I made an appointment, but they came out quickly and did it. I found them on Angie’s List. They were very good and I didn’t have any complaints. They did a very good job. I had a neighbor that worked for Shumate and I liked him. He was an honest guy. Then I read the reviews and Shumate had very positive ratings. So, I gave them a call and I was very pleased. I saw that Angie’s List had a very positive feedback. I spent about $1400 for their services. Before installing the furnace, they came out and put in some parts, but things were wrong with it. So, they ended up putting in a whole new furnace for me. They were very easy to work with. They were fast while doing everything and they were very responsive.

Everything worked out just fine and I am extremely satisfied with the service I received.

They installed the heating and air conditioning when my house was constructed, and they’ve been servicing it ever since. I’ve been pleased. We've had no trouble with the system. When it was determined that we needed a new system, they installed it. The work was done very satisfactory, and the system they installed reduced our operating costs.

Their pricing is reasonable. They send reminders; they are very timely and responsive. They are professional and do excellent maintenance work. They don’t push you into things you don’t need, they are very honest.

It went very well. I liked that they were prompt. The weather was hot and they showed up the next morning after I called. Within 15 minutes they were able to fix the problem. I went outside with him to see the problem. I have recommended them and will use them again in the future.

Actually first called Shumate Aug. 19, 2011, when our air conditioner stopped cooling the night before. It was a Friday and I'd already accepted that we'd be having a very warm weekend before the A/C was fixed, but was pleasantly surprised when the company was able to send someone out that same day. The technician quickly determined the problem and fixed it. He also strongly suggested we purchase a service contract. The contract was reasonably priced and since our HVAC unit was 10 years old I figured it was a wise to purchase it -- especially when the unit had been neglected for much of those 10 years, I'm embarrassed to say. The first of the twice-yearly check-ups under the contract was performed Sept. 15, 2011, in which the HVAC was inspected, the filter changed and recommendations made for replacing worn out parts. The only (minor) issue I had with Shumate was with the technician, Mike, who did the work in both instances. He is very good with HVAC units but he could stand to improve on his people skills. My partner and I dealt with him separately (me on Aug. 19; my partner on Sept. 15) and we both found him brusque -- borderline rude in a couple instances -- with a tendency to lecture. Personalities aside, I'd recommend Shumate for its quick response, efficient handling of repairs, and reasonable rates.

It went very well and Michael Winfrey was very professional, gave me his assessment of both AC/Furnace units and answered all of my questions.

Did not contact me in time, so had another company perform service.  This was service that was needed immediately.  Did not receive a call until 24 hours after submission of email request.  Could get to us until Tuesday, so we would have been out of A/C for two days.

Our A/C went out over the weekend while we were away.  We called Shumate this morning, and they offered to have somebody out that morning.  Unfortunately, neither one of us could be there in the morning, so we requested afternoon service.  Mike showed up around 6pm and quickly diagnosed the basic problem as well pointing out additional service we will need to do in the near future.  Mike was great, and had our A/C up and running in about an hour.

The service was performed in a timely and efficient manner.   The technician was thorough and immediately diagnosed the problem(s).  Since the service, the unit is cooling better than I've known since I've been in the house.

It was a good experience. Overall, the person who came out was a good technician, and he was very personable. Their price was good. I would rate them highly.

I was able to locate an excellent AC company through the use of Angie's list.  After reading the reviews and viewing the rating, I contacted Shumate and informed them of the work that I felt was needed and that I was interested in a maintenance agreement.  The gentleman that I spoke with (he introduced himself) explained that he would have his technician Jimmy Gee to come out at 8AM the next day (we had agreed upon the time). Other than the normal maintenance discussed   I also discussed the need for running a drain line from the condenser drain pipe out into the yard, due to it spilling out onto a patio.   I received two phone calls reminding of the appointment as well.

Jimmy arrived promptly and introduced himself.  He and I discussed the condensing unit drain and alternatives to running additional PVC across the patio to extend the drain.  Jimmy then proceeded to service the heating unit and condensing unit/blower located on the second floor.  He stated that as he inspected and serviced the systems, if he had any recommendations, that I was not required to have him complete any of the recommendations that maybe mentioned.

Jimmy would explain the need to replace any of the items that he felt needed replacing.  He explained their importance in the system(s) and answered all my questions before a decision was made to replace any parts.  He also showed me the testing results and the replaced parts to confirm his findings. 

