The car is a late model prius. We got it checked out and it looked good overall, but the struts/shocks were leaking or had leaded and would need replacement in the next 10-20K miles. We brought this back to the sellers and were able to negotiate repairs.

They were very good about understanding that I didn't want to spend my
money for long term fixes that someone else would benefit from. They
quickly identified the sources of my problems and fixed them the same
day. I was able to make an appointment (which I prefer to dropping of
and hoping they can get to my car that day). I would totally use them
again--now that I know where to find them. They have no visible signs
from the street and their building doesn't look like the typical garage
so we had to drive by a couple of times before we spotted them.

Car seems to be running as good as it was before the problem. I plan to return for future work. They were very professional, not at all pushy and did a fine job.

I did my research here on Angie's List. In fact, I joined Angie's List
to address this specific problem.. Where to find an auto service/mechanic who would do what he/she promised to do, by actually LISTENING to me and my automobile. Well, I found them!! And I have you
folks here at Angie's List to thank. I came this close to keeping my
little secret - I was afraid that telling the world about the only
service center I've EVER visited where I didn't feel ridiculed AND taken
advantage of might result in it being any more time consuming to get a
service appointment. Naively I walked into Quantum Mechanics midday on I
believe it was Tuesday Jul 30th 2013. The young man at the cleanest
mechanics front desk and waiting room I've ever seen, greeted me with a
big welcoming smile. Reluctantly he told me that I was going to have to
make an appointment and asked me the relevant information about my car.
Which, by the way is a 2004 BMW 330i sedan. I was a little surprised
when he suggested an appointment for Friday 8/9/2013; it was 10 days
away! But, I recalled all the other glowing reviews they'd received and
decided too many signs had pointed me this direction to turn back now.
During my conversation I had asked whether someone could read the OBD-II
error codes on my car just to make sure there was nothing I was going
to worsen by waiting that amount of time. I must have misunderstood him,
because I walked out the door thinking I would need to drive somewhere
else because I thought he'd said everyone in the shop was busy - and I
completely understood how they'd be busy in the middle of the morning. I
returned to my car, standing there long enough to take a quick smoke - I never smoke in the car - I know I know, I
should never smoke at all, and I'm working on that. Well, just as I was
finishing up (about five minutes later) another young man who was also
all eager smiles came out with what I knew to be an OBD-II code reader.
We stood there chatting about the computer systems in today's cars for
at least :15 while the OBD-II chomped through the data and he took the time to explain about 5-6 of the most likely
ones to be causing the errors (aka 'Check Engine Lights') my car was
showing. He was very thoughtful in his responses and I drove away a few
minutes later feeling like I had learned a lot from him.
Friday 8/9/2013 I dropped the car off as arranged and about 2-3 hours later I
received a call from the mechanic who was overseeing my repairs. I was
on the phone with him for twenty minutes as he not only explained his
proposed resolution to each of the handful of repair issues I was
knowledgeable enough to list (and trust me, that's not very much)! But
he also listed several others he felt needed to be resolved, presenting
them in a very manageable and welcome list of and quot;Urgentand quot;, and quot; Can Waitand quot;, and
and quot;Think aboutand quot; (or something close to this). It was such an incredibly
refreshing way to have this type of expense presented to you. We agreed
on the services to be completed and he told me would call me around 3:30
- 4:00PM that afternoon.
Promptly at the time he promised I received
a call from and quot;Myand quot; mechanic. He explained what was done, and said he
would really like to have the chance to drive the car a bit on the
following Monday morning. He asked whether keeping the car over the
weekend would place me in any bind (did I have access to transportation,
etc). I told him that this was my only means of mobility and without a
moments hesitation he said that was fine, they had a and quot;shop carand quot; they
kept for situations like this, and and quot;would I mind driving a Prius?and quot; Not at all!
Would I mind being offered free use of a loaner car? Are you kidding
me?! Not only did they loan it, he showed me how to drive it, as it was a
hybrid and they're a little different than the average car on the road.
Monday afternoon I received a call from my mechanic saying everything was
done, he told me the final figure and it matched the price he had
quoted. So I hopped in the little hybrid loaner and went to retrieve my
car. Again I was greeted by the two young men I had met the very first day -
the one who scheduled my appointment and the other young man who
had read the OBD-II error codes. Again they were all smiles and very
helpful. My car had been vacuumed, the exterior cleaned and it felt like
a brand new car - no joke. They had also filled all my tires with air,
and that along with the amazing service and repairs they'd completed
made me feel like I had a brand new ride!
They had not only reset the OBD-II error codes, but they had driven it enough that I was able to
drive right to the Emissions Test station to have THAT item checked off
my list of 'to do's' too! Usually that's something that can take several
days (I'm retired and don't drive nearly as much as I used to).
I can't say enough good things about this business. They have and quot;serviceand quot;
down to a science. It's obvious these guys know what it takes to make an
engine purr. They take the time to get it right. They do the little
things that make you smile, amazed that you can once again say there's a
business out there who is cornering the market on and quot;serviceand quot;.
I've never been happier to give commendation to a company in my life, and I'm
well into my 50's now! Spencer, Aaron, Chris - I know I'm leaving a
name out, and for that I'm truly sorry - THANK YOU for a job WELL DONE!!

