Once we determined our pet needed some medical assistance from a punture wound that was bleeding fairly substantially, we checked the Yellow pages for the closest vet clinic that wasn't an animal shelter, and ran across Animal Medical Care in Gainesville. They encouraged us to come in immediately, and made sure a vet was available as soon as we arrived. Everyone was cheerful and professional, and all had good animal skills. They suggested (if we didn't want to stay around and watch) that we return in about 40 minutes, as they planned to sedate our dog a bit in order to clean out the wound, install a drain and throw in a stitch. We returned to find our dog a little woozy but all ready to go. They had taken care of everything as they had promised, and further recommended a flea control regimen that we needed to control possible flea infestation. The facility was clean and smelled clean as well, and they also offered to take a look at our dog in a few days for free if we cared to bring her by -- an offer we had to take them up on, since 3 days later she managed to chew the stitch out, and we wanted to see what to do. Again, a vet was made available quickly, took a look, and recommended simply keeping it clean and occasionally putting on some antibiotic cream, rather than re-stitching. We did that, and she was still limping after finishing the antibiotic pill regiman they had recommended for her. We took her in a third time, and again, for free, they determined that it would probably be a good idea to renew the antibiotic treatment, which we did. That took care of the problem, and she's now fine. Given that this dog is part Lab, and therefore hyper, I was surprised that she actually healed as quickly as she did, given that she wasn't supposed to be jumping around (but try telling that to a Lab). We feel confident that this clinic will be able to handle whatever we need them for in future, and would recommend them to any pet owners in the area.