In the past, I managed the service agreements and maintenance at a business where I was employed.  I can tell you from this excellent experience, that Jimmy conducted himself very professionally and was very particular in the completion of his work and his concern in providing excellent customer service.    His knowledge and willingness to provide a thorough explanation of all of his work was very refreshing. 

I was very pleased with the exceptional promptness and service that was provided.  I am also very happy that I have a maintenance agreement with a company I can depend on.

I continue a yearly contract with this company to maintain the 2 heating and air conditioning units.

 The relationship got off to a rather rocky start. I called on Saturday @ 1:00 pm on July 16th and got voice mail. Left a message that although it was not an emergency yet, both units seemed to have problems cooling the house sufficiently, and I asked for a call-back Monday. No one ever called and both units conked out on Thursday, July 21st @ 8:30 am. I called immediately and got an answer and an appointment was set up with a time window of noon to 6:00 pm on the next day, Friday. The expeditor called at 3:30 pm and the technician arrived at 4:00. The expeditor called again on Thursday, July 28th to arrange the board installation for the next morning. The technician called at 7:30 am on friday to tell me he was on his way. The service work is described above.

Our A/C went out on Saturday during a very hot week. We had no idea who to call, so we signed on to Angie's List. Shumate has a lot of high marks, so we checked out the Shumate website. We left a late night notice on their website, alerting them that we would need service. We left voicemails with 2 other companies and waited to see who could get here first. The local company never called. A second company gave an estimated wait of 1 week. Shumate's scheduler called on Sunday to tell us they would see us Monday after 5 PM. At 5:00 PM on Monday, the scheduler called to advise us that they would be late, but they still planned to show. They were here at 5:39 PM. That's amazingly prompt, isn't it? They were pleasant, efficient and quick - knew just what to look for. They didn't try to sell us on a new unit - just had it done within 20 minutes. We can't praise this service highly enough. These guys work long hours in extreme temperatures. Thanks a million to Shumate.

We returned from vacation only to find our upstairs a/c unit was not cooling.  It was also the hottest week of the summer so far.  I sent an e-mail on Sunday evening asking if someone could come out first thing on Monday to have a look.  We had not used Shumate before, so I was not sure how quickly they would respond.  To our surprise, they sent someone out Monday around lunch time.  They even had a Tuesday afternoon appointment available, however by the time my husband and I spoke about which options to go with, that appointment had been filled.  We were able to get a Wednesday afternoon appointment, however, and we finally had a/c upstairs.  The 2 person team were both very nice - I felt bad for them having to work in such heat upstairs.  It has almost been 2 weeks now, and our unit is running great.  We love the cooling and hopefully the unit will save us money over time, since it is much more energy-efficient than our old unit, which we had for 13 years.   I would recommend this company and I would use them again.  There was a little confusion about the Angie's list coupon that I printed from this website.  The technician did not think it applied to our service performed, but after speaking with a couple of people at the Shumate office, the coupon was applied to our invoice.  Shumate just needs to be sure it is aware of the coupons on Angie's list to make this process a little more clear and hassle-free.

My experience with Shumate Mechanical was very good.....They replaced my downstairs unit last summer so I call them again for the upstairs unit when it went out this summer.   I would recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

Air conditioner quit the day before I had to go out of town and leave a dog-sitter in my house - a Saturday.  Shumate came within an hour!  Diagnosed and fixed the problem within 30 minutes.  Service person even cleaned off outside AC until with a hose and replace my inside filter (for free).  Only downside was that he whole thing was pretty expensive - (almost $350 originally - a $50 Angie's coupon-- for a condenser replacement--higher because it was Saturday).  But if you have to have it fixed, and now, these are the people to call.

They are professtional and on-time. The service is always top-grade. If there is anything that they need to bring to my attention, so that I’m prepared, they point it out and explain it.  If something ever happens, and the work isn’t completely right, they fix it, and they ask me if I’m satisfied; the owner himself would even call to make sure I was satisfied.  The professionalism of the company is what keeps me as their customer.  They are scheduled to come back next week for maintenance. 

They were very professional, and their price was great. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

We scheduled the work for the next week.  The technicians arrived early (7:50am) and worked till around 3:30-4pm.  They did an excellent job and made an uncomfortable day (high 90's) go as smoothly as possible.  The new units are working well and are so quiet I can't tell they're running.

We are very pleased with the service and the product provided.