They are great. In fact, my car is back over there again. When it was in there the first time the service was excellent. I must say they pick you up, and drop you off to be curtseying door to door service. However, they cannot find anything wrong. Whenever they get it, it will turn over but they do not drive it like I do. They are outstanding. They did not charge me anything for the labor.

Handled my first experience with them very well start to finish. Advised me not to drive the car and instead have it towed in. Fixed all of my problems. Called me throughout the day to update me and advise me on other possible procedures. I decided not to have them fix the moon roof and they were very honest and clear about what they could accomplish. Also went over my bill in detail when I picked the car up. I will definitely use them again.

I had a beat-up minivan that I was using for errands around town. In the space of a month or so, a bunch of noises and other small problems developed with the car. I wasn't sure whether to try to fix any or all of them, so I took the car to Quantum Mechanics. They investigated everything and determined the cause of each of the problems. They informed me that my $2000 car needed $5000+ in repairs (including a new transmission!) That was enough to make me decide to ditch the car. Their diligence saved me hours of time and hundreds of dollars in parts to fix a car that wasn't worth repairing.

My car was due for servicing and I had grown tired of the poor service and high prices I was paying at the dealer. Searched Angie's List and located Quantum Mechanics and gave them a try. Scheduled service via the internet through service advisor John Patterson. Dropped the vehicle off the evening before service was to begin. Shop promptly evaluated the car the following morning as promised and called me to discuss what they found. The servicing they recommended was a little bit more than I thought I would need when I brought the car in, however, John explained what needed to be done and in what order if I wanted to prioritize certain repairs. I didn't feel any pressure to perform any work. I opted to follow the shop's recommendations and am glad I did. The price to replace the tires was quite competitive with local tire shops. To my surprise all of the work was actually completed in one day and I picked up the car the evening after I had dropped it off. I had to make an unexpected road trip this past weekend and put about a 1,000 miles on the car and it ran like a dream. My partner has a newer BMW that we will likely start bringing to Quantum, as well. I have also referred a friend with a 3 Series this week. I have no complaints.

I am pretty happy with them. There is no up sell there and they are very honest. If they do other things while they are doing some job they let me know. They do a good job. They are not the cheapest but I think they are probably the most honest and you get what you pay for. The sometimes take time to finish the work and keep the car for a longer time.

Before I took my car to Quantum Mechanics, I had a diagnostic performed by a well-known big chain auto service company. They charged $95 for the diagnostic. They informed me that a malfunction of my evaporation purge solenoid was causing the "check engine soon" light to come on. They estimated that it would cost $226 to fix it, a total of $321. I took the quote home to think it over. I went on Angie's list and saw the great reports for Quantum so I called and spoke with Jonathon who told me to come on in so they could confirm whether or not my first diagnostic was even right. He gave me a quote to perform a second diagnostic. Then he estimated how much it would cost to fix the solenoid. Well, I went for my appointment. In the end they confirmed that the solenoid did trigger the check engine light, but when they tested the solenoid it was working as it should. Jonathon gave me two choices. I could either let them clear the code to see if it was just a one time fluke or replace the part. I chose to clear the code to wait and see. He charged me $33.99 for the diagnostic, less than he originally quoted. He said it didn't take much time to see what the problem was. Well, the light is off and we'll see. But I appreciated the honesty and the reasonable price. Every employee also exhibited the same level of integrity and professionalism. So I'm grateful. Quantum, keep up the great work. I'll return and I'll recommend you to others!

I've been going to Quantum Mechanics for several years now. I like them because they are extremely bright, honest, and direct talkers and do high-quality work. They are also conveniently located within walking distance of Avondale Marta Station. They are not the cheapest, but they are not as expensive as other mechanics we have tried in the past. This last job was like all the rest. Quick drop off (in an out in about 60 seconds), done when they said it would be done, and have had no problems with the work..

I dropped off my car, and they were able to look at my car sooner than expected. The actual repair was delayed by a delay in parts delivery from Subaru. They apologized for the delay and offered a loaner car (after I had been renting for a few days!). I should have asked about availability of a loaner, and it would have been nice if they had asked me if I needed a vehicle. Anyway, Aaron and Jonathan were great. They kept me in the loop about what was going on at all times. They even rotated my tires for free because I had asked to add that service but they forgot to do it when I came to pick up my car. I will be going back with my other vehicle.

When I decided to take a long trip with my 2005 Lexus, I took it in for an overdue scheduled maintenance. I called and made an appointment, took it in on Thursday am and picked it up that evening. I was a little shocked at the price +$800 but that included 2 new tires, brake pads and some other services.

They could have done what other bad mechanics do and started fixing the vehicle, forcing me to pay a higher price than intended. Although they did not work on the car I have decided that due to their honesty, I will definitely use them again.

Fantastic! These guys are really great. I got the feeling that they all enjoy the work they do so that creates a nice atmosphere for both them and their customers. They took the time to explain what the problem was and how the part that needed replacing operates. The apologized profusely for the problem related to the ignition coil, which in all honesty I don't believe was really their fault. However, they took responsibility for it and that proved to me how professional they are. Because that repair would require keeping the car overnight, they gave me a loaner vehicle. I was not inconvenienced at all. As a new transplant to the area, it's nice to know that I have found professional, competent and trustworthy people to assist with my ageing car.
