"We're glad that it's recognized that we did a professional job installing the water heater tank and in doing the construction for the new walls. Here is our response to the issue at hand: We'll start with the first part of our quote which was the framing. One section was about enclosing the opening between the hallway and the garage in the basement. We quoted an enclosement for the hallway and framing for a door installation. The door itself was not included in the price because we were told that the door would be provided by the client. When it came time to install the door, the door that was brought to us was inadequate (broken). We then went out of our way twice to buy two different standard, exterior doors that apparently did not fit to the client's liking. The client came to us the next day with a door that was too small for the opening we had prepared. We let the client know that re-framing for this new door would be an additional of $100. The client did not accept and we were still told to install the door. Next, the water heater. Our quote was to remove a water heater and install a new one -provided by the client- in a location 10 feet away from where it previously sat. That was all we had to do. After we had made the new connections, the tank had been installed, and was full of water, the client came down to tell Mack he wanted to install a water heater pan under the tank. This was not part of the quote and it wasn't previously spoken about either. Mack said it'd be an additional $100 because they had to cut the brand new lines, drain the tank, and reconnect new lines to the water heater in order to put this pan in. The client left, came back an hour and a half later, and then refused to pay this additional. We were told to install the pan anyway. After that, our plumber, Luis, showed the client that the end of the cord for the water heater had blackened and needed to be replaced. The client looked at the plumber, told him to take it out, go buy a new one, and replace it, in a very rude way. Luis calmly said to talk to Mack because it would be an additional cost. When that was said, the client said no and that he'd replace it himself. Finally, because he had already refused to accept any previous additional charges we went ahead, out our kindness, and just did the electrical connections for the water heater. We knew that he would not have accepted the additional charges and would have told us to make the connections anyway. This additional would have been $150. We did three additional jobs that totaled out to be $350, which we did not get paid for. We did this because we are professional and like to do our jobs correctly and efficiently. The client's wife called us to talk about the over charge for the electrical outlet and to tell us that she wanted to go ahead and install a water pump under her sink that we had quoted while we had been working there. We explained the situation about the electrical connection that we did f"
"We are surprised that HomeAdvisor published this review because we sent a copy of Mrs. P.[Consumer name withheld at their request]'s quote of building a deck but no where in the quote does it say that we were supposed to stain this deck. We were never asked to come back to stain any deck. We were asked to come back for other repair- for example, her persistence of the replacement of an interior handrail. We set up a time to come back to replace the handrail and on the day of return, she told us to paint the deck instead. We were shocked because we never gave her a price to stain. She did ask about staining but we specified that treated wood needed at least two weeks to dry before it could even be stained. We told her it was an additional price and she did not accept. Also, we made her sign a contract three times, one signature was stating that if there is any additional work that needed to be done, it was an additional cost. We no longer wanted to work with her from there and the feeling was mutual."
