Initial interactions with Rodolfo were great because he was very prompt at returning my messages and he had a very pleasant demeanor. His team showed up a little late on the 1st day of the job, but I didn't think much of it. Halfway through the job of cutting down 2 large pines and 1 large sycamore Rodolfo pulls me aside and tells me his team encountered some difficulties with the sycamore and asked me for $200 more due to the added labor and time of his crew. He said it would help his team a lot, but if I wanted to I could keep the initial quote of $3400 (that doesn't include the $200 for someone else to grind the stumps who Rodolfo subcontracted). I was not happy about it, but I agreed to the extra $200 because I figure they'd do a better job if I agreed. At the end of the first day (Friday) he said he had an emergency job the next morning (Saturday), but said he was very likely to be done by noon and would be back at my house in the afternoon. I then texted Rodolfo at 11am on Saturday to confirm his arrival. I got a text saying the tree was big and he'd be at my house on Monday. I'm not sure if that other job was a true emergency or not, but I feel like you need to focus on one job before moving onto another. In any case, no apologies were given by Rodolfo, which increased my frustration with the way things were going. Rodolfo and his crew came Monday and was close to finishing, but some rain held them up. That evening Rodolfo asked for a large payment to help cover expenses as his crew was nearly done. At that point he asked for $3800 of the $4000 that I agreed to earlier. I was very confused what he meant because he asked for $3600 halfway through the job which I agreed to (after the pre-job quote of $3400). He said I heard incorrectly. With a little arguing we settled on me paying $300 more at $3700. This is when I got really upset since I felt like he was taking advantage of my patience. At that moment I told him to please fix the small stone retaining wall before his crew leaves Tuesday afternoon. He told me he warned me before the job started that the yard would suffer some damage. I then corrected him to say he told me my GRASS may suffer some damage, but not the structures in my yard. He agreed to fix the retaining wall at that point. When I got home on Tuesday his crew was finished and gone. I then saw the "repaired" retaining wall which consisted of all the damaged stones being loosely stacked on top of each other. I could have done that myself. The retaining wall was totally compromised. I expected more from these professionals. By then I was super upset and just wanted the whole job to be over with, but the stump grinders still had to come. The stump grinders came on Thursday. I left the $200 payment before the job started because I didn't want to miss any more days from work and I figured stump grinding was a pretty straight forward job. Well the stump grinders grinded the stumps, but left three gigantic piles of mulch. I texted Rodolfo to see if they were going to remove the large piles of mulch, but his prompt responsiveness disappeared and I never heard back from him.
I feel like Rodolfo put on a very pleasant facade to get my business, but his courteousness progressively faded as the job neared completion. Rodolfo seemed to employ 'bait and switch' tactics and his degrading attitude by the end of the job was unsettling. I don't consider him a trustworthy individual so I urge extreme caution for anyone who decides to work with him in the future. Hopefully he'll prove that my unpleasant experience was an isolated one.
They were extremely good at their jobs, very professional, and very courteous. They also worked quickly and completed the job without any hang ups.
The company was prompt and did an excellent job. The owner, Brian Hager, was available at all times and made sure the job was done right and completed on time.
The crew came, started working, it was very interesting watching them work, and they did a good job but had to come back the next day. The head of the crew negotiated additional services to remove the logs that were already there and to basically clear the whole back yard and make it very neat for additional $150 which I agreed to.
They came back the next day and it was raining, awhile after the head of the crew knocked on the door and started explaining to me they ran out of room and cannot finish the additional work for the $150 so will take off $50!! My husband overheard him talking and came outside. I went back in the house but my husband proceeded to talk to him and said that was not the agreement! He was very understanding about the situation, he said you are right and we didn?t finish what I said we were so took off another $50 so in total we got $100 taken off for what they didn?t finish. He said they are in the area a lot so one day he would see get permission and comeback and finish for $150. I agreed.
Well about a day or 2 later after it stopped raining, we walked on the side of the house and that whole side grass was pulled up and muddy a mess!! They pulled the extra-large truck on the side of the house in the grass instead of staying on the driveway like they did the before!!!
I immediately called the owner and repeatedly got the answering machine, I left several messages to no avail, and about maybe 2-3 weeks I finally got him and he stated he was out of town and will call me back when he got back but never heard from anyone again.
The work they did do was excellent, and I have even since referred them to another person, but I would have liked a better outcome in my situation
They were prompt, worked professionally, and quickly, and they left everything neat and clean. It did take 2 extra days for the subcontractor to come and remove the tree roots, and the truck to pick up the remaining large logs, but it wasn't a major inconvenience for us.. Brian, the owner, was easy to work with, responsive, and fair.
Three trees came down in the back yard that were all dead or dying. All of these were threatening the house and inery close proximity to our deck and the childrens tree house. They took all 3 down with no damage to the deck or the house. These three were cut into firewood and piled neatly next to the deck.
All of the branches and smaller limbs were chipped and the waste hauled away. Debris and leaves were raked up and hauled away as well. The only portion of the job not done yet is hauling away the 20' sections of the 80' poplar in the front yard, and then the stump grinding. The stump grinding is scheduled for tomorrow, and the trunks are supposed to be hauled away later on today.
I would HIGHLY recommend Atlanta Tree Arbors for anyone needing a high quality, and professional job done removing trees.
