GCS Spray Foam Insulation

Marc is the owner of the company. He came out to inspect the job to make sure he was clear what we wanted. We needed to foam one room that we took down to the studs during our renovation. (The rest of our house already uses foam insulation.) His helper, Jason, did an excellent job installing the foam insulation. We are very satisfied and would recommend his company to others. We will definitely use them again.

Appeared as if they were high.

They did all the work as expected.  Cleaned up well.  And found a way to spray a problem area that needed it but didn't look possible.  They even cleaned up an area that I did some demo work on without being asked. 
Highly recommend Mike and his crew.  He was quick to give a quote and had the job finished two weeks later. 
Spray foam is worth the investment, an immediate difference is obvious in the way the house feels. 

Michael Gurwitch, sales manager was great from start to finish.  Came out,  knowledgeable, professional and gave me a great price.  Work was scheduled for 6 weeks out and Michael was very flexible.  Excellent work by his crew.  On time, work completed correctly and quickly. Professional from start to finish.  Michael kept me up to date the whole way.  Michael was a pleasure to do business with.  I would highly recommend Michael and GCS to anyone considering spray foam insulation.

The entire process went very well.  Service was timely, quickly completed, clean-up was done well, and the results were above expectations.  Attic space went from 30 degrees minimum in winter to 60 degrees minimum, and from 140 degrees in summer to 80 degrees maximum.  Also, by closing and sealing all openings in attic with foam, stack effect was eliminated which reduced infiltration through walls on the first floor by at least half.  I could not be more pleased with the results.

On the day scheduled for the work the men arrived promptly at 8AM and removed all the old insulation which took a day.  The workers were very thorough and made sure to clean up any residue before they left.  The following day the insulators arrived promptly and sprayed the open cell foam to 5 1/2 inches thick.
Word of caution- It happened that this work was done on one of the colder nights in Georgia.  The fan had to be kept on overnight to help dissipate the fumes.  The first night without insulation was uncomfortable.  I had a space heater by my bed. The second night the fumes were not overwhelming but I slept with an ionizer and the fan going all night.  If there are children in the family you may want to consider spending the night at Grandma's house.
The last step was to provide the HVAC fresh air intake duct and to disenfect and deodorize the attic floor.  This is where time mangement got a little funky.  When Mark, the owner arrived he explained the delay then proceeded to complete the work detailing everything that he was doing and why.  He gave me his undivided attention at the end of the job for any concerns or unanswered questions.

The team came on the day that they were scheduled, and stayed until the job was done. 
They took care to prepare the space, covering window, and openings to the floor below.
We contracted for 3 1/2 in the walls and 5 in the roof, and it was filled to at least that amount, and properly shaved so the sheet rock will install easily.  I wish all of our vendors on this project were this professional and easy to work with.

The whole process went fairly smoothly, the workers were efficient and professional.  They showed up on time and started work.  They finished in 2.5 days and the end result looks good.  

Making all of these improvements have made a huge difference in comforts and utility bills.  We made all of these changes.  Shane worked with us on obtaining about $4000.00 in rebates bringing our total cost under what we budgeted which was about $7K.  In July 2011our electric bill was close to $700.00 for the month.  This July 2012 being the hottest on record our bill was just a little over $300.00.  It was more than a 50% difference.  The house has maintenaned a comfortable level, we continue to see the energy bills drop and the savings add up.  The investment was definitely worth it!!  Shane and his team at GCS knocked it out of the park.  We are extremely thrilled with these results.

Jameson came to my house and rental house to do estimates for Spray foam.  He was very knowledgable and answered all my questions.  Sometimes even late into the evening.  He helped me understand the different types of installations and value including fire suppression.  I was sold.  
Alex (Shooter) and Juan (Support) came to my house on time and ready to work.   You can tell these guys are pro's.  They laid out the planned installation and got started.  My house is a complicated roofline with many turns and twists.  This barely slowed them down.  I can't believe how quickly Alex worked with the Hot Georgia sun beating down on the roof.  It must be 165 degrees up there.  Please be careful of your workers while they are on the Job site.   Bring them lots of ice water.  They will be very greatful.  It is also customary for the shooter to take several breaks to get out of the heat.  Its built into the price of the installation so don't worry.   You want your shooter to have his head clear.  This is very hard work.  Think Gymnast with a Gas Mask.  
Both Alex and Juan were trustworthy and I left them alone in my home.  You don't want to be in the house while they are shooting.  The smell is not good.  Open windows helps remove the fumes.  
I definately noticed how quite the house is to outside noises.  I live on an airport and the airplane noise is definately reduced.  The thermal properties were definately enhanced but it will remain warm in the Attic for a while.  The spray gun puts out a lot of heat and your new thermal barrier will hold onto it until your air conditioner has a chance to get ride of it thru the ceiling.  
Juan cleaned up the house after they were done.  Nice job.  
I would definately use GCS Spray foam again.  I will leave my name and number with Jameson as a reference.   Job well done.  

First and foremost, spray foam insulation is a great idea, and after just a few days we are feeling the difference. Indeed, our HVAC repairman first recommended we try spray foam insulation to help our heating and cooling issues. We chose GCS because of the professionalism of their sales manager, Michael Gurwitch, and their can-do attitude. Our project was extremely difficult, involving some very tight spaces. The spray they used, LaPolla, worked very well and comes highly recommended on the Internet. The real stars were the technicians. The team, led by Joey Henderson and his colleague A.J., was extremely professional and hard-working. A.J. said it when he first arrived - "We'll get 'er done." And they did. It took longer than originally anticipated because of some structural challenges, but it was not because of lack of trying on the team's part! Following their insulation, they also checked the HVAC and made some additional recommendations about things we can do to conserve energy. Overall, I highly recommend GCS.
