother.
Perhaps I will never know the real reason. The first time I heard from them was
for the semi-annual check up six months later. Not a chance will they ever step
foot in my house again.
