GROWING CONCERN

I recently purchased a home that had been vacant from December to May.   I had Growing Concern out to the house on Thursday, May 29th to do an inspection of the yard and an estimate to do the cleanup. It's apprximately 1 acre, overgrown shrubs, tree suckers needing trimming, some old vegetable garden debris needing to be cleaned up.  There was a lot of work, but not massive amounts of trash.  I was very impressed with their knowledge of the plants and shrubs and they gave a lot of advice of what should be removed and what should just be trimmed.  I was thrilled to have found them.  I asked if I should get a dumpster and Rick said "No, we should be able to get this all with the flatbed."  He indicated he would probably use 5 guys and it should be able to be done in one day.  Rick gave me a price of $1200.  Again I asked if he was sure he didn't want me to get a dumpster and he said "No, we can use the flatbed."  He indicated that if I had my Tree Trimmer take care of the front, he could handle all the debris from the back. On Tuesday, June 3rd he called and said I should go ahead and order the dumpster and they would start the work on Thursday of that week.  I told him that the price we agree on was $1200 and if I get a dumpster now, it would add about $300 to the price.  He insisted that I must have misunderstood, or maybe it was the other guy that said we didn't need the dumpster.  Rick agreed that he would go back to the house and reevaluate and call me.  I called Rick on Monday June9th since I didn't hear anything from him and he said that he didn't have time to look at it again, and they've been busy and didn't think they would be able to get to it.  When I asked if he means get to the re-evaluation or get to the job and he sounded very frustrated and said he just couldn't get to it. I assume that means the whole job. And now I'm back to square 1.  I see they haven't made much improvement since their 2012 rating.

I called & left a message for someone to contact me concerning an estimate for yard clean up & followup maintenance.  No one returned my call until almost a week later. I had found someone by then & was not interested.  I will not call again.

Over time they have proven to be much finer quality than I first judged. We are really pleased with these people and they have made a difference in our yard. One very pleasing thing is that they have made changes in the shrubbery in the way it is trimmed and our front yard looks so much better. Everyone is so professional, knowledgeable, and quick to respond.

Everything is going pretty well with them. The only dissatisfaction is that they are a little bit more expensive than most of the companies out here. They are good, but I wouldn?t say that they are that much better than everybody else. They do a nice job and they are nice people. They do what they say they are going to do.

Growing Concern is always prompt and does a great job ensuring the lawn and yard are meticulously cleaned, including porches, walkways and driveways. Prices vary according to the season; while it sometimes feels a bit pricey -- at other times of the year the work seems to be a bargain. Thanks to this company, I feel like I have the best looking yard on the block.

This company has always been very reliable and have done a great job for the past four years. The crew is very nice and on occasion they have gone out of their way for us. Our dogs love to watch them work; it's nice to know that we don't have to worry about our animals around them.

Growing Concern is not cheap, but they do a complete and through job including fertilizing, weeding, pruning, planting annuals in the Spring and preparing beds for the winter. Unlike other firms we have used, they were prompt and regular on the days they arrived. As I say, not inexpensive. We turned our entire yard care over to Rick and the cost probably averaged $250 to $350 a month during the growing season. Visits when they were doing plantings and other labor intensive work could be as much as $400 while a simple cutting, cleaning, and routine maintenance would run around $125. We felt he left us with the best looking yard in the neighborhood and the money was well spent. We stopped using this service a couple of months ago when I retired. I now have more time than money and have taken on the lawn care chores. I would much prefer Growing Concern was still doing the work!
