"A coworker needed some welding work done, and had a guy sent over. He came over while I was at his house and was able to see him in action cutting and welding a custom table frame. Very polite and professional, he worked diligently and skillfully until the job was done. Great quality work for an affordable cost. The next time I need any welding or torching work done, I have got his card. Preciate the educational evening, Mr. Devoss."

"Mr. Hightower and his crew did an excellent job grading our back yard after we had a whole section of trees removed. He even came back after the dirt dried to finish smoothing it out, so it would lay right. Super happy with the fair price, hard work, and attention to detail! I would definitely use them again and recommend them :)"

"Michael is very friendly and very knowledgeable. I was researching a few engineer firms for a foundation inspection and he called me after I put my info on Angi. His fee was right in line with (if not a little less than) the vast majority of other firms I was looking at. The kicker for me was that he was able to put me on his schedule very quickly which worked out great as I was in a big hurry to get this inspection completed. Communication was at times a little sparse/delayed (likely because he's keeping very busy) and that is the only reason I did not give it the full five stars. Would definitely recommend and hire Michael again."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500
